I'm annoyed because you called me out for defending him, and made a jibe at me when I said 'he was woeful' and 'he hasn't been good enough for a long time'
You made a jibe based on nothing.
I didn't get offended. I called that statement hyperbole. Still do. I got offended when you said something to me that had nothing to do with my comment, based on previous posting.
And your edit tag? Absolutely pathetic. Grow up.
And you moan about fantasy 'personal attacks'. The irony....

Yes because 'he was woeful today' and 'he hasn't been good enough for a long time' is a 'love-in'?
Because I dared to question the notion that 'worst player in our history, all 100+ years of it' is hyperbole? Because I dared to question that he wasn't out of his depth at L2 when he signed with us (because he clearly wasn't)
Read what people write instead of having a pop. Fed up of it.
So you quoting peoples comments and calling it 'hyperbole' and ridiculous and 'over the top' is not a pop at those posters?
Anyone that challenges you becomes a 'Personal attack'. Will probably get warning points or banned, but i dont care. Double standards.

However, worst player in our history? 'Was probably out of his depth at L2 level when we bought him' are examples of needless hyperbole and ridiculous overreactions.
We're already shite, there's no need to go massively over the top.
Why, cause they dont agree with your love-in with Westwood. He is shit,
Alot of your comments are 'hyperbole' and 'ridiculous', but we dont feel the need to tell you this as this is your opinion to which you are entitled.

Im sure this softened the blow at the time : http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-what-paul-lamberts-8827283
Also, he could of walked away anytime, but chose to keep holding out for his payoff.
Saw an interview the other day, and when he said 'We were excellent', it sent a shiver down my spine

Honestly, I'm failing to see how this works.
I don't really think anyone could improve this crock of shit. It's all ifs and buts. If Veretouts shot had gone in against Sunderland, the confidence would have grown and i think we would have won that match. Confidence is a huge issue.
Im willing to give Garde time. The only manager with the bollocks to finally get rid rid of Gabby, showing players like Grealish he wont stand for unprofessionalism. Yes, he is probably a bit of a slow burner, but i think he will come good in the end with his own signings and philosophy, even if it means we go down.
Some posters slating him, yet he has not yet even bought in his own players in the window. How many windows did Lambert have and some were still backing him to the hilt at the end, embarassing.

Bloody ell, Sags is so far up Collymore's arse it's unbeleivable.
Im getting sick of all these pundits and ex players saying Sherwood had no time and it's down to Paddy Reilly and the Board etc..
If Sherwood had started with Gil every game, put Clarke at the back when fit and played the right formations we would probably mid table by now.
If Sherwood had not made those stupid subs against Leicester, we would have won and would have probably gone into the West Brom game full of confidence and won that game too.
But no, not one of the pundits have mentioned his dire tactics and saying he did not have his say on transfers.
Sherwood says he wanted Lennon - wanted to go to Everton anyway
Sherwood says he wanted Townsend - Said he wanted to fight for his place at Spurs
Sherwood said he wanted Cleverley - we all knew he was going to Everton
So i dont buy all this stuff about his experienced players.
Ok, we only had this 5m net spend, but we were all excited by most of these signings and i still think we have a good side there with the right management.

A post that starts with sack this moron has got a load of likes, the day after we've progressed in the cup after beating our local rivals. From some who didn't want Lambert to go. Amazing.
I think people are really jumping on the chance to take the piss, Sherwood didn't say the plan was to play badly and get booed off, he said the plan was to play direct in order to push their defence back and set up space for us in the second half with a different approach. I'm not sure I buy it, but its certainly not worth the stick some can't wait to dish out after we've beaten Birmingham city in a cup competition.
This amount of stick for a guy who has had 7 games with HIS squad is absolutely ridiculous. It's the sort of stuff I'd expect from Newcastle fans, after 5 years of utter shit I really don't know why fans won't get behind such massive changes, that most wanted and were over the **** moon with.
What does Lambert have to do with any of anything, out of interest?
Don't understand why his name is repeatedly dragged up. He was sacked months ago!
Because you and a few others repeatedly told us week after week to stick with Lambert after utter dross performances and when Lambert was criticised for the way he came across in interviews, we were told by the same few posters 'Why are people bothered so much by his interviews, they mean nothing'. Now the rules seem to have changed probably because they did not want Sherwood. These same posters are slating Sherwood for his interviews and not giving him a fair crack of the whip where Lambert would have been given another 2 years grace in the Championship. People are saying what a performance from Ayew last night. Does Sherwood not get the credit for improving him in training?

And while I'm on it, can anyone explain how in the Lerner thread the owner is slated for a very minimal net spend, yet in other threads the same people slate Sherwood for having spent a lot and got so little ?
The **** gives a **** about net spend?
Get over it.

Try reading my post !!
I haven't said I care about it.
I've said OTHER people say we've hardly spent ( net spend) when complaining about Lerner, yet say Sherwood HAS spent a lot ( gross spend) when they want to complain about Sherwood.
Jeeeez.
Totally agree Terrytini. Funny how net spend mattered so much when Lambert was in charge, but anything to suit their own argument.

I'll pass. We beat our rivals, i'd rather not argue with posters like yourself tonight.
Give a shit.
We played poorly - especially first half. I'm not suddenly wanking off over Sherwood because we beat a Championship side 1-0 in a scrappy and, quite frankly, shit game.
This is what i don't get and find embarrassing. The same group of posters that told us week after week to stick with Lambert for over 2 years after pathetic performances, and kept saying 'Why do people focus so much on Lamberts interviews so much, who cares' are the ones who are prepared to give Sherwood no time and slate him for his interviews?? If that was Lamberts team that lost to Leicester, the excuse would have been 'Do you not realise this is a Leicester team that are on a great winning run, I'll stick with him'.
Bizarre.
Yes, Sherwood has made mistakes. We are 6 games into the season, yes 6. We have just beaten the scum, had some great positives with Ayew and Veretout in the second half and Gestede scored. I'm prepared to give Sherwood as much time as we gave Lambert as I think we will have a great team by Christmas.

So the picture was true. Just shown him on SSN leaving the same building after his medical.

They didn't against Alex Ferguson because he is the greatest manager in history.
Christ.
I wouldn't say he was Christ, top manager though.

Re the "players will turn on him if he shouts at them" quote.
Are these the same players that kicked off/went to the press because they weren't paid enough to train extra hard (and to take some stick) when we weren't performing?
These are the 'losers' we need to ditch if we ever want to progress. They are paid a fortune to win football matches, they need a reality check and a kick up the ass.
This is just a theory of mine, but the only main stay throughout this whole drama is Gabby, I do wonder how much power he has over the squad and he seems to be at the centre of all disruptions. Probably completely wrong and he could be the one players trying to sort the mess out, id like to think so as he is a villa fan .
One thing I will add on Sherwood is that he's at least got the home fans buzzing again, if we continue to play attacking football, teams will fear us and Villa Park will hopefully return to a tough place to get points. That should be enough along with his 50% win ratio to see us mid table next season.
Agree mate.
In one breath some say players are overpaid prima donnas, in the next they say don't have a go at them, they will turn against the boss.
Funny the playes never turned against Alex Ferguson isn't it.
I suppose it's the weak society of today.

Great call on Talksport just now.
Guy said 'Mesut Ozil cost more than Villa's whole team. In February i thought we were going down. He has got us playing attacking football and you won't get many 0-0 draws but im willing to stick with him'
Totally agree, beats Sideways, Sideways, Backwards football every time.

If he's to be judged on the highs, then he needs to be judged on the lows too.
To only judge on one time is incredibly one-eyed.
I am forever grateful for the games that kept us up and before Southampton I was as pro Sherwood is the messiah as anyone on here, but the latest trend is worrying and he isn't immune from criticism.
Not sure how it's one eyed. People have said he has made some mistakes with team selections, tactics and things so far. But some fans saying they are not looking forward to the new season, and we should get a new manager in now is unbelievable. This is the dour scottish man's team, not Sherwoods.
You say the latest trend is worrying.
Southampton : freak result
Burnley : Players did not want to get injured
Arsenal : Just one of their players is probably worth the whole of our team
If fans want to be fickle, thats up to them, but i have seen enough in those games we won that Sherwood deserves a couple of seasons to build something, just like so many fans that kept saying give Lambert time, he will be special

I find it utterly bizarre thats some fans that were prepared to give Lambert all the time in the world are slating Sherwood in his short tenure. Yes, Sherwood has made some mistakes with team selections, tactics and things so far. But this is Lamberts team, not Sherwoods. Give him a transfer window and build his own team. If we are near the bottom again at Christmas, yes, i will be not too happy. My faith and excitement in Villa has returned. The Liverpool semi-final shows us all how well Sherwood can motivate a team. Why judge him on the Southampton game onwards?? I love his honest and direct attitude, telling it like it is, instead of 'We were excellent' every week.

I am not looking forward to next season.
Will be a season of baffling decisions and more player blaming I reckon.
The bounce has worn off already, and I think sooner rather than later the players will turn on him.
I don't like his ego, his arrogance and his billy big bollox not my fault attitude.
And the sensationalism begins....

People can say what they want about Sherwood, but i tell you something, he has given me more pleasure in the short space of time he has been here than Lambert ever did (ohhh matron!) and got me excited about watching Villa again. I think Southampton was just a freak result. Cant understand why alot of people were going over the top about the Burnley result. Obviously players didnt want to get injured for the final.
Yes, i was disappointed Saturday, but i knew it was going to be alot harder than Liverpool, Arsenal are diiferent class to them and compare the amount spent on our squad and theirs. It's a totally different league. Personally im looking forward to next season and Sherwood's first transfer signings. If Lambert was here, we would now be in the Championship and higly doubt we would have made the FA Cup Final under him.
So, thanks Tim for keeping us up which is what his remit was and getting us to a final.

Anyone been to Sunderland before and know the best places to park?
Thinking of getting a ticket but going by car.
There's a multi storey I was going to use sat nav SR1 3AH
Cheers for that mate. Just checked online, looks the best place to park, not too far to walk either.

you can park at the Stadium of Light Metro Station (cost £4) or alternatively, you can park in the city centre and walk to the ground (about 10-15 minutes). The traffic for a couple of miles around the ground was solid when I went so allow plenty of time for your journey.
There is also a 'Park & Ride' scheme in operation on matchdays, free for both home and away supporters. This is situated at Sunderland Enterprise Park, which is well signposted just off the A1231. Buses run every five minutes, for 90 minutes before kick off and continue after the game until everyone has gone.

We dominated the game and deserved to win. Dont care how we won it in the end.B*llocks were we lucky last night, we were actually unlucky not to be up by 4 in the first half - DESERVED win. And it is not often that can be said. Point at Sunderland and we can breathe easy.
Completely agree that we should have been 3 up, we weren't though were we? Completely agree we deserved to win it, doesn't really work like that a lot of the time though does it? I think it's no coincidence we got a bit of luck when we had worked so hard as a group past 90 minutes to try and get a break, it's no coincidence that seeing we had 8 shots on target in a game for the first time since last May that we createdd enough to win a game.
Fact is though, till generous old Ben's brain completely melted we would have been feeling super bitter because all the above would still have been true but we'd only have a point to show for it.
Cheer up ffs
I'm ecstatic, we smashed them in possession, shots, shots on target, tempo, quality of football everything. Doesn't mean we weren't lucky too, that's my only point.
We have had no luck all season. We get a bit of luck, some fans analyse and keep banging on about it. We won, i dont care how we won it.
