To be fair, he didn't say that.

He said he'd been given info to suggest we are not in for him due to previous problems  and he believes that info to be very reliable, hence the 100% certainty.

What, because an Italian newspaper has just published a story saying him being left out of the squad has nothing to do with a transfer to Villa? Not really inside info is it? Why do people try so hard to impress people as being ITK? Never understand it

So, let me get this right, because in your eyes, his attitude is not right, its been confirmed by AVFC that he is not signing.

Are you for real??? You think that we are gonna sign 5 or 6 new players this week and sell 8 or 9? Because that's the only way it won't be the same **** as last season.  I wanted almost everyone associated with the last few years of disaster to be booted out of the club. That hasn't happened at all and we have had 3 months.

And you think we are gong to make that many changes in ONE WEEK! On top of that, me saying confidently  that that will not happen is akin to predicting the 50 million to one lottery numbers. O....k........

You do realise the window closes 3rd September? As Di Matteo has explained , you have targets and then you have to wait for the other team to get replacements. People think it's as easy as picking a player and they sign straight away. Patience...

These kind of comments annoy me. Cmon, have you ever even heard of that website before? These sites have adverts on them, you click them, they get paid. I know this as I'm an internet marketer. They make up stories to get as many people to create a stir and hope they get loads of clicks on the ads.

Fans believe it and start saying 'Can't beleive we are in for him' blaming Villa. 'Is Di Matteo this stupid' etc......When in fact Villa have no interest in the player at all.

  5. I think alot of people can't forget and will continue to boo certain players as it wasnt just about how shit they played and their 'couldn't give a shit' attitude.

It was how they came across as people. Bacuna tweeting 'just forget life's worries and enjoy it', sunbathing on a beach, knowing hundreds of people would be made redundant from the club, some of them probably still struggling to find work, worrying about bills.

Lescott coming across as a total arrogant idiot with the car tweet and scuffles with fans.

Gabby, well, nothing more can be said about that waste of space can it.

3 or 4 gone by the end of the week he said. Now on Thursday with 0 out, not looking good :(

Guzan virtually gone, Gana having a medical, Celtic making another bid for Sinclair

Is that not 3? Maybe a couple of transfers have hit a snag somewhere, which might refer to Xia's latest tweets about being angry.

I just watched the interview, and he looks about 10 years older than 30, do we have his age right?

He also seemed a bit shy and even nervous, which makes me like him, he's not pompous or polished and he doesn't seem like he's full of shit.

I look forward to an owner who will be visible and vocal when needed.

If we really have 50m to spend this summer...I say we bring Tekkers back for the promotion push, wouldn't that be great?!

Great guess, 39 according to the Guardian :D

The simple fact is .....The hope has returned, nothing more at this stage.

It was stagnant before and getting worse.

I think celebrate is a strong word.....I would say cautiously optimistic.

buy hey, celebrate if you like.

This really is the 'in' phrase at the moment isn't it :D

  9. Some posters crying out for Lerner to go, questioning Hollis about the sale and moaning all things Villa.

We get a new owner, same posters totally ignore the positive statements and facts about Xia, and try to unearth bad things about him and don't like seeing other fans happy.

Really is strange, seems they want the attention on them all the time instead of the good things that happen for Villa.

Yes, a bit of caution is required, but f**k me, Lerner has gone! Yes, Lerner has gone!! 5 years of misery is replaced by some positivity, so i tell all Villa fans, f***king celebrate!!

  10. Great interview, sounds very promising!

What i do really like is this part " He described himself as a hard-working, self-made millionaire who would have little patience with overpaid players who were not pulling their weight."

For too long some of the lazy overpaid players have got away with it.

Maybe Black wants him to remain to help advise on the players?  Maybe any new manager wants him to stay and help with the scouting set up? maybe his role is not that important or valuable? Maybe they are negotiating his removal,  Remi's took a while too you know. Maybe he wasn't actually to blame and Almstadt and Fox were?

Whatever the reason Paddy reilly is not so important in the grand scheme of things for Lerner to stick his nose out,  have two high profile and highly embarrassing resignations of a board put together 4 weeks ago to over see the long term improvement of the club which could potentially lead to him getting some decent money back on his investment.  For those resignations to be pointed at him and heap even more bad PR on the club and potentially scare off any investor there may be waiting.  Not a chance

He let them sack a more influential and important man in the Chief Executive FFS.  and he wont let them sack a glorified chief scout? yeah right.

If it walks like a duck ,  quacks like a duck,  waddles like a duck and swims like a duck its a duck

These two quite because lerner would not move on their recommendations which a big part of was budget for new manager.  Any new manager worth his salt needs that money,  they wanted a manager worth his salt (in their expert opinion) Lerner did not supply the resources,  they walked.

    Garbage opinion utter garbage

I'm not sure why both would have felt the need to quit if a sale was imminent. King's final sentence talks about the importance of finding a new owner, that sentence doesn't lend itself to the notion that a sale is imminent.

I think King is practically saying as a Villa fan, 'Lerner is really as bad as you think he is, we need a better owner'.

Maybe not but for me I would really want someone who genuines cares for the club and is motivated by the fact it is Aston Villa and buying into the club,  not just someone after a paycheck.  I think the club has lost a lot of connection with the fan base and is distant and I would like that restored.  I think having that feeling for the club right now is important.

    Is that you Dwight? :D

  14. 2 minutes ago, Richard said:

I'd go for Rowett I've said so on here and I think he would be ideal not least because he has a club connection,  he can work in extremely difficult circumstances (sha were arguably worse than us) and I think he would be here semi long term enough and instill a completely new philosophy at the club.

I am not saying Moyes would be crap,  I am just doubting he is right for us and asking to be persuaded of his skills / ability.

Moyes bought Preston up from League 1 and made it into the Championship play-offs with a very average team. That will do for me. Shows he can do it. His record is there in black and white for Everton. Doesn't need to prove anything. The Man Utd job is a poisoned chalice for anyone since Fergie left. Real Sociedad wasn't great admittedly.

But he would be my choice, as if we did get promoted first time, he would build in the Premiership. I wouldn't trust Bruce or Pearson to do that.

Probably because he has shown nothing at all to suggest that he is

    You repeatedly say this.

Sherwood had a few flukey wins last season while we had Benteke and Delph, players that have by far much more quality than any player we have now.

All managers previously have had a transfer window/windows to sign their own players (wether chosen by them or the commitee, they said they were happy with them).

Garde now has a chance to improve the squad with his own signings, most probably loans, so im intirgued to see what signings he can get and see if he can improve results.

So i will judge him in a few months.

I hate to get involved in internet bickering but recent developments in this thread, and that Remi Garde is seemingly already under pressure from some sections of fans, really p*sses me off.

He's taken over the biggest fustercluck of a football club in recent memory, an unbalanced squad bereft of confidence and mental fortitude. I don't give a flying f*** he isn't delivering results yet - the season is over - I only care about what happens off the pitch to rebuild the football club. Another quick fix would only have postponed the issue, we need a fundamental change in terms of attitude and degree of progessinalism. We have a manager with integrity, determination and an excellent football education. He knows from Lyon how to manage a club through a rebuild. At least give him a full preseason, enough time for him to build something with the slightest resemblence of something he can call his own, before you conclude he's not the right man for the job.

I understand angry. I'm angry as hell. With Lerner. Be angry with Lerner by all means, but start calling for Remi's head at this stage and you're only contributing to the sorry state we're in. Fixing this club will take time, and it requires continuity.

Footbll fans, some Villa fans in particular, really are their own worst enemies sometimes.

    Great post

Lazy maybe, but the job of a Manager is to sort that out isnt it ?

Poor ?  No I dont buy it, you don't pass sideways and backwards because of a lack of ability, and most of these players are of a similar ability to players anywhere from Championship up to bottom half Premiership, and players in many of those Clubs have no problem doing what the Manager wants.

Also I find it hard to blame 15-20 odd players over 2 Managers.

And here is where the problem lies. Players here seem DO seem to have a problem carrying out what the Managers want. This is why i think he frozen Gabby out. Besides being shit, i think he is a disruptive influence on the team.

  18. Thing is, 2 managers have both said the players are not doing what they tell them.

I remember Sherwood saying he didnt ask them to pass sideways and backwards, but they kept doing it

Garde said  they didnt play how he told them after we scored.

How does any manager stand a chance when these moron players wont carry out simple instructions?

Garde already said he wont walk and is staying on the Sporting Life site.

Also, there is a Villa fan phone in on Talksport after 6 if anyone interested.
