  1. IMHO it depends on the attitude of said chairman.
  2. Without wishing to get anyone's hopes up, I dont see why it couldnt be
  3. Again, if you go to the takeover panel wesbite and read I think it was rule 21.1, he cant do this. He cannot do anything to obstruct or hinder any bid from reaching the shareholders.
  4. if it drags on that long, you may be right. Big, big IF IMO As far as I'm concerned, if they are as serious as the others, then all the merrier, I'm not waving any flags here
  5. It seems to be what he is saying. Either that or his bid isnt anywhere near ready, in which case he is too late. this isnt going on for much longer.
  6. IMHO he is going to be disappointed then. He isnt playing with other shopkeepers anymore, some of these guys he is playing with are serious people
  7. Doesnt bother me at all. He can support whoever he likes within reason, or no-one, or know nothing about football. he's a QC, he isnt going to be running the club, it isnt even his money. he is a facilitator, a front man, nothing more. Even If his bid was successful we'd never hear of him again. Unlikely to happen. I hope we have a new manager in place for the next game, which seems more likely to me tbh.
  8. You may be right, but as I asked earlier, why all the noise?
  9. I think he is asking Doug to please keep some shares, yes.
  10. Well, exactly, which rather gives credence to the theory that this group are suddenly making alot of noise becasue they just realised they arent in the same league as lerner and Still (and mystery other). First there was this promise of player cash this morning, then this long interview tonight. if this goes the same as last week, I would say that what this interview tells me, above anything else, is that one of the real players is about to make a real move We will see, but personally this interview rather confirms my view that things are actually moving swiftly to a conclusion, just without Padfield or neville on board, and unsurprisingly they arent happy
  11. there is a rule about him causing "frustration" to potential bidders. Big trouble if he does this.
  12. I dont believe this is possible mainly becasue Ellis wouldnt need a merchant bank to sort this out, he could just arrange a private trade between himself and whoever he wanted. Furthermore, it has been made perfectly clear by every bidder except this one that Ellis would have no executive role. They would not say this if this wasnt the information they had. Padfield, being blunt, seems to know nothing. No-one seems to be telling him anything. Maybe his bid isnt anywhere near ready. Maybe, if he really hopes to compete in this matter he needs to come back off holiday. Again, the noise is all wrong. Talk of considering a merge with neville for example. Maybe he doesnt have the cash for a whole club buyout? maybe he actually *needs* Ellis and petchey to retain shareholding if he wants to complete this. IMO it will be over long before Tuesday
  13. IMHO this is the case
  14. Well, what was said was that Padfield didnt know what Ellis wanted as he hadnt talked to him IMHO this bid is in serious trouble, they are making all the wrong noises. Seems to be between Lerner, Still and whoever the others are that we dont know about.
  15. Last Wednesday the club made an anniuncement to the Stock Exchange at 17:02. which wasnt on the official site for nearly an hour after that Might be worth someone popping over to the LSE site about 17:20 (information is delayed there by 15 mins) and seeing if anything is afoot http://tinyurl.com/ksvu8 Check near the bottom where it says latest news Stories. the one from last week was called "re: offers"
  16. Again, we have recieved no formal offers, only indicative offers, unless something has changed very recently had we recieved a formal offer, Rothschilds would have been obliged to put it to the board, who would have to announce such to the stockmarket, and the board would have had to either accept or decline.
  17. I dont think anyone knows who they were tbh, apart from the chauffeur guy they had
  18. IMHO it will be like last Wednesday with little action until late this afternoon
  19. I'm inclined to agree with pat on this Fasten your seat belts ladies and gents, this is going to be a bumpy ride. SAFETY WARNING make sure you have on hand caffeinated drinks and protien based snacks. be sure to drink plenty. If you have to leave your PC for any reason tie a small child to the chair so they can keep you updated. readers with heart conditions are advised to go away and comeback when its all over
  20. Correction, we have recieved zero firm bids We have recieved any number of indicative bids
  21. it isnt a done deal. yet
  22. No, Ellis is finished, I think even he knows that now.
  23. Of the many reasons this might have been leaked, this is quite possibly the least likely. Note the word "leaked" as opposed to "invented"
  24. Tomorrow we will find out then i guess. Sleep tight guys, this might be it, or it might not
  25. This is interesting, because there is only one announcement you could make. Well there's two 1) these guys were nothing to do with the ongoing discussions 2) The board recommends that shareholders accept the offer made by....
