  1. The same MON who went their last year and won 1-0. The same defence who have played shit under this manager this year. But we're supposed to believe it'll get better. At 2-1 we should not be losing 3-2 with 15mins to go no matter what the defence. All I ever hear from Houllier is excuses.

    You can't compare it like that - what I asked was do you think MON would have taken a team like the one yesterday to Bolton and win?

    Actually yes. I can honestly say that in the last three years with MON I believed we could get a win in any of the games we started. I don't have the same feelings about the games prior to kick off now.

  2. Until Wednesday I would have said stay but I can't condone not sending out his best team to try in the FA Cup. I think he has got us playing a style of attacking football that may pay dividends long term but the shocking demise of our defending over a relatively short period of time is too big a worry and it doesn't appear to be turning around. I have no faith in Gary McAllister either. Stay until the end of the season and then please go. He is not the man for Aston Villa Football Club IMO.

  3. Friedel = too old

    Guzan = not good enough

    L.Young = KEEP unless wages are extortionate

    Warnock = Get rid

    Lichaj = No harm in keeping him for a year more or two

    Baker = See Lichaj

    Dunne = 50/50, don't mind either way.

    Cuellar = 100% KEEP.

    Clark = 100% KEEP.

    Collins = 100% KEEP

    Beye = Get rid. Too expensive, too old and too shit.

    Downing = 110% KEEP.

    Albrighton = See Downing.

    Petrov = If he'd take a pay-cut then keep, but not likely so bin. Too old and tired of making excuses to defend him.

    Herd = See Lichaj/Baker.

    Bannan = Definitely KEEP.

    A.Young = Do our best but hey, I wouldn't blame him if he left.

    Makoun = Obviously keep, new player and all.

    Delph = 100% KEEP. Players like Delph are Villa's future.

    Reo-Coker = Give him new contract if he wants one.

    Agbonlahor = KEEP as you know what you'll get and he's a Villa fan.

    Delfouneso = Still think he deserves a better chance. He's got something we don't have elsewhere. Guile up-top.

    Heskey = Maybe one more season. Can't write him off when he was in such form a few months back.

    Bent = Obviously keep.

    Pires = Keep maybe as an emergency player/coach. May as well get rid otherwise.

    Ireland = Always wanted him at Villa, now he is here, GET RID.

    Carew = Please leave.

    About right for me that. I wouldn't keep L Young or Pires though and Gabby needs to be played in a different position.

  4. Awful, surrendered before kick off. Blame the players, blame the manager, i don't really care I just feel sorry for the fans who made the effort to travel up the M6 and were very very short changed. Staying up his priority, well maybe but where do you draw the line? Should the players stay in Manchester now so they don't get worn out travelling back to Bolton on Saturday? Has modern football really got to such a stage where players need to be rested to this extent? If resting players why put important ones on when the game is lost? It just defies logic. Highlights - our fans and ITV trying to pretend it was a contest for so long.

  5. Too be fair City have an AWESOME team, unfortunately if we really want to compete we have to match there spending power...!

    An awesome team that drew at home with Fulham last week. Chelsea have an awesome team we drew 3-3 with them a couple of months ago. The team selection sent out the wrong message right from the start. If Bob Bradley is as good a manager as his son's a footballer I'm glad we didn't get him. At the end of the season, with the exception of Clark I couldn't care less if we sold any of the starting 11.

    Why have you quoted me saying that when I didn't?!

    Sorry, my mistake I've put it right now :)

  7. Overeaction on here. Even at full strength we wouldnt beat them at home. Keep the players fresh for bolton which is a massive game. Players on the park are expected to play better. Besides herd theyve all played before

    All the fans who travelled up the M6 obviously thought we didn't have a chance then. If we drew with them we'd have a replay. Started the second half brightly just like at Anfield

  8. anyone know where the numbers came from? weren't we number 16? i thought it was either alphabetical or based on the timing of the final whistle but i havent got a clue where that number came from

    The order the previous ties were drawn

    Villa v Blackburn came out three from the end hence 14

  9. Friedel 6 - would have been 7 until his "challenge" v Zigic

    Walker 7

    Dunne 6 - still looks a liability

    Collins 6

    Clark 7 would rather have him at LB than warnock, improved after Bentley started lively in 1st half hour

    Downing 6

    Petrov 5 - square ball, square ball, square ball

    Reo-Coker 6

    Albrighton 6 going forward great, at times a liability defending

    Gabby - 6

    Carew - 5 sadly we need a new striker and fast

    Bannan - 5 so so

    Delfouenso- 6 very good substitute performance

    We would be taking three points from games like this if we could get a decent striker in. it's so obvious that we need this deperately.

    We were by far the better team and they look more likeley to go down than we do.

  10. Awful. Worst feeling since the spineless performance against Doncaster. No visible leader, no urgency, barely a tackle. It's a transition but at some stage this season it looks like we might have to win some points ugly and I fear when that time comes we might not be able to do that. Results needed from the next two games otherwise we are really in it. The defence is a complete shambles and the attack is lightweight not because of Gabby but because he's on his own.

  11. I'll feel happier once I stop convincing myself we'll do any better than mid table this season. No outlet going forward should have had The Fonz on earlier - (as soon as they scored the second at least). Very disappointed with Ireland and Agbonlahor doesn't look fully fit. Stupid first half free kicks and poor goalkeeping - masters of our own downfall - Blackburn are a poor side. Please stop playing A. Young in the middle gave him MOM though. Other good stuff from L Young, Hogg, Bannan and Downing. Hopefully better match next week when we don't have to play Thugball

  12. All you Ireland haters: Did you miss his pass to Downing in the first minute? He scores that and it's a totally different game. We should attack Salgado's side a lot more, he's like 55 years old and hasn't been a good player for 5 or 6 years.

    That's not enough, for every pass Ireland has created, he's made nearly two bad ones which have caused attacks to break down.
