From what I read, McCarthy seems to think he is off to Chelsea.
-
I believe Nugent is off to Everton anyway aint he?
Defoe - not my favourite by any stretch of the imagination, but I woudn't be gutted if we signed him, bearing in mind the market we are in.
Personally though, I'd rather see an alternative to Carew rather than a Defoe/Bellamy type. We have Gabby & Luke for that, and they both know where the goal is.

My blog hosters appear to have vanished off the the face of the earth, so I'll probably have to go back to Xanga or something.
:?

I'd like to think MO'N is looking at him. Along with Darren Bent, they are two players I'd like to have at least been in for when all is said & done.
-
I'd be quite happy with Luke Young as our right-back.
-
Thinking about it though - if his clause is about going if they aint in Europe, will he come to a club that aint in Europe either?
He is probably going to Spurs... :winkold:

Good shout nycVILLA, I could certainly see us letting Davis go out on loan for the season to see how he does. It certainly wouldn't do us any harm, in fact it would make perfect sense.
Yeah let someone else be our feeder club for a change

Does anyone seriously think Fat Fred will let Owen go without making back at least what he paid. I mean, he's played only a handful of games in over a season.
Word is there is a £9 million released clause in his contract. If somebody offers it and he wants to go there's not much FFS can do about it.
Oh bloody hell I'd forgot about that! Hmmm... Interesting...

I did mean to add at the end of my last post - I think it's irrelevant cause he wont go anywhere anyway!

Owen for £9m and Fowler on a free any takers?
:bonk:
Owen yes like a shot. Fowler no thanks way past his sell by date
My sentiments exactly.
Fowler would be better off 'doing a Kevin Phillips' and dropping down a league, where he would probably be a class act. Phillips has always looked good for the Boggies whenever I have seen them.
Owen... my only worry would be injuries. I have no doubt at all- AT ALL - about his football ability. In fact, I once posted on here that I think he is one of the most underrated players in the world, and I stand by that.
To me, Owen is as underrated as Frank Lampard is overrated!

I've voted yes. Realistically, I can not see them improving enough to stay up next season. A lot will depend on investment - and it is easier to give an assessement of us, them and every other club in the country in August - but seeing them this season, they are pretty damn poor.

As always, good work OBE. Enjoyed that.

Sinking ship has been steadied, so I'd say better, albeit the benefits are more long-term than any immediate effect.

I have to say No, but then again I wouldn't give any Prem League footballer a testimonial its not like they need the money now is it
I disagree, because it is a way to say thank you for loyal service - something that is less and less in the game these days.
However - Testmonials should be for the player on the night with all the money going to the charity/charities of their choice.

That's true but in a lot of those games - at home anyway - we lacked 'a Paul Merson' more than a finisher, IMO.
Although when Baros was up front, that obviously didn't help...
