Some of the managers I've seen being linked with us is woeful. Pearson, McCarthy, Bruce, Dyche, McLaren, Carver.

It's like being faced with a pavement full of dog shit and someone asking you which turd you prefer to slip on.

Sadly that's our reality now we are a Championship club in waiting. Just wait to see how depressing the transfer speculation thread becomes in the summer.

As someone who doesn't play FM, could the concept of a relegation clause be explained to me? Obviously something changes (wages etc.) but do they benefit the club or the player? Do the players get released or do we have the power to keep them, or is it to do with being able to keep them on much lower wages?

How does having them written into the players contract help prepare us for the drop is basically what I'm asking!

Depends on what was negotiated at the time they signed. Could be a wage drop, agreed cut-price transfer or a release or then again maybe none of the above.

If you take a step back from it all, this could be the first steps of an amicable takeover.

New buyer structures the company the way they want while not disrupting a season (since this one is long gone). Then they get rid of people that aren't required/up to scratch so that the setup is in place already going into the summer to reduce off pitch upheaval (as there will be major upheaval both on and off the pitch then anyway).

My reason for optimism is that I just can't see Lerner being capable of putting together a board that looks as capable (due to recent decisions) and as football minded which we now have (on paper) by himself.

    I can but dream anyway!

It's mainly been took out of his hands. Bar Krulak being back I doubt he has much to do with the boards make up since hiring Hollis.

  4. He may just be here in the role of advisor to the board, but you can bet your house on the fact when it comes to the big decisions. (I.e management changes and transfer budgets) He won't be advising them to just find the cheapest option as is usual this past 5 years.

The silence is a huge problem for us and has been always under Lerner

If we are, like I'm guessing, after plenty of players but they're rejecting us because we're too far adrift, then why aren't we leaking that? If Liverpool were after a player but he was rejecting them because they haven't got CL they'd have half of their mob in the media questioning who the **** he thinks he is, why aren't we doing the same? Adobe, byram, if we were after them and they said no why didn't we put it out there and then get Merson, collymore etc to criticise them for being billy big bollocks? We do nothing, we have absolutely no clue how to even try and use the media to influence our own fan base let alone influence football

Look at gold and Sullivan, pair of bellends, both can happily use SSN to punch above their weight, look at the venkys (the **** venkys ffs!) possibly the worst owners ever, at they knew to throw their fans a bone and put in stupid offers for raul and Ronaldinho

Our owner and his band of merry men are sat in utter silence giving off one impression and one impression only - they don't know what they're doing

Remi Garde has come out and said pretty much that is the case.

Gabby lost his speed and really his ability when he was told to bulk up. He was a one dimensional player that was effective yet management cut it from him

He decided to bulk up all by himself. Houllier was very critical of his weight gain when he got here.

    OS

I was just pointing out the facts. The club has said (and Fox confirmed) that he does the same job he did at Arsenal, which the OS says includes players contracts and scouting. Ergo he is involved in the transfer process. That's all I wished to clarify. It's something we've not had properly organised till he was appointed, and it was a good thing to sort out.

The quote you quoted does say very similar to be fair so that may well exclude the scouting bit.

again watching U7s is not the point really as he is talking about lower league games and facilities that scouts wont visit

How can they watch these 7 year olds and tournaments if they are refusing to visit the facilities they would be using?

  9. Why wouldn't you want a player that improves your team?

Because I'm looking beyond the end of next week.

Look, maybe I'm wrong. But by and large, centre-backs don't last until their mid-30's in this division any more. Even reliable performers drop off a cliff at around Lescott's age, look what happened to Distin. My fear is that he comes, robs 12-18 months of development off Clark, Clark comes back into the team rusty and now not at the required level, and January or June 2017 we're looking to buy an expensive Clark and Lescott replacement.

Dustin is about 4/5 years older than Lescott. We could get another two good years out of Lescott.

  10. Remember when we actually let Cahill go because 'Zat Knight is better'! :puke:

We let him go because he wanted first team football and Knight was happy being second choice at his boyhood club.

Knight played pretty much every game in his first season with us.

  11. These days I find it almost unsettling going to sleep without something on.

TV, radio, music, podcast, laptop anything.

I don't even watch or listen to whatever it is. It's just on.

Helps me zone out and I'm asleep in seconds. Alone with my thoughts is much more restless than having something on.

I've also never understood the blackout thing. I could sleep outside in bright daylight if I wanted to.

Just admit you're scared of the dark. We won't think less of you...
