  1. This probably isn’t the thread for this but….

Last night’s game between WHU and Spuds reminded me so much of when we played Everton away under O’Neill and won 2-3 in the last minute (A Young last min winner).

I bet last night Spuds fans felt just like we did that night, bouncing, chasing a CL spot, exiting players, last minute winner from a wonder kid, manager running onto the pitch afterwards ‘you’re a genius! genius!’.

    Now look at us.

    Bugger.

Thing is Spuds are going to kick on unlike us – no chance Bale will be going to Ci£y etc.

I can only hope that just like Spuds in the way they lost it under Ramos and almost got relegated that we will one day be the same and be back up there fighting at the top of the league.

    Somehow doubt it though.

    Bugger.

The major difference between us then and Spurs now, is that they have already proved to their best players they are capable of Champs League.

  2. Remember him playing against West Ham (full debut?) the first game after MON left, he was good that day, calm, showed promise. Today he was brilliant, much better than he has been this season.

Wasn't his full debut in MON's last season against Fulham.

  3. At a guess, Given, Dunne, Ieland, Gabby, Bent are probably on £50k a week. Move maybe one or two of them on and Hutton and Warnock. We might be able to bring in some players on similar money.

This is all just guess work.

  4. and me.

Lambert as the manager is the easy target, the wrong one but the easy one.

We are in this state not just because of this season but because of lerner's ineptness. Sure there have been mistakes and criticisms that are justified of the manager, like all managers. The difference is other managers have the time and space to make those mistakes, with lambert because of the state of the club every decision has to be spot on, he can afford no mistakes. Well no manager is that good to make no mistakes.

I still believe he is the best manager we could get. What he needs is support and backing , just the thing he isn't getting.

How much backing does he need to beat a League 2 team over 180 minutes.

  5. they might be on high wages but they need playing, if he cant buy new then he needs to play who will keep us up

benteke needs a rest anyway and only be bit part super sub, lowton is still young as well, and as for LB, well, warnock is still probably the best out of the 3 of them

hutton - vlaar - dunne - warnock, may be just what we need to reduce our goal conceding, with bent having more involvement

other than that, the club need to be stricter with makoun as well, tell him to sort himself out, and get back here, or no more wages for the remainder of his contract, surely the club has rights as well?

Cant agree with Hutton, i think Lowton is an improvement. Lichaj, Stevens and Bennent have been much worse at times than Warnock.

  6. I don't see how Faulkner's more to blame than Lerner. He doesn't scout the players either.

And don't be fooled into thinking it's all coming out of Lerner's pocket - it's not. It's all being leveraged against the club as loans. Loans that are earning Lerner a higher rate of interest than he'd be getting from keeping his money in the bank.

Are you sure its All loans, in sure read somewhere that it was 50/50 between loans from his family trust and money put in.

  7. Very poor today and as such it is hard to give any player a rating.

What i will say though is that this 5-3-2 needs dropping. I know when he first adopted it we managed to pick up some decent results, Norwich in the cup and Liverpool but looking at those games a midfield was just as poor and over run as it has been since Xmas, the only difference in those games were that our inexperienced backline managed to scrap us through while we nicked goals on the counter. It was only so long we could rely on those sort of performance before it went wrong.

  8. When they scored their 3rd lambert went into the dugout sat down and didn't come back

    Was all a bit McLeish

I noticed that too, was wondering where he went. He even sent the fitness coach to get the subs as they were all warming up at the time,

Despite the recent setbacks i still have faith that he will turn it around. Was he my first choice in the summer? No. I would rather have had Martinez as he was/is the more proven of the two. But up til Xmas and his signings so far all seemed to be gelling he just needs to drop the 5-3-2.

  9. He is a decent player to keep around. You would think his wage demands wouldn't be to high so i'd give him a new contract if he is happy being here as cover for the back 4.

A lot of people on this place moan or have moaned about in the past a lack of depth to the squad. Lichaj is exactly the sort of player we have a chance of bulking the team up with, just because he isn't a top quality player doesn't mean he can not do a job and should release him.
