  1. Why is everybody flaming anyone who's voiced the opinion that they're not happy with the contract?

I for one think it is a bit odd that a manager who has just presided over the worst home record in our history has been rewarded with a new contract.

Well, you could atart by looking at the reasons WHY,

  2. Most of that is thanks to the hardwork, loyalty dedication of PL. There are many managers that would have walked if they were in the same position as Lambert.

That's not factual though is it? That's your spin on it.
NO..its factual Either that or you have completely misundersttood whats happened at VP in the last few years!
  3. I think as fans positivity, good results and good news in general are something we've forgotten how to digest.

I want Lambert to do well and the club to succeed as a result, but I can't do a heel turn and pretend the last three seasons didn't happen.

Obviously if having Keane alongside him and a different transfer policy means that the suffering was worth it then amen.

But you'd think we'd need more than 4 games to prove the worth of Lambert and Hutton.

    just saying

long may the positivity continue though

4 games to prove the worth of Lambert??.....have you completely lost the plot? Have you not observed whats been happening on AND off the pitch?

Do you know about the financial constraints in place? Did you not hear about the bomb squad?

PL as kept us in the PL despite those difficult circumstances.....that in itself is a miracle. Moreover, we are now financially stable and moving in the right direction after 3 torrid seasons. Most of that is thanks to the hardwork, loyalty dedication of PL. There are many managers that would have walked if they were in the same position as Lambert. I thank him and congratulate him on a well deserved contract extension!

Sorry had I known his spin/PR team would be posting on here I wouldn't have dared expressed an opinion.

NOT spin....purely factual, unless you've been asleep for the last 2 seasons!?

  5. Probably not the best idea to give a guy a new contract right after the team has done well - just as it would be idiotic to sack him if we had lost a few on the trot. I just can't forget the woeful strategy he has kept the last few seasons, before changing it around this summer. I mean, does he have the slightest idea of what he is doing? Or is it just chance? He could have gone for these players two years ago, but he opted for young "talents" back then. Where are Tonev, Bacuna, Lowton, El Ahmadi, Bennett, Luna, Sylla, Helenius and Bowery? That's right, not a single one of them are playing for us anymore - and the strategy to buy them almost threw us down in the Championship.

Has he learned a lot and become a better manager? I really hope so, because sometimes you develop a whole lot from your mistakes. And I like Lambert, that's the only reason why I have never said outright that we should sack him. If we had the same results under Steve Bruce or Chris Hughton, I would have asked for their departure a long time ago.

Have you SERIOUSLY been following the Villa for the last 2 seasons? If you have been, you would be able to answer your own questions :)

  6. Great, great news.

PL has performed miracles in VERY difficult circumstances. A very loyal and honourable man who stuck with us when managers such as Pulis walked out because of lack of funds.

Respect to PL...a well deserved contract extension.

Now for Vlaar, Delph and Grealish. Positive times ahead!!

  7. I've been optimistic since day one. September is a nightmare month though...

No its NOT....think back to last season! We are so much stronger this year. Wouldnt be surprised if we equal or improve on those 5 matches from last season. I prefer to concentrate on the Oct/Nov/Dec months when the teams of similar standing to us must be beaten at VP whilst snatching points away from home!

  8. Manure wont want Vlaar in January IMO. He has a limited shelf life and LVG will undoubtedly be looking longterm as he has already stated. I think concrete will sign his penultimate 2 or 3 contract with us before moving on to a European club.

As for TC,,,,well, he best get off to a good start with Villa or it wont be too long before he becomes an obvious target for the boo boys.....that may well work in our favour!

  9. He better hit the ground running because there is only one midfield spot up for grabs and he's got to get ahead of Richardson who is playing well at the minute and Sanchez who will soon be up to speed

My thoughts exactly. Villa fans are unlikely to be too patient with TC. There will always be those that believe he his using us to meet his own needs!

  10. Comfortable mid table finish for me.

I am not panicking at all about the next 5 games...we are not the only side that have to play those 5. Whoever, can gain the most points from those games will be in a good position. After all, we done well against those sides last season, except for Everton who are leaking goals. Moreover, we ran both Arsenal and Liverpool close at home and would have gained all three points at Anfield with our current defence. We also beat Man city and Chelsea at home and were robbed of a point at the Bridge. We had a great win at the Emirates on the opening day and lost to a last minute goal at Goodison Park. I believe that we can do equally well against those sides again especially with confidence being high and a new found resilience. Important that heads do not drop when the first defeat is experienced.

  11. Very good first half. Went for the jugular. Hull were lucky to still be in the game at half time. I feel Lambert played it a bit too cautious in the second half, This gave Hull the imputus and we very nearly threw it away. Gabby and Weimann had their best games for a while. I think Sanchez is still a little bit off the pace and gave away a needless free kick that led to the goal. Defending alot better this season. Back 4 done well again, albeit, with little threat from the 'toothless tigers'. But as they say, you can only beat whats in front of you.

Grealish had them worried. And the fact that the first 3 times he touched the ball a Hull player was yellow carded....will probably remain an altime record....doubt if we will ever see a stat like that again!

Overall, very pleased with 7 pts from 9. Lets hope we do some business in the transfer window tomorrow!
