on what basis dont you like it though?

me personally i don't care, i don't know why they chose to do it beyond trying to tie it in to the aesthetic of the detailing on the sleeve

England (Men's Team) 2024/25 Match Home Men's Nike Dri-FIT ADV Football Authentic Shirt

Detailing on the sleeve is fine.

Just don't like the fact that the St Georges flag has been changed on a whim by Nike and the FA have accepted it.

Sooooo you dodged the question, why weren’t you outraged the last time there was a St George’s cross that wasn’t red on the shirt?

Just to clarify, I'm not outraged,  I don't like it.

    Personal preference

If the design on the Goalie kit above isn't a St.George's cross, what is it?

Not every cross is a St. Georges cross, what makes you think the one on Joe Harts shirt is a St Georges flag and not just part of an intricate design

I don’t see why that makes a difference except for a convenient excuse for you. But anyway, see the post above. The ones on one of the other shirts posted are standalone. But they’re not red. Why are they ok but this one isn’t?

    edit: this one

I do not need a convenient excuse, I personally don't like what has been done, if you do fine and more power to you.

I don't even know what you're arguing anymore. So it's not a flag, if it's not a red St. George's cross on a white background? By that standard, Nike has done nothing wrong.

But I'm sure Mr. Hart here is simply wearing a shirt that advocates teaching maths in schools, with all those different colored plusses. It's certainly not a re-use of a national symbol.

Nike has produced a US kit (I own it) where the flag is in red white and blue, but it's printed on the inside of the neck so it gets soaked with sweat. Is that showing respect for the flag? Has anyone asked the flag its thoughts on its usage?

I'm not arguing, merely putting across my point of view.

And it must be a flag as Nike themselves have said they have given the flag a playful update

Were you similarly outraged at all the other times the flag has been changed on football shirts?

I'm not outraged at all, I'm just pointing out that if a country's flag is going to be included on a country's shirt then it should be the country's colours not something that Nike and the FA think looks good.

The photo examples that have already been uploaded do not just show a stand alone St. Georges cross,  it is included as part of the shirt design, as I said shirt designs change with fashions and trends.

  7. For all I care the England shirt can be a full on rainbow, black with purple spots, hoops, stripes, etc. anything really because its a shirt that changes with fashion and trends. We even had a grey one once because it "looked good with jeans".

But changing the country's flag colours is another thing, that is our national symbol, identity whatever you want to call it.

Lets see how Saudi, Qatar, America would react if there flags were given a 'playful upgrade'

  8. Because one of my uncles didn't go on strike and my other uncles did, they never spoke to each other during or after the strike. Unfortunately not speaking to each other continued until they were dead.

That's how the strike had long term effects on friends, families, and communities as a whole.

A great picture of social history and the old Trinity.

back in the day when you had to queue for hours and hours for tickets.

    Season ticket holders, programme stubs.

Some of our fans will have no idea about this 🥴🫢😀

edit: i remember queuing many a time for long hours.

I'm probably in that queue somewhere.

Started queuing by the Holte End thinking that I'd never make it to the ticket office before they had sold out. Luckily I did and enjoyed a great day at Wembley.

  10. With all the time added on at the end of each half now, Forest actually scored their first goal after 50 minutes (45+5 additional) and their second goal after 47 minutes!

But forget them this is about Villa, great result Saturday.

Nice to see so many playing really well, so hard to pick MOM but for me I thought Lenglet looked really composed all through the game considering he had to play RCB then LCB. McGinn was brilliant, Tielemans I though played really well, Watkins and Bailey were their usual selves. Thought Digne steadied us as well when he came on. Ramsey looking back to normal.

Extra trains around full time would be nice. Miss the 22:10 from Witton to Walsall tonight it’s an hour wait for the next one.

    You can get the 22:40

I'm hoping there is no extra time and penalties tonight otherwise it will be after midnight before I get home.

  12. As some have alluded to, the only thing you have diminishing is time.

My old man (HEITS) had a paper cutting with a verse on in his wallet for years which I remember to this day:

He gave his health in search of wealth
    to gold became a slave
He gave his wealth in search of health
    and only found a grave
