  1. for what its worth i think him and ireland could be fantastic for us this season. they are both creative and intelligent (at least in football terms) and could be a dream come true for bent and cnz. reading these boards i feel like im one of the only people who actually feel optimistic about this season. we have quality players in this squad (makoun being one of them) and some very talented young players itching for their chance!
  2. just wondered if the scouts were aware of the viral video of JPA's son doing the rounds? the next messi? it would be quality if he came through the ranks at villa!
  3. I have it on great authority that ash was on 75k a week so i assume we offered him more to stay. recon bent would be on about that too (though the guy i know hasnt see that yet). i say offer N'Zog 60k a week and i can't see him turning that down! we have to get this guy in!
  4. I have only posted a couple of times on here but had to add my voice to the numerous others on here expressing the hurt and betrayal a lot of villa fans will (he says in the vain hope it does not happen) feel if Mcleash is appointed. The reason for the protests and backlash and threats of nonrenewal of season tickets etc is not (just) because he is from our poor relations across the city but because he is not the level of manager we feel a proud club like ours should pursue. First we were told of the 5 year plan for champions league football, that went to pot but external circumstances can be pointed to for that (such as man city's new wealth). Then we are assured of our status as not being a selling club, now we will face loosing our best player 3 years in a row! We are told that the reason you are here is to listen to the fans, although you are no longer posting (very much tin hats on and heads down approach may i add) i have no doubt that you will still be reading these forums so now is the time to really listen. This appointment really will undo all the great work you, randy and the board have done since you took charge. The stuff with acorns, all the refurbishing work which has gone on, the free scarves we got at sheffield united game, all of this is truely appreciated by all the villans out there but make no mistake appointing Mcleash WILL alienate the fans who lets face it are the clubs life blood. It is felt so strongly i have even seen people saying bring deadly doug back (!!!). This appointment (if it happens) flys in the face of everything that we were lead to believe you and the board stood for. We thought we had a voice, that we were valued but if Mcleash is sat in our dugout come the 1st game of the season then the above cannot be the case. Never in my time as a villa fan have i seen pictures like last night from the villa faithful. I guess we have to ask a question in order to not get modded so mine will be: can you let us in on the process by which you came to see Mcleash as the one to unite our club after a dismal season when other potentially world class managers such as Sanchez Flores or Rijkaard who appear to have publically announced their interest in the job are discarded? For the first time in my life as a villa supporter (over 20 years) the club have left me feeling dejected, deppressed and unvalued. I will always support this club, it is in my blood but right now i do not feel i can support this board (and i never thought i would say that ) Your response is not expected but would be welcomed.
  5. Just joined and not got the time at the moment to go back though this thread but my shout would be Moyes and then Lambert. Moyes has the experience and quality required and on a 'relative' shoe string always has everton there or ther abouts. Imagine if he had the backing to go out and spend like we did in January! He also isn't afriad to cast his net far and wide and can clearly spot a player. If Moyes didn't want it id like to see us take a gamble on Lambert, he has done well at every club he has been at as a manager, playing progressive attractive attacking football and as a player clearly had the winning mentality (including winning the champions league!). He could be our SAF! I know that this has probably already been said on previous pages but just wanted to lend my support to these two! UTV
  6. Hi General, First time poster here. I appreciate that you may not be able to comment yet but there are reports in the media that GH has been advised to retire from a managerial position. If this is the case i for one would be truely disappointed not to get the opportunity to see him build his own team. Many of my villa fan mates have been less than happy with our performance while he has been in charge but I have always defended him and argued that it would take time to convert the players to his way of thinking and style of play. If GH does unfortunately have to step out of the hot seat I would like to reitterate the previous posters comments about a DOF role. He has fantastic contacts and his highly regarded in the game. Having said this i would also hope that GMac would not then automatically take the reigns as I (and I would assume, talking amoungst my mates, 99% of villa fans would agree) don't think he is quite up to the task at a club the size of ours. I have nothing against the guy but would prefer to see somebody in the vein of Moyes (or an exciting talent such as Lambert at Norwich) have a crack. Apologies for the massive post and like i said i hope GH makes a full recovery and we see him in the dugout at VP next season with his brand of football having us challenging once more for Champs League footy!
