  1. The only thing I want to know is why quite a few want Moyes. It surely can't be because he has such a great managerial record. What is it with him that makes him such a strong canditate compared to for instace Rijkaard?

    Moyes has no Ambition!

exactly, I hope we appoint Rjikard or Hughes and we smash them next season just to show him the choices he made and what he has to live with, then again I could be gettin a bit carried away!

  2. It annoys me when all these people say we need to be patient. "oh, Houllier's only been gone a few days".

Now in the case of MON, fair enough, it needed time. But in this case when, at the very least, we've had a good idea that Houllier would be leaving most big companies would have a very good idea of the list of replacements ready should that situation arise. It just makes sense. I'd hate to think Villa didn't even plan for a very likely set of circumstances.

So really, most of the research, short-listing and due diligence (for want of a better word) should have been done BEFORE Houllier left. It is perfectly reasonable to do in the circumstances and could easily have been thrown away should Houllier have remained.

So considering that now should be done, the actual process of getting the man in should be day to day until we find someone who wants to take this collapsing team on and then a week maybe to dot i and cross t's extra.

Under that time scale it should be all done and dusted THIS week. What could possibly take longer than that? Talk of it taking to end of June is ridiculous. We've all had a pretty good idea Houllier was leaving since April - those at the club probably had an even better idea and should at least have planned for a 'worst case scenario'.

How can it take a team over 2 months to find a new manager if this speculation of it taking a couple more weeks be true? Time will be a killer on this one and make fans, sponsors, ticket sales and players very nervous about the future.

Agree with every word - good post. 2 theories

    1.We are waiting for Hughes

2.We aren't good at manager hunting.

I honestly believe that if we wait any longer than the end of this week then we are simply waiting for hughes, I mean its not like there is much to sort out at this club is there? THERES **** LOADS

  3. If Ancelotti has really not been approached by any clubs then surely there has to be some worry amongst us Villa supporters. What the hell is Lerner actually doing?!

Thats my concern TBH. - its all very well taking your time - but what actually are they doing - waiting for postal applications.

My only hope is that its all down to hughes contract. But if Randy paid off houllier for £5m - then what would it cost to buy out the last year of Hughes contract at Fulham ? 700k ? - Doesn't add up.

It wont cost jack shit to have hughes at this club, because of the clause in his contract after the 31st of this month!

  4. I love this Drama....!

Has any one got a link to Villa saying thats they do not want Hughes as Manager....?

Pat Murphy would be the most reliable source..!

Pat Murphy has insisted that Mark Hughes is not on the agenda on 5 Live.

Pat murphy is as bad as the sky sports reporters, where are they getting this info from, I think theyre just making it up tbh...

there basing the fact that MH said there had been no contact, he would say that, fulham would go mental if they thought there was an illegal approach?!

  5. Are we totally discounting hughes on a sky sports understands ? Or is there a club statement - still think hughes is most probable maybe randy doesn't want to be seen as poaching - please not rafa or mclaren

This is what I dont get, Sky sprts are saying that sky sources have heard and then they suddenly change that into avfc say that hes not in the running, talk about twisting words..

I think we should be looking at Mat Kendrick because avfc seem to tip him off first, if hes got nothing to say about it, then I wont believe it tbh

Kendrick has been quiet since this afternoon.

SSN have just said Fulham have released a statement saying nobody can approach Hughes until his contract has officially expired at the end of June. I doubt we will want to wait that long.

I dont think theyve got this right, I think he can talk to other clubs but he will not be released from duties till end of June

  7. Please not Hughes! Please not Hughes! Please not Hughes!

Why not, I dont understand all this anti hughes, him and ancelotti are the best people for the job

Hughes is just mediocre. At a time when we need an inspirational manager signing in order to restore some faith and keep our best players, I think Hughes would just be a disappointment.

What I don't get is all the talk about Owen Coyle? Hell, why not go for Paul Jewell.

What about him is Mediocre, back up what u say with truth, did u see what he did for blackburn, they where well and truly up shit creek without a paddle until he turned up, he could be a success at villa I reckon

  8. OK so I've been away today.

Just saw that Hughes has quit Fulham - pretty obvious he's going somewhere and most likely it's us. :(

Anything new from reporters or people "in the know"?

Well matt kendrick has dismissed the hughes being favourite claims and claims that ancellotti is number 1 target, whether or not we can attract carlo is another story all together...

then hughes resigns and mat has been silent since

  9. Ok, so let's pretend that Ancelotti either doesn't want to come, we can't afford him etc and Villa have done all they can to get him but it's simply not going to happen - who do you want then?

It's like saying you've won a car: it's either a Ferrari or a Honda Civic Type R.... your mind dreams of the Ferrari for ages but when you get given the Civic, despite the tinge of disappointment you realise you've got a great car.

At least we got rid of the Robin Reliant...

in my eyes hughes is the back up, and a bloody good one at that, second choice just behind ancellotti, who knows whats going on right now
