Their pedigree is finishing mid-table, is that what we want?Look, it's just my opinion. I dont want my club managed by someobody with absolutely no pedigree whatsoever. Especially when Hughes is available and we could have got Martin Jol.Bollocks is it......
Martin Jol was a bout of food poisoning away from the champs league with Spurs and finished 5th with Hamburg and 2nd with Ajax
Mark Hughes had limited resources at both Blackburn (where i believe he had a top 7 finish) and Fulham (who incidently finished 8th last year).
He didnt really get a fair crack of the whip at city did he
Their pedigree certainly isnt mid table
With Spurs and lots of money spent he finished 5th.
With the biggest team in Holland he finished 2nd.
Hughes has never finished outside mid-table - and was not winning enough games with city after sunking over £150m on lescott, santa cruz etc. Their pedigree certainly is mid-table.
Oh come one - you have to spend money to get to top 6 - look what we spent under MON
Biggest team in Holland?? Who cares ?? You are saying his pedigree is mid table and i'm teling you thats Horseshit when you look at his record
Hughes finished 7th with Blackburn and Fulham with little funds. So your statement 'Hughes has never finished outside midtable' is bollocks i'm afraid
it is bollocks, hughes finished 15th in his first season at blackburn, i wouldnt call that mid table, he also didnt get fulham 7th, so that also is bollocks.
his average position is 10th when managing premier league teams, thats in his 11 years as a football manager
that also included spunking £128 million in one summer at man city ( he spunked a further £123 million the following summer)
Lets be realistic, Hughes could match any progress that MON made with the possibility he might not make so many god awful signings, fans calling for european managers are deluded..
we need to look at whats obtainable at avfc, moyes, hughes & coyle.. I dont think 2 will leave there respected clubs so hughes is by far the best and ONLY candidate realistically left!!!
I think Coyle will leave Bolton if we show we want him, he left Burnley after all.
yeah hes more likely to leave than moyes is

Right so this media polava pretty much only leaves;
Moyes
Hughes
Coyle
in the realistic running for the job, hughes is obviously the fav as hes unnattached, I wish people would focus on the facts with martinez too, the guy was pushed into a corner and had to take a massive gamble on possibly not having a job next year, he didnt take it, however HUGHES HAS
so failing hughes going to chelsea I cant see why the club wont apprach him?
Also surely he cant be working now that JOL is at the club so surely villa just have to approach fulham for a chat!!
-
Sorry guys can you please catch me up? Been out for a few hours and seems like via Twitter, QSF or Moyes is back in the running and RM has turned us down?
Please go back a few pages and read, ur like the 5th person to ask!
-
Pause for thought anyone?
Oh yes please!!! She can manage me any day of the week!!
i hope its the next villa manager think of who will we sign
Giggs?
-
So has Martinez turned us down?
Not officially, some joker from talksport said he was ITK and said he had, but talksport are like the anti villa channel atm, bunch of tossers, especially that prick goughy!
it aint goughy he is fighting our corner, its that ginger PRICK durham thats been the PRICK
ah my mistake, its one whos saying that are fans are arrogant, instead of overly optimstic., etc... u can just tell hes a scouser, absolute tosser

OS :
AVFCOfficial - aston villa can reveal today that Steve McClaren will be unveiled as manager, a Press conference has been called tomorrow for 10amOnly Joking
-
At least make your trolling less obvious.Steve is better anyway, it's destiny for him to lead us to glory. What's "trolling"?, I don't speak nerd.
what dp u think of marlon king, top quality that
-
Maybe GMAC is interviewing moyes for the job? I mean honeslty, I think we need to accept mr moyes is staying with the toffs
there is some funny shit posted on this board!
-
so avfc have basically offered him the job then if its all to be resolved by 1.30 tomorrow?
-
I tell u what, what a bloke dave whelan is, and if u hear the things he has to say about avfc then maybe we should all be a bit more patient, after all there are ways of doing business!
-
So who do they think it is Pilchard?
I will laugh my ass off if benitez is appointed, how stupid would SSN look lol
-
His Inter season wasnt that bad lol, he won alot more than he lost or drew, I tell u what if he comes to aston villa and people moan then we will never make it anywhere because OUR FANS RUIN EVERYTHING!
-
my question would be, "is there anyone the avfc support will back?", I mean come on guys this guy has managed liverpool to champions league glory, if he signs for aston villa he needs a fair crack at the whip, some of you lot are a fickle bunch!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I would be excited by Coyle or Martinez personally. Probably the two most inexperienced, certainly at this level, but it doesn't seem to have harmed Guardiola. I think both of them try to play football in the right way and have done good jobs at their respective clubs (given resources etc.). They could both be here long term and build something special (hopefully).
McLaren would be my worst nightmare. Can't see any positives except listening to him speak with a Brummie accent after a few months could be quite funny I suppose.
Hughes. Okay but not inspiring. He has a drab personality and seems a bit petty to me.
Maybe we should try for Giggsy as player manager - part ex with Ash. On second thoughts he would probably get homesick. I have heard that, whilst he is happy in Manchester, he does Miss Wales occasionally!
I think Hughes would be described as the safe bet, Benitez as the ambitious and martinez and coyle as the gamble, and mclaren as the controversial because so many fans dislike him for one reason or another
-
I tell you what I have never seen so many rediculous posts in one thread, ive just been listening to talksport on the way home and the guy on there summed it up,
any avfc fan who thinks we are going to attract ancelotti, deschamps, rijkaard etc is bark raving mad, either that or your living in the past. I mean come on, we are NOT a top 6 team now, we got close under Oneil and we could not make the next step.
It really annoys me at this club how many fickle fans we have, they are exactly the ones who dont give a single manager 2 weeks let alone 2 years at our club and ultimately that is our down fall... In one way I hope McClaren gets the job so these fickle fans that want to hand in there season ticket can because there the type we dont need in the ground creating an atmosphere so shit that no one would want to stay around... rant over
On to relistic matters, its going to be one of the following four more than likely so I suggest we start looking at the positives in these guys maybe?;
Hughes
Martinez
McClaren
Coyle
theres an outside chance it might be Moyes or Benitez or possibly even someone else we havnt though of.. but comeon, lets be a bit more realistic guys..

is it just me ore have betfred just suspended all betting on the villa position?

Dare I say it I think RAFA has the most promise here, look at his honours top to bottom
Your right he has the most
thanks, but does that make him the best choice?

What points to Grayson being a bad appointment? This is the problem, everyone wants to critiscise before anyone is given a chance, hes done a reasonable job at leeds
