    We could.

I don’t believe we will. I think what will likely happen is we’ll bounce around 3rd to 7th over the next few years, trophy here and there. I’m saying that almost flippantly but that would be fantastic.

But yes, we could win it. If we can play the best team off the park, beat the second best team home and away…it wouldn’t be the most ridiculous thing to say that a team that can do that could ultimately win it.

Pep leaving City would be a game changer with Klopp gone too.  I think we could be challenging in 3 years if Unai stays.

If we get champions league and win the conference this season will be right up there with anything we have done in modern history. Probably our third best season after winning the league and then winning the European cup.

I have absolutely no doubt that by the time Emery leaves us - which will hopefully be long from now and his retirement from football - he will undoubtedly be the greatest manager in our modern history.

True.  I often wonder what our ceiling is under Unai.  Do we think we could win the Premier League within 5 years?

Because booting the ball away is a booking for time wasting.
    This wasn’t time wasting

To a degree it delayed the restart, as Ollie didn't have a ball to take the penalty, then got further delayed when funnily enough the ball turned up from the crowd just as he was about to start his run up.

Isn't it because the ball is classed as dead after the goalie has saved it? that's why rebounds can't be scored.

Yeah that was the point, the ball was dead, the player booted it into the crowd which is pretty unsporting behaviour in comparison to going shoosh or asking where the ball is.

And their moaning, diving little prick of a right back gets away with waving the imaginary yellow card in the refs face, which is far more of an actual yellow card offence. The ref was a complete clown.

He did get booked for that, the TV just didnt show it.  Should've got a second for a foul on Digne a couple of minutes later as well but the ref bottled it.

  6. One thing I don't get is why the Lille player didn't get booked for booting the ball into the crowd in the first place.  Kick the ball away in normal play you get a booking and if he hadn't done that, Emi doesn't have to ask for a ball, then avoids getting a yellow.

  7. We played most of the game last night in energy-saving mode, a lot of it was walking pace trying to invite the press and I'm pretty sure Unai did that for a reason.  The only ones I have worries about their workload are Tielemans, Digne and Cash.  I think Digne and Cash you could give 45 minutes to each if needs be, with Konsa covering right back one half, then Lenglet left back the other half.  Tielemans is harder to replace, it would be a big game to start Iroegbunam in.

nothing to lose in appealing the second yellow .. if its a bookable offence to ask the ball boy for a football then we might as well give up and go home

Sadly I've never known a yellow card to get rescinded other than when the ref's booked the wrong player.  It's **** stupid but I'd be very surprised if they did anything.  I think this is just Emi's reputation coming back to bite him on the bum, allied with an absolute scissors abortion of a referee.

  9. I dunno whether he was ill or something last night but he looked way off the pace.  Hopefully just a bad night and he will be back to his best on Sunday.

Commentator for our game wasn't great. Didn't know what was happening with the Emi situation and proceeded to speculate instead.

The co-commentator could barely hide her contempt for him at some stages last night.  I swear he's done all our Euro games this season and been awful.

There were a couple of moments where I thought he showed great calmness and discipline, and I thought the yellow was completely undeserved

Yeah I think his yellow was the shittiest decision on a very shit night of refereeing.  That and not giving their right back a second yellow for the foul on Digne two minutes after getting booked for waving the imaginary yellow card.

Wonder if their diving prick of a full back is gonna get booked?

The right back got booked for flashing the yellow card, then did a late foul on Digne and should've been off.  The one actual decision to make and the ref bottled it.

  13. With Zaniolo going off, it's only Emi that's booked left on the pitch?  It's a legitimate tactic just to try and get one of theirs sent off in the second half, Bentaleb and the other guys will be tested if we get Rogers running at them and Bailey too in the second half.

    Yeah agreed.

I was more referencing that I didn't know if it was still the rule that if the foul carries on into the box it's a penalty. Or is it done on the initial contact

It's still the former, it's a penalty if the foul carries into the box, except for Utd against Bournemouth at the weekend.

all Cup games should be played at the lower league teams ground. Levels the playing field, more chance of an upset, home team gets the gate receipts. If a draw is made and its two teams from same league, then a draw is made as to where it is played

Gate receipts are split evenly in the FA Cup, hence why smaller teams like to play away at bigger grounds.

He did put Alverez on though who is a superb striker. Many times he has come on for Haaland and scored.

He could've had both on, Real were knackered and not providing any real threat the other way.  Once he came on it was so much easier to defend as you knew they weren't going to put any crosses in the box.  They spent the entire second half of extra time just passing the ball from side to side on the edge of the box waiting for an opportunity that never came.  Still, what's done is done, we just have to get 4th.

  17. Silva's penalty wasn't that bad, just a cracking gamble by the keeper not to dive.

I still can't believe he took Haaland off, all he needs is a half chance and you can vary your attacks a bit more when he is there.  City did nothing in extra time.  Plus he'd have taken a penalty.

One last ditch effort to save the game and you take a corner like that !!

Took the free kick quickly too when it was just about the perfect spot for a shot.
