Downing has said if he stays he will still give 100%. The board should take advantage of this and not offer him for sale, or ask £25 mil for him no less.

Im coming round to hughes I guess, case of having to mi thinks. But in reality I dont think he is any better than Houllier. He would not have the experince to start change at the club like Houllier was. He's also not the kind of manger who is gonna keep players here for seasons to come. I would have thought the best appointment would have been someone who can start keeping our players, instead of them fooking off everytime they have a sniff at the dollar bills............................I mean Champions League football of course!

I did'nt think the board wanted a standard kind of manager, more of a tactician maybe, seems a bit of a step backwards.

In the world of politics, you release a big news story sometimes to cover other stories that you may want hidden. Remember when GM and GH said no definite forward signings and then Bent appeared 2 days later when the negotiations must have been in full swing.

Could it be that Villa are trying to cover a story about the next manager, a story that may have appeared but forgotten about. Gone back through a couple of days headlines and can not find an obvious one.

Downing is going nowhere. Its just his agent getting other clubs a sniff so he can negotiate a better contract. It went sour after his agent met Randy and Falkner about his contract. His agent obviously did'nt like what was offered!

All agents now want there players on 100k a week contracts, unfortunately we are not offering that. His agent is also Stevie Gerards so is why he is being linked to Liverpool. I dont believe there's much in it!

In the end it takes a special manager to even keep players at a club. I do believe some are capable of this. Moyes and Hughes are'nt those managers, not even close!!!!

Hughes/Moyes on a par for me...realistically 6th is the best we can do with our current finances. I think either Moyes or Hughes could achieve that.

Money plays a massive part in football no doubt. But if we can get a manager with the drive and anbition to train our players to the max and get 110% out of every player, there is no reason with cant be challenging for trophies and better than 6th.

Moyes has had his chances to leave Everton before but has decided against it. Maybe 'he' lacks ambition. Surely if he had the ambition he would have taken us up on the offer before we employed Houllier.

Hughes may get us 6th, but I want more. We have a new team coming with so many released, so we need to make the right choice and for the long haul.

Its not just us this is happening too. Its happening at every club. You cant blame the board, sometimes you cant blame the players. Its the word removed agents who pull the strings.

They talk champions League and silver wear to players to get them to move for big salaries which in turn line there pockets.

You wont get a player move to a top team for equal or less salary, even if it means Trophies.

If you read the story about Rooney's situation, you would know Rooney never wanted to leave Man U, it was his agent forcing hiim to put in a transfer request, because at first Man U refused to extend his contract with the deal his agent wanted. It was agent/player blackmail which got him that deal. we all know that.

Stuart downing has obviously done this on behalf of his brain washing agent.

This is what happens. Stuart will first tell all his fans how much he loves Villa and will never leave, this may be the truth. The (words removed) agent tells Stuart to hold fire on his contact, which in turn attracts other clubs interest to purchase him and maybe tap his agent up. The (Cu****) agent then speaks to our board and tells them there is loads of interest in our boy and he will need him on lots more money (i.e agent gets a huge bung) or else he will consider leaving. This can happen even though I believe stuart has no real intention of leaving.

Its all about the agents, they want there players on as much money as humanly possible, because they can get away with it. They are all disgusting words removed. Most think of themselves not the players, fact!!

The thing we need to do is if Stuart does not accept the deal on the table, is to offer him for £30 million. If no one offers that figure he has to stay. If we get £30 million, hey ho. We will replace him.

By the way Stuarts agent is Struan Marshall, the same guy who looks after Steven Gerard, so his making noooooooo money lately so will be looking for a good bonus! He has recently took on Stuart, after his previous agent was arrested for fraud, so is looking to make some money from him.
