  1. Zaniolo has been getting better...

I'd actually like Villa to sign him should we qualify for CL.

He's versatile and Emery said he can play anywhere across the front three.

I assume that you know it's now Sunday.

You'll be out of the ground 2 hours before, you aren't going to be in a rush. Kill some time around the ground and then choose whatever method you like, including walking.

Official Villa app and BBC are saying Saturday at 3PM.

  3. I'll be at this with my Son for the second time in a season for the first time in so long.

Anyhow, we need to get back to New Street as quick as possible for a show in the evening at the Hippodrome at 19:15...is it possible and which is the fastest way to get back?

Do we take a chance on the train from Witton or check out the new bus service from Grosvenor Road?

Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Beckham among others were good Premier League players who struggled in international football conditions because they had no football brain

England had a potential continental midfield pairing in Hargreaves/Carrick but I bet never played a minute together for England

You are not wrong...although I think Beckham did have a good footballing brain...

Hargreaves or Carrick should have played in the middle with one of Gerrard or Lampard.

The 4-2 game when England played Ledley King in the middle and he looked very good....England had better options in the midfield but chose to play egos instead.

  5. Villa still don't need a new stadium...I'm against it.

There is plenty of room for improvement, there is space around the North Stand, car-park, clubshop, warehouse....heaps of space.

The parking can even go underground to make yet more space.

Building and architecture can be efficient where space is limited anyway so that should not be a illegitimate concern.

For as poor as he's been in spells, Diaby is 3rd on the team in overall npxG+xAG.

Still providing some end product. I think the build up part of his game is the weakest right now as he's a bit of a passenger (like Tielemans) when opponents try to press us high. But when we've got the ball, he's been pretty useful in the final third.

    Interesting statistics....

It just goes to show that for the remainder of the season Villa need to get Diaby in the team; thought he did track back quite successfully on a few occasions.

Also, the same for Digne over Moreno and Cash needs to be playing more often than not (he was great yesterday against Spam).

  7. Strange team selection from Emery, Villa looked unbalanced.

The subs changed the game and thought Diaby, Cash and Zaniolo were good.

Moyes is such a p***k bemoaning their disallowed handball goal, he seems surprised it's illegal in the game. Seriously WTF is up with that fool is he senile?

  8. Another who really helped us get back into the game...

Some good runs forward and very positive with the ball.

But yes that block saved us at the end.

  9. Diaby really turned the game when he came on...

He should be feeling good and pretty fit too, hopefully this can help Villa in the last part of the season.

  10. Be good if Villa can avoid a trickier team this time around....in the hope that said trickier team gets knocked out in this round which would really open up the opportunity for Villa to win the tournament.

I think Fiorentina would be trickiest so pretty sure that'll be who we get next. 🤔

  11. You might say he is raw has poor positioning but I see differently...

There is a hunger there to win. Also on the positioning thing Bailey made a run forward and was way out of position, Durán went immediately back to cover the vacant position. Sure maybe he was told to do so but it is part of the experience and his development.

Regardless of what you may think Durán was a constant handful for them. He will get better.

  12. Jhon Durán is very quick with the ball at his feet and caused them constant problems...

If Watkins is out Durán will be a handful for any team.

To be optimistic, I do think that a lot of these recent results are a bit self-inflicted. Some by injury, but some by straying away from what has made us strong.

With the right team balance, I think we still see out 5 wins to match or better Spurs over the stretch run here.

The additional absence of McGinn will hurt but we have the below left. Squint and I could see these results.

    West Ham (a) - D

    Wolves (h) - W

    City (a) - L

    Brentford (h) - W

    Arsenal (a) - L

    Bournemouth (h) - W

    Chelsea (h) - D

    Brighton (a) - W

    Liverpool (h) - L

    Palace (a) - W

17 points to get over the line and potentially Palace away to decide it. Still can't help but think Palace away might be the one to get it done.

A draw against Liverpool is possible...

Our fans are crap. Biggest game of the season and it’s quiet as ****. I was booing their possession by myself and my daughter had to tell me to stop because no one is going to join in.

    I was sober too.

Forget the shit songs. Just intimate the opponent for ffs.

I concur, don't get to the Villa too often living outside of England...

But the few matches I've been too over the last couple of seasons it's been far too quiet.

If I'm honest... Seeing the run in like that has only put more doubt in my mind.

That's a pretty brutal run in for us given the circumstances 🤦🏾‍♂️

The likes of Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth, Brighton and recently Palace aren't walkovers either.

Yup, our form isn't filling me with much confidence.

I'm hoping we hold on to fifth but there will be major doubts creeping in now, a couple of dodgy results and Manure could be interested in fifth place...
