  1. It would be fantastic to sign someone who really captures the imagination. A real bums in seats signing. Ribery, Nasri, Quaresma etc.

Didnt think that was MON's style? Looking back over the players he has signed at previous clubs, with a lot less money at hand ofc, it seems he prefers solid, hard working, team players above those tricky "jesus what was that" signings.

You say that but look at Young and Maloney. They're pretty similar to those mentioned ie tricky, pacey, skilful. But they're British and therefore have the "work ethic" on the field almost built into them, if you know what I mean.

I think I trust MON almost entirely when it comes to signings and it's good to see him taking in games abroad. I imagine his scouts are seeing ten times the games he sees that we don't know about.

  2. It is 'out there' but it's not that ridiculous, however I'm quite sure if we did show any interest, an Italian team would go for him, and knowing him he'd opt for Italy.

That's what you'd think but he has expressed an interest in playing in English football before. If we were looking for a signing to make the world sit up that would be it.

But it's just dreaming I suppose.

  3. This might be pretty out there, and I'm not normally one for suggesting outlandish targets, but the Real Ronaldo is available. He's only 30 and can still match the best when fit.

Capello wants him out just like Beckham.

There is the question of his temperament, his fitness, his wages and his willingness to come to a mid table club but after that?! We could at least try.

    :)

  4. I heard:

Bellamy to sign for Villa tomorrow!

Unlike the other cowards on this site I have identified myself and will reveal my source:

My Uncle's mate has a son who weaves the football nets for LFC and when he had to dropped them off at Melwood training ground he was in the store cupbaord that's next to Rafa's room and he heard Rafa speaking in Spanish (my Uncle's mate son is fluent in spanish - he used to work at La Tasca in Toxteth) saying that he will give them Peter Crouch, £15m from the sale of Bellamy to Aston Villa and his home in Valencia for David Villa.....100% true you wait and see!

    Stroll on!

    Shit on the city!

 These are getting more imaginative. Good work.

  5. Fresh links to Defoe and Bent reported today in the gossip pages.

Aston Villa are set to make a £12m swoop for Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe in January. (The People)

Villa are targeting Charlton striker Darren Bent and West Brom winger Zoltan Gera. (News of the World)

    And also:

Midfielder James Milner is set to give Newcastle a boost by signing a new contract on his 21st birthday on 4 January. (The People)

  6. Reo-Coker was pissed because the fans have slated him due to his crap performances this season.

He will leave sooner or later, but not for Aston Villa. Why would he leave for a club who has

nothing more to offer him that what he has already got?

    1. Owner (Don't think there is much difference, they are maybe more aggressive in handing matters)

    2. Manager (Curbs is on level with MON, perhaps even more liked)

    3. Squad (WH have a better squad than us right now)

    4. Fans?

    5. Europe? Certainly not

    Give me one single argument....

And you're a Villa fan? The deal with Reo Coker is that he and Pardew did not get on at all and he conspired to get him sacked. Pardew leaves and he starts performing.

  7. McShane looked good against the Czechs and as far as I know, he is not on loan at Man Utd and is a WBA player but do we really need another central defender?

Robbie Keane is simply not good enough and I think if Villa were to sign anybody from the Irish squad, I'd go for Doyle (Reading) and Reid (Blackburn) even though the latter is injured. Doyle is doing well so far in the Premiership, is scoring goals and plays as the 'target man' for Ireland. Reid was in great form before the injury and would be excellent cover for McCann. Maybe we could get Duffer is the Barcodes go down!

You are joking! A guy on loan at WBA is great but Ireland's best player for years is not good enough? Please explain as I must be losing it.

Keane's good but he goes through massive form fluctuations.

I think that's the answer and he's not a natural finisher.

I voted for Gianfranco, but after him, Bergie is my favourite player, both these guys are capable of producing moments of absolute brilliance on the pitch, both went well into their thirties, both are consumate pro's, but both showed a genuine love for the shirt they represented. (Yes I know Bergie's still trotting around :P)

Zola is still going strong in Serie A you know! Unless you meant still going in the Prem.

  9. I think Schmeichel is the worst pundit on TV these days.

He constantly forces his opinions on the other pundits and also constantly interrupts whoever's talking.

I never liked him at Villa and I hate him now.
