Are you dissing Luc Nilis?
Sorry dude, the guy was class, but.... well it didn't turn out great as a signing did it?
You realise an injury ended his career after playing 3 times for us don't you?
-
Are you dissing Luc Nilis?

Smith contributes more than just goals but we already have a striker like that and it's Carew.
So we just need goals, plain and simple.
-
Afonso Alves!
34 goals for Heereneveen this season.
Take a look:-
Meant to be going to Barca. And the fact he's 26 and only now becoming known is a bit..... odd.

Hi General,
First time in this thread but I was wondering are there any plans to make the Holte Hotel into an actual proper hotel?
Would be a great place to stay for overseas fans.
-
Paddy Kenny would be a great cover for Sørensen but it would be a travesty if he signed as a first team keeper as he is truly average compared to other keepers
such as Reyna and Cech. Sørensen is better than Kenny.
Darren Bent would never join West Ham, I don't think anyone with an ambition would like to sign for that club right now. They have a weird looking owner I would laugh at if I was going to talk to him, they have a poor team with a crap mentality and a shitty stadium.
If we signed Bobo Balde I would be extremely pissed off, he is not the kind of player we want here at the Villa. He is injury prone and ex-Celtic as well as known for his many acts of "Titus Brambleness"
The affliction known as BrambleTitus. Poor lad.
-
It would be insane for Darren Bent to join West Ham. They're a no hope, yo yo club with delusions of grandeur.
At least with the other clubs he's being linked with there's some chance of success but with West Ham he'll achieve nothing.
-
I thought we were still on about Trabelsi.
-
Trabelsi?
He's being released for a very good reason.
I though Beasley was only on loan at City anyway?
Yeah he is,why? Still a talented lad with a good left foot. May be worth the gamble?
Yeah possibly but I don't think left wing is a priority for us. It is the favoured position of Young, Maloney and Berger not to mention Gareth Barry who has spent most of his time playing there for the last 2 or 3 years, even if it may not be his best position.
I think we will be looking at somebody for the right myself.
Well he is a right back but he's basically the walking wounded. And we don't need anymore of them.
-
trabelsi is a good shout, how old is he though?
About 28 or 29. One of the best RBs in Europe at Ajax but Pearce was playing him at RM due to Richards being there.
Could do a lot worse imo.
He's the Tunisian Delaney though.
-
The more I think of it Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would be a great signing, he is one of the most natural finishers I have seen, a bit in the van Nistelrooy mold if you ask me.
I am not sure one of the top clubs have set their sights on him, if not then it's worth a shot?
Linked to Man Utd apparently.

Birmingham want defenders Liam Ridgewell and JLloyd Samuel from arch rivals Aston Villa. (Mirror)
On the BBC
Surely they wouldn't?
Also
Manchester City defender Sylvain Distin is out of contract this summer and Aston Villa are one of many clubs targeting the Frenchman. (Mirror) -
It just annoys me that West Ham stay up and probably will compete with us in terms of signings....
Well any footballer with a brain would choose us...oh wait!
-
We could do a lot worse.Apparently Big Sam wants to offload Obafemi Martins. I personally subscribe to the view that we are after a player that can deputise for Carew as well as play with him, like Bent (While I think Ashton could deputise for Carew, I doubt they could play together, and for the price Ashton would cost I'd expect him to do both). However for the right price Martins would be a crackin signing. Thoughts? What a load of crap. Why oh why would he sell there best player? He's fat not stupid.
-
Wouldn't McCarthy have been picked up earlier by Mourinho if he thought he was good enough?
Maybe this season will have changed Jose's mind but if he has handed in a transfer request in the hope of being picked up then he's acting the bollox.
-
This might be a bit off topic but here goes.
This Michael Owen thing on the BBC today about him "staying loyal if none of the top 4 want him". Shepherd has said that none of them want him so he should stay at the barcodes. Why say this at all? Why is it news worthy? I just wonder if a lower club than one of the top 4 has made an inquery (Villa) and Owen is considering it. Otherwise why start shouting and spouting about Owen leaving. Something must be happening. Someone explain.
Exactly what I thought and when I look around the league and ask myself about Owen, other than the top four, I think of......
......Villa!
The funny part here is what i just read some Newcastle fans discuss. Apparantly he has a £ 9 Mill release clause in his contract. One of them even implied that that it had been confirmed.
How the hell can you sign a player for £ 17 Mill and give him a £ 9 Mill release clause?
No wonder you aint finding Owen in a hurry to dismiss these reports. And absolutely no wonder Sheppard is so flippin mad about the reports.
I thought the same but then remembered it was Newcastle.

It would be fantastic to sign someone who really captures the imagination. A real bums in seats signing. Ribery, Nasri, Quaresma etc.
Didnt think that was MON's style? Looking back over the players he has signed at previous clubs, with a lot less money at hand ofc, it seems he prefers solid, hard working, team players above those tricky "jesus what was that" signings.
You say that but look at Young and Maloney. They're pretty similar to those mentioned ie tricky, pacey, skilful. But they're British and therefore have the "work ethic" on the field almost built into them, if you know what I mean.
I think I trust MON almost entirely when it comes to signings and it's good to see him taking in games abroad. I imagine his scouts are seeing ten times the games he sees that we don't know about.
-
Well now is the time to put in our bid for Bent, my personal number one choice for striker.
Charlton are relegated.
-
Anyone else watching Madrid v Sevilla?
Yep, lets break the bank for Guti We can dream though can't we
There's a weird obsession with Guti. People think he's some kind of superstar when the fact is he has done very little in his entire career.
-
It's the no's by a nose!
I voted no but I think on the shirt it'll be ok.
-
Its the kind of dreaming I can definitely get excited about. However he'd want to go to a bigger club being only 30. Damn.
But he's been linked with America and Qatar. I dunno. If you're reading Martin.... :winkold:
-
It is 'out there' but it's not that ridiculous, however I'm quite sure if we did show any interest, an Italian team would go for him, and knowing him he'd opt for Italy.
That's what you'd think but he has expressed an interest in playing in English football before. If we were looking for a signing to make the world sit up that would be it.
But it's just dreaming I suppose.
-
This might be pretty out there, and I'm not normally one for suggesting outlandish targets, but the Real Ronaldo is available. He's only 30 and can still match the best when fit.
Capello wants him out just like Beckham.
There is the question of his temperament, his fitness, his wages and his willingness to come to a mid table club but after that?! We could at least try.

I heard:
Bellamy to sign for Villa tomorrow!
Unlike the other cowards on this site I have identified myself and will reveal my source:
My Uncle's mate has a son who weaves the football nets for LFC and when he had to dropped them off at Melwood training ground he was in the store cupbaord that's next to Rafa's room and he heard Rafa speaking in Spanish (my Uncle's mate son is fluent in spanish - he used to work at La Tasca in Toxteth) saying that he will give them Peter Crouch, £15m from the sale of Bellamy to Aston Villa and his home in Valencia for David Villa.....100% true you wait and see!
Stroll on!
Shit on the city!
These are getting more imaginative. Good work.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if we signed him if just for the fact that a Brazilian player is always exciting.
