  1. It is the reported fee.

    Neil Moxley‏@Neil_Moxley_DM

I've just checked in Belgium. The story he can go is right. 100 per cent. Knew there was something fishy about the rest of it.

    Neil Moxley‏@Neil_Moxley_DM

Still not sure about the figure, 4m, then 5.5 all-in, then 5.5 all up front. Now 10.6? Can't be...?!

    Neil Moxley‏@Neil_Moxley_DM

According to Belgian press, it seems there has been a shift at Genk. They decided after last night's game Benteke could go.

  2. I keep telling myself it will work out in the end but I saw both games in league and we were dire so so bad, Adam for 4 mil is a must its in our budgegt and lets get him, if I was lamber Id ask vlaar and KEA who we should get in dutch league

You want Lambert to ask Vlaar & KEA who we should buy? WOW!

The craziest thing I have read on here for a while and there have been some ridiculous posts.

  3. Yes please. A front 3 of Benteke, Bent and Zarate would be a huge improvement on our current options, even with Gabby fit.

Although, could Agbonlahor be off to Sunderland?

I would certainly love that. However, I personally feel it is either/or with Benteke & Zarate, even though they are completely different players.

I think we will bring in Benteke, & Jordan Bowery and that's our lot.

I hope, I really, really hope I am wrong.

  4. Aston Villa are prepared to end their interest in signing the Belgium international Christian Benteke unless Genk reduce their demands.

The Midlands club have submitted a straight €7m (£5.5m) offer for the 21-year-old striker, which is an improvement on their previous bid of €6m up front and a further €1m to follow in add-ons, and have made it clear that they will walk away from the deal if Genk continue to play hard-ball. Genk are asking for double Villa's £5.5m valuation, which has frustrated Benteke, who failed to report for training on Wednesday and seems unlikely to feature in the Europa League game Lucerne on Thursday.

The 22-year-old Middlesbrough left-back Joe Bennett has joined Villa on a four-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £2.75m. "Joe's a really good player, young and hungry to succeed and he's exactly the type of player we want here at the football club," said the Villa manager, Paul Lambert. "There's no doubt in my mind that he will thrive in this environment and he fits in exactly with what we are trying to build here."

In a rather surprising move, Villa are also expected to announce in the next 24 hours that they have signed the 21-year-old Chesterfield forward Jordan Bowery in a £500,000 deal.

  5. I like the way he is going. Young, vibrant players who are hungry to play for our great club. I would like a few experienced faces in though to provide us with a solid base. I can't say I know that much about Dale Stephens, but he again sounds promising. However, I am a little concerned that we will still be bullied on the pitch. I actually wouldn't mind a cheeky bid for Frimpong.

  6. I am intrigued by this signing for the future definitely. But right now, from a Belgian viewpoint, don't expect an immediate impact.

@EddWalsh Tends to drift out of games if it isn't going his way.

    The Belgian Waffle‏@TheBelgianWffle

I just think a Premier League move is too early, and if you saw him this weekend, you'll know that he's inconsistent.

    4mThe Belgian Waffle‏@TheBelgianWffle

I like Benteke, right to start him vs Holland on form. He's incredibly raw and not the player Villa need to drag them out of their mess

    11mThe Belgian Waffle‏@TheBelgianWffle

So Birmingham Mail running with RTBF Benteke Villa rumour from earlier. Still think it would be a mistake. Mostly for Villa.

    The Belgian Waffle‏@TheBelgianWffle

@HFDSP Completely agree on that. I can't say how much I like Benteke, but for that reason and his attitude, I fear Villa is a bad move.

    2mHFDSP‏@HFDSP

@TheBelgianWffle He would get slaughtered by English media for his lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

I would like to point out that I am happy with this signing. Just interesting views for a debate.

  7. Annan. Im the only ITK you should trust.

Interesting omariqy!! we were linked a while back

A good DM option. Still hope we see Olsson to replace Warnock, a winger and ST as well.

That guy on twitter said him 3 days ago.

But he did also said we had tabled a bid for Carroll. Pinch of salt.

Seems to have mentioned a lot about Annan though.

    VILLA _INSIDER‏@VILLA_INSIDER1

The Anthony Annan link seems to have resurfaced. Hearing that Lambert really wants to bring him in for the right price. #AVFC

    VILLA _INSIDER‏@VILLA_INSIDER1

@CustomMade_x We made a bid 4 Cresswell on Thursday. As far as I know, Carroll has only met with Villa reps. Firm interest in Anthony Annan.

    VILLA _INSIDER‏@VILLA_INSIDER1

Two DM's Paul Lambert has enquired about are Étienne Capoue of Toulouse & Anthony Annan. Nothing agreed though. #avfc

  8. from Football-Rumours.com, yes please... hopefully Henke identifying players like this;

    Stefan Kießling...watch this space

    Football rumours got that from

    VILLA _INSIDER‏@VILLA_INSIDER1

AVFC are also keeping strong tabs on Stefan Kießling of Bayer Leverkusen who is interested in a new challenge. Fenerbahce also keen. #AVFC

Yes please, but no doubt it's rubbish.

  9. Ok, assessment of today.

    Start with the positives.

Vlaar looks very composed on the ball, has great positional sense, & looks a decent solid centre half. Him and Clark in time could develop a decent partnership.

El Ahmadi likes to pull the strings and have the ball at every opportunity. He is always looking for the ball which is great to see, & always finds space to distribute quickly and effectively.

Our passing game at times looked promising, but lacked any penetration going forward in the final third. We lacked ideas, creativity, width & it was a very flat insipid performance. We never looked like scoring the whole match. I am pleased with our two new boys from Feyenoord, but the rest were pretty mediocre. Ireland really was poor. Not too sure whether it was the system, but his contribution was very limited.

Bent hardly touched the ball. He was making run after run. His movement is fantastic. The only problem is, the supply line are just short of any ideas once they get into the final third of the pitch. Neat intricate football is what we all want to see, but there has to be an end product, & one or two players who offer that little bit of inventiveness and guile in the middle of the park.

We are short of a lot of players to be honest. Our bench is woeful. Lambert has a lot of work on his hands, and I hope he is backed to bring in at least 4 new players. We need a winger, a creative midfielder, a striker and a left back minimum.
