  1. He's also a big Everton fan and doesn't hide the fact. Not that I'm doubting his tweet.
  2. What makes you think this? Personally I think Rijkaard would do far more with Villa than any of the UK-based names we've been linked with. But Moyes > Hughes
  3. He gets slated for his time at Galatasary but his win ratio was 64%, not too shabby.
  4. Exactly the same image I have. of course we all want to know but we have been told many times the Board will not act through the media. That's no bad thing in my book.
  5. Not that he'd come but hypothetically is there anyone who wouldn't sell Young and Downing if it meant funding the buy out of his release cause and giving him a mega salary? I might if I knew who the hell he was Andre Villas-Boas

  7. Yep, good luck to him. Always came across as a decent bloke and so its proved.
  8. You should work for the FBI or something... Maybe I already do...
  9. On the H mystery.... looking at the top of the page if A = Moyes, B = Benitez then H = Rijkaard?
  10. If he is in Madrid it is entirely feasible that it isn't on Villa business! He might have left instructions with PF and others and decided to visit the Prado to get away from it all.
  11. If Martinez gets the job then I do hope everyone gives him time... although when he first made the move to the Premier League I seem to remember he got off to a good start, winning 2-0 at Villa Park!
  12. Maybe but it would hardly be in the clubs best interests.
  13. Also Sparta Rotterdam relegated Galatasary 8th and sacked Plus he also failed to win anything for two years with the Barcelona team Guardiola now has. Is he that good????? Sparta are a poor team. He picked up over 20 more points in his only full season with Galatasaray than they achieved the past season without him. Barca - yep he has 2 years without a trophy but prior to that he won the league and European Cup. I'd be happy with that!
  14. Rijkaard won the Champions League as manager and was voted UEFA Manager of the Year - not too shabby! To be fair your right.....however my next doors neighbours cat could have managed the best team in the world to the CL... For the record SHA won the Carling Cup this year.... You do realise Barca hadnt won hardly anything in 6-7 years prior to Rijkaard joining? He was the one that started it all off.. They are where they are today because of Rijkaard.. Thanks for backing me up. WHY, your neighbour's cat sounds incredibly gifted, if this cat is as good as Rijkaard then I'd be happy for Villa Park to be fitted with a golden catflap and a bowl of milk in the dugout. Seriously Rijkaard is noted amongst Barca fans for turning them into the club they are now, promoting the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. I accept he's a risk but one I would take (given that I have an emotional and not that significant financial investment in the club). Mate anyone who knows anything about football will know it was Johan Cruyff who took the Ajax system to Barca...Rijkaard reaped all the benefits....WHAT has he done since Barca? joking? when did cruyff leave barca? 1994? 1995? when did rijkaard become manager? 8 ? 9 years later? 6 or 7 managers after he left? your living in a fantasy world if you try and claim cruyff is responsible for other managers work that far down the road, maybe a year after he left, maybe at a very very big stretch 2 years after he left. 2 league titles and the champions league and you make claims he has done nothing as a manager? and since barca? well he improved galatasarys points total by 20 in his first season in turkey and despite not being financially backed still got more points than before he joined in his second season. i still think it could be ancelotti but seeing rubbish like what you put makes me think you want us to get some substandard no mark such as hughes. Cheers for backing me up. If anyone can remember the Champ League final between Arsenal and Barca from 2006 Rijkaard made two key attacking substitutions that changed the game in their favour. If he's seriously interested it would be foolish not to sound him out, He might not be an obvious fit and it might not work out but I'd like to see what he could offer.

  17. I voted Rijkaard. True it could go horribly wrong but I think it might just work beautifully, a risk but one worth taking. Louis van Gaal would be my second choice. Guess I just like the Dutch.
  18. Since over 50% voted for Ancelotti and Jol I'd guess that if a new poll were done Rafa would score higher.
  19. If Carlo has said no and the Board say Premier League experience is a must then for me it has to be Benitez. He is a winner whether people like him or not.
  20. I think Rijkaard would be a gamble worth taking. As steaknchips points out he is widely seen as paving the way for the current Barca team. He's had failures but he might well have learnt from these. I'd like to think he would be given serious consideration and interviewed at least. if its a choice of Rijkaard or Hughes I know which I'd go for. For those who are interested here is his wiki http://bit.ly/iJI5eq
  21. Og come on, like you didnt want Ancelotti? Cut the crap... Redman is a Liverpool fan.
  22. He doesn't get a lot wrong - I'm starting to get optimistic!
