That's all just way too convenient to be remotely true. Levy may be well known for being tight, but he also recognises a good deal when it's on offer, no way he put off signing Grealish to force his fee down by just £1m, only to have his tactic was scuppered by us completing a multi-million club takeover within 11hrs? It just has to be bullshit. God I wish the Sun would just **** off.

Based on what? Until he plays for England in a competitive game he can do what he likes. That’s the FIFA rules.

A player can only request to change which national team once.

Fifa statement from the switch: "The single judge decided to accept the request of the Football Association and the player Jack Grealish based on article eight paragraph one in conjunction with article five paragraph three of the regulations governing the application of the FIFA statutes."

The specific rule: "If a player has more than one nationality, or if a player acquires a new nationality, or if a player is eligible to play for several representative teams due to nationality, he may, only once, request to change the Association for which he is eligible to play international matches to the Association of another country of which he holds nationality."

By commiting to England he used up his one time switch.

We should be doing better with the squad we got.

No team in the bottom half of table got anywhere close to a quality player like Jack. And let's be honest, most of us would probably not take a single Sheff Utd player in our starting XI

Not really. We have the 18th highest wage bill in the league, and in professional sports success is closely correlated with how big our wage bill is, so if anything, we're overachieveing.

Why? Because the squad was announced before he got injured. And when asked why he wasn't called up, Southgate came out with some terrible excuse, mentioning nothing about an injury because he wasn't injured at that time.

No it wasn't. Grealish got injured against City in October and the England team wasn't announced until two weeks later. He missed both the Liverpool and Wolves games which were the two games before the break.

But Wesley at any point in his career has never scored lots of goals.

Benteke has - and never more so than when he played for us.

****Seriously as I type this - the lion sleeps tonight comes on the TV !!!

The biggest fallacy in sports, that past success = future success.

Benteke is 29. He's in his "prime". He has scored 4 goals in 3 seasons. Injuries have ruined him, he's a busted flush.

Considering how Matt Targett is sat next to Steer, I don't think it's from the Brighton game...

Not to mention he is  actuallycelebrating, you can see him punching his fists.

Liverpool up next for them. Could get ugly.

And we're 1 point behind with Brighton at home next, we could be above them in two weeks, when's the last time that happened outside the first 2/3 games of a season?

Bruce hasn't beaten Utd in 22 games, and has only gotten 5 draws, he just rolls over and gets his belly rubbed when playing them. Man Utd are the only team Bruce has faced more than 3 times as a manager and not beaten, no way that changes today with this Newcastle team.

I really shouldn't have underestimated how shit Man Utd are...

I think they will get a win today. Will probably have 25% possession, and 2 shots on target, will win 1-0.

  10. Something else that's bugging me about this "dive", how many players go up to a player they haven't touched and has "dived" against them, and try to calm them down and drag them from the ref like Cahill did? He knew he'd fouled Grealish and was calming him down instead of screaming in his face like most players normally do, that is not the reaction of a player who has been "justified" by the ref.

Which is surely counterproductive? If VAR had overturned that decision we still would have been upset with the original decision but that would have been quickly forgotten because we'd all be buzzing with a point.

Instead this decision will be talked about and replayed all weekend, which puts the ref in a worse position than had his decision been overturned.

I genuinely believe the FA/Premier League are trying to purposefully make VAR shit because they're ideologically opposed to it (It exposes how shit and unaccountable the Refs are). This game just confirms it for me. It's been utilised in so many sports to improve the game, and yet football is somehow too special for it to work despite it being the richest sport in the world...
