No they weren't considered good enough for PL. (Gueye excepted)

When we were relegated most of them wanted out. Veretout has since admitted he his heart was never in it at villa.

I think the notion that these have all gone on to be world beaters is false. Granted some could hold there own in the PL - but there's very few international caps there.

Amavi and Gollini were both regularly called liabilities and not good enough in the Championship. Some even said that Taylor was a much, much better player than Amavi a couple of months after he had signed. I think half of the players mentioned is enough to be considered "some of them".

Also, who said they were world beaters? The post you quoted simply said "good foreign players", regular starters for Champions League and Europa League sides are surely considered good players.

There is absolutely no way Brentford only value him at £20m

To be fair, it only seems to be when we're interested that their demands begin to grow exponentially with every article.

Much happier with getting Wilson if this is true, my biggest concern among other things was that £20m was a lot, but at that fee it's not a bad shout, even if with the add ons it does go up to £20m, because at least that means he's done well and already shut up my doubts. Especially if we get Watkins too, as I'm not sure I'd be happy if this is an alternative to Watkins.

So am I in that case.

Well Hogan right now is out best striker. And I include samagoal in that.

Wilson has loads of years left in him. Good age. Good experience. Good player. Good price.

Modern football - anyone over 27 is a bad  buy.

Leeds signed Rodrigo. An absolute baller - all I hear is 29 - bad buy.

**** me. Imagine if this place was around when we signed Dion and Merse.

He's our 4th choice striker and hasn't played for us in almost 2 years :crylaugh:

Edit - 6th if you consider that both Vassilev and El Ghazi have spent more time playing there than Hogan recently.

    What about competitive matches?

66 minutes, 45 of which were against Switzerland when he was brought on in the 75th minute and then the game went to extra time. His other appearances were 7 minutes at the end of a 5-1 win v Montenegro and 14 minutes at the end of the 6-0 win in Bulgaria.

Do you think in our present state we're capable of getting a 15-20 goal striker from a top euro league? I think Wilson and Watkins is about the best we can do this summer. If we can also add in a decent wide player and obviously keep Grealish that to me is so much better than what we had on 1st September last year.

Wesley had a better goals to minutes ratio than Wilson last season, and is 6 years younger with half as many ACL injuries.

The guy closest to the window looks a bit like Watkins to me too. Difficult to tell though.

Edit: just read the transfer window thread, not Watkins then haha

Do we really want a player who's putting us second? Holding out for a move against a CL team fair enough, but the moment he starts doing well here (if he does) and a better club comes knocking he won't think twice.

I Dunno I Think That's a Bit Dodgy Mate RT 😥 When You See Eric Cantona's Latest Instagram Post httpstcouVW9wponfz | Instagram Meme on ME.ME

I think that would describe every player in our squad, and always has done back to the MON era.

  9. It looks like the natives are getting a bit restless over there, and to be fair I think they could struggle next year if they don't get a move on in this window. They've got a paper thin squad that's just had a massive season, they're about to sell one of their 2 fit FBs, Nuno's contract is up next year without a new one seeming close, Troare and Jimenez linked with moves away and barely any central midfielders. A bad window could really see the wheels fly off imo.

Get him back on the coaching staff. I'm sure he still lives in the area.

For some reason, I always think the slower players make the best coaches/pundits as they had to think more and understood the game better.

    Oh.... Mick Quinn.

Would love to have him back in some capacity, although I'm not sure how many fans have forgiven him.

Saying that, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the reaction on Villa's tweet was quite positive, thought there'd be more grumbling.

For me if we are to play with Grealish as one of the central midfield 3 then sadly McGinn goes to the bench in favor of someone with other attributes.

I suppose it depends how Smith sees it, but for me McGinn is better suited to playing a defensive role in midfield than an attacking one, so would be able to accommodate Grealish fairly well.

Pretty sure if I stayed off VT and newsnow for an entire day we'd sign players right and left.

This is like the times I don't watch us play. We always turn up. ALWAYS. Swear the only reason we stayed up is cause I didn't watch anything post Covid-19 break.

    You ever considered supporting Blues?

Just heard a reporter on the radio saying they had spoken to Southgate about Grealish and the answer is he just doesn't fancy him for his current England philosophy.

They were also suggesting Grealish should look at playing for the Republic again.

Whilst I have my conspiracy theory that Southgate is doing it to spite Villa, the other much more plausible reason is just that Southgate is a shit manager that doesn't know how to use creative players, see: Maddison, Mount (barely any game time) and Alli (been shit for England since he took over).
