Yep. So much for the hyped return of European nights and big matchups. Pathetic effort from inside the ground.

**** hell Duran.

He's got loads of credit in the bank so we can forgive him and it wouldnt have changed the match result. But that was stupid, immature and now he's banned for key games. Very poor lapse in discipline John.

Had a chance to go top with a home game against Sheff United. Bottled it and scraped a draw. Another big game, we could have had a statement win today and bottled it again.
The red card didnt change anything, we had already lost the game. A spinless performance from every single one of them. Absolutely pathetic.

McGinn made zero attempt to play the ball and was very aggressive. If thats not dangerous play then what is?

Red or not, it was a stupid **** tackle.

Ahh yes the annual bending over to Spurs at Villa Park. We took a break from it last year but have lubed up ready to get back on track this season.

I wonder if this thread can go 5 posts without someone alluding to the fact that Bailey was poor in his first season then came good. I bet it cant.

He really is in hideous form. Hard to see how he gets out of it atm.

Abject game really. Not a great performance. We should have nothing to worry about at home but I really fancied us to win tonight.

That was dogshit quite frankly.

Well if you're Man City then yes. We're Aston Villa. For a lot of the last 20 years, we've been a third rate Premier League side and even a third rate Championship side. We havent won anything for 28 years. We've only won two League Cups in the last 42 years.
You're either trolling, incredibly arrogant or are one of those Premier League fans from far away lands who "support" us in name only or when we're doing well.

It does kind of feel like a competition mainly for teams that would never have a chance of making Europe without it or have struggled in recent years. I didn’t think for a second we could get top 4 so was all for winning this. Now it feels like a distraction. Let’s see what team Emery goes with.
Maybe I'm crazy but I'd rather win a trophy than get top 4. Winning the CL is something we will remember forever. We could exit the CL group stage with a whimper like Newcastle did this season and then be stuck down in 8th with no chance of requalifying.

It's a trophy which is 2 tiers below what we have already won
This argument is so ridiculous I cant even believe you said it. We havent won anything for 28 years. A huge percentage of Villa fans have never seen their team win anything. Anyone who remembers the European Cup win will be at least 50 years old now.
We are in no position whatsoever to turn our nose up at ANY cup win. If we win the Conference League I will be jumping for joy. By you logic, we shouldn't have celebrated those two League Cup wins in the 90s because we had won the FA Cup before. Total nonsense.

Need to find a way to play him and Bailey together, it can't be one or the other. We have to get them both firing at some point.
I'm inclined to agree. Because if its one or the other then it's Bailey by some distance obviously. I don't think our record signing should be making 15 minute cameos and I don't think he will accept that long term either.
We need to find a way to play them both or sell Diaby. It goes without saying that this is completely dependent on Diaby getting back to his best form.

Luke Moore vs Boro. Thought the kid had arrived
I remember they chose this match for game of the day on Sky. Back in the days when they would show the full game of choice at about 8pm. I was going to go out that night but stayed in just to watch it

Great cross and good play before it. But when he gave the ball away near the end
Still, have to look at the positive and his assist won us the game.
-
Never in doubt. A shambolic second half but I'm not going to think about that tonight. I'm just delighted we **** won.

We've been under heavy pressure for 25 minutes and we've done nothing to stop it.

One of the best strikers in the world. Make no mistake.

It's just occurred to me that Ollie is having the best season by a Villa striker in the Premier League era.
