  1. As I'd keep him regardless !

likewise, just don't think its worth "starting again" - who we going to get better than Lambert if we drop? No one. Who are we going to get not better than lambert, few options there but not anyone I'd want over PL, also I can't face another season of "a new dawn" or welcoming in a new era of "Di Matteo's Donkeys", "Adkins a holes" or "Curbishly's words removed"

  2. I rsaod to a mate the other week Norwich might start to struggle this half of the season, maybe today might be their 'chelsea' result looking at the way its going at anfield, a few losses and they could soon be in the mix for the drop.

  3. If Lambert were to go we are **** - RDM? don't make me laugh

This. There is no other manager out there and available that would come to villa better than lambert. Alternatively if we poached someone from another club thst just smacks of stupidity and hipocrisy, that money could have been spent strengthening the squad!

  4. Still think if PL is sacked then we are just gong round in circles again. By the sounds of it PL has been working with the "goal posts" being constantly moved as hairy hands says.. Randy Learner and Paul Faulkner are the real issue here, got the fans onboard by getting Lambert in then pretty much fooked off and have hung him out to dry. Thats how I see it and until RL an PF are gone we shall forever be less and less the great club of our past and sliding ever closer to lower league obscurity.

  5. Everytime I see some bullshit link on Twitter I think about posting it here, but then not sure if others find it annoying?

Personally i say go for it, dont do Twitter myself but right now any link (however questionable or unreal) I reckon is more interesting than the current sum total of nothing,

  6. I hope the people that want Lambert out also want Lerner out because that's the guy responsible for this mess not Lambert, open your bloody eyes and realise he is working with a championship squad because our glorified owner sanctioned the sale of a whole England midfield then kept the majority of the money resulting in them being replaced by youth and lesser talented players, Lambert in LERNER OUT.

Bang on, Lamberts made mistakes but his hands have been tied.

  7. if we are relegated I just hope Lambert stays and we can keep Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Westwood, Weiman and Bentekkers, as I see it they are the players to build this squd around. Doubt Ron and Benteke would hang around but I hold out hope.

  8. Not saying he has been lied to - just saying the situation right now is he can't sign the players he wanted. That is partly down to no-one wanting the big-earners. But he woukld have expected to get good players this month and it doesn' seem like that will happen as things stand. Two players - defender and physcial midfielder - won't be arriving. Too expensive for the owner to sanction. And believe me they would have made a huge difference.

Will they happen now? Doubt it....not unless the board have a serious change of heart or someone comes in for one of the big-earners. Lambert won't walk. He will try to keep the club up with what he's got or even take a chance on one or two cheaper options much further down his wanted list - no other option!

Well if thats the case then good luck to him, because if Vlaar and Westwood aren't back soon and we have to play the same team that played Bradford we are going nowhere but down. Out of interest would Lambert walk if we were relegated, would he be sacked or would he stay? Just interested as if the last few or your posts are true I now think we will be playing in the championship next year, but I hope with Lambert still as our manager.

  9. so Hairyhands are you saying PL has been lied to? Told there was certain amount of funds available and now those funds have been reduced/taken away from him? You previously said in total he would be sending up to 10 mil on foreign payers, are you now saying that these signings will not happen? In that scenario I wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't blame PL if he walked anytime soon.

  10. Moving to Villa from Norwich is hardly making the next step.

good point, in terms of where both clubs finished last season and the state of the two squads at the time he came to Villa, coming to Villa was really a step across or even down you could argue (plenty of Norwich fans thought that). I know we are a bigger club than Norwich in history, fan base etc but the state of things as they stood when PL switched Norwich really were the club in a stronger position. I think Lambert saw/sees Villa as a step across/down but with the potential to rise where as Norwich had hit their ceiling.

  11. I wanted PL as Villa boss last year, have believed in a "project" and still hold hope that he can build something here, however recently he has made some wrong calls line up wise and substitutions wise. Have I lost complete hope, no, there is no point in calling for his head, who else is available and how much is it going tho cost, I'd rather spend that on reinforcing the squad with new signings. Also if we do not make some reinforcements and soon we are very much a favorite to go down, again in that senario would I want PL sacked, not sure, would be very disappointed in him but then again he would probably be one of the best candidates to get us back up. Very hard times to be a Villa fan right now and although PL is rightly being questioned we should stick with him, Randy look at this mess YOU have created and give you manager some real support.

  12. French radio station RMC reporting were interested in Moussa Sissoko

    As if.

Thought Spurs were supposed to be in for him, but they have just signed Lewis Holtby so you never know maybe they are no longer interested and we might be back in with a chance, heres hoping.

  13. For that past 3 weeks I have worn a Villa item each day, whether it is a scarf, a band on my wrist, a shirt over my uniform on the way to work or a jacket, I have worn something. I am keeping the faith and not hiding away. We will succeed. VTID.

    full respect

  14. Thought it deserved its own topic seeing as there have been numerous links now.

Your club needs you! City's Lescott could be on his way to boyhood club Villa

Aston Villa are weighing up a move for Manchester City's out-of-favour defender Joleon Lescott to shore up their leaky defence.

Owner Randy Lerner is set to back manager Paul Lambert this month in a bid to turn around the club's shaky form.

Lerner remains committed to first-year boss Lambert, despite their troubles in the Premier League as a young side battles to find its feet.

Villa are a point off the drop zone after conceding 15 goals without reply in three heavy losses over Christmas.

A point at Swansea on New Year's Day stopped the rot, but Villa realise an experienced central defender is essential this month.

Lescott, a local lad who grew up supporting Villa before playing for Wolves, Everton and now City, is available.

But his large wages are an issue, as Lerner is still seeking to reduce player salaries, and both Everton and Sunderland are also interested in taking the 30-year-old.

The £10million-rated ace will have to take a significant drop and negotiate with the champions for a pay-off to join Villa.

In recent years, both Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland left City with golden goodbyes to compensate them when they joined Villa.

Despite struggling in the top-flight, Villa have a League Cup semi-final first leg at Bradford next Tuesday.

Overall, Lerner is pleased with Lambert's work reducing the wage bill and nurturing their young academy graduates - he is delighted with the Scot's main summer signing, £7.5m Christian Benteke.

The American is now willing to back Lambert again in this month's window.

An experienced centre-back and a ball-winning midfielder are priorities, while the club are considering a new left-back too, amid concerns over the abilities of Joe Bennett and Eric Lichaj.

Big-earning duo Shay Given and Darren Bent are both available if Villa get good offers, while Nottingham Forest's ex-Villa manager Alex McLeish fancies midfielder Barry Bannan.

But outcast Alan Hutton has now returned to the club following his loan spell at Forest as the clubs negotiate over the percentage of his salary to pay if the Championship club keep him.
