  1. I know this is off-topic but I think Dunne is massively overrated on here. He's not been good for quite some time and is clearly way past it. He may have lots of that fabled "experience" but he hasn't got much else. Would rather have Clark, Baker or even Herd next to Vlaar than Dunne.

    agreed

  2. look at him objectively, as a human being rather than a character in a computer game

think thats a great point and can relate to pretty much all our young players that have come in this year and could be applied to our young manager as well maybe. To many fans think running, managing and playing for Villa is like a game of Fifa these days.

  3. I don't think prem experience is what we need. We need good players, wether they've played in the prem or not.

We're not shit because of a lack of premiership experience we're shit because we have shit players. Average wank players like Holman, albrighton, Delph, Nzogbia and more who just are plain shit average footballers who aren't good enough for this level.

The problem is at this moment what decent player wants to come and join a club like ours? The only thing that's going to get them here is money and it needs to be provided this January.

first of your posts I agree with, you're right we don't need experience, we need good players. Don't think Holman, albrighton, Delph, Nzogbia are up to it, all average to poor at the moment and interestingly not Lambert signings. Randy must invest in Jan and I hold faith in Lambert, all managers make a few dodgy signings but to his credit so far the majority of his have been ok, I think Vlaar and Benteke in particular are good signings, think with better players around him KEA's quality will show more than it is at the moment and I think Lowton has been excellent considering where he has come from, same way a bit more quality throughout the team and infornt of him and I think he too will shine, Albrighton and Holman I see alot of people saying they work really hard for the team but sorry not enough quality in either of them as I can see, fairs dues to Holman he's been involved in a few things like the build up to the goal on sat but for me not a great player, not enough end product.

  4. id rather Bannan play ahead of Delph not only is he more attacking with the ball he is less likely to pick up a yellow card

agree with that, would rather see Bannan in there at the moment, thought we played better when he was in where Delph has been playing.

I have wanted Delph to become the player we originally thought he could be but I think the injuries have taken their toll and it also seems like no-one, including Lambert and Delph himself, quite knows what his position is and what type of player he is, attacking mid, defensive mid? How long has he had out of the game in total over the last few years, 2? Thats a long time, especially at his age, those years could have been the most important in terms of his learning and development, afraid I don't see him being able to make the grade in the prem, good championship player but at the moment thats about it. Shame.

  5. Saw this on the UpTheVilla blog, Talksport have linked on to the original German rumour, don't know much about him but sounds like the sort of player we need... Who knows, maybe some legs in this what with our new head scout being German? http://www.upthevill...lder-with-video

‘The Denmark international has played eight Bundesliga matches for Stuttgart this season, after making 33 league appearances last term.

Villa have targeted the 27-year-old having suffered a slow start to the campaign, with Lambert’s side currently sitting just one point outside the Premier League relegation zone.

Kvist, who is under contract until June 2016, is valued at around £6million and Italian club Chievo are also eyeing a move, according to German paper Kicker.’

  6. I m terrified of where we are and yet I remain very pleased with Lambert. Illogical I know but there you are. The truth is I like the way he wants us to play and I like his signing philosophy.

i'd say thats about where I am.

  7. people going on about how Benteke not finishing chances, fair dues he should have put a few more than his single goal so far in his Villa career but I am prepared to give him time. Look at Torres, went to Chelsea and was shocking all last season, this season he's back up there scoring and looking dangerous again. Benteke is in a very good Belgium team and scoring there so he must be pretty decent, why people seem to think he'll never be good enough for Villa is beyond me. I think we forget when players move club it can be difficult, new team, area, culture and people often expect to much, especially from younger and foreign players. I'll give him time, think he could become a big player for us.

  8. Thanks for the question mate and I'd be very happy to answer it.

No personal dislike of the man at all. I was however very much on the fence when he got the job due to worrying that he might turn us into another Norwich. A team full of energy and spirit but lacking in quality. Yes he had budget constraints at Norwich and again at our club but the expectation levels are and should be higher at our club and consequently we should be looking to buy better quality players than he would at Norwich, which leads me to my main point against him at the moment.

After two seasons fighting the threat of relegation we needed this season to buy the type of quality player who would have given us a better chance of stability within the Premiership this season due to the aforementioned point and also due to the increase in revenue from TV at the end of this season. Instead Lambert has purchased lower league players and other players not up to speed with the Premiership. It's taking an awful risk with our Premiership status to ask all those players to hit the ground running in the Premiership. I believe our results to date are a direct consequence of that needless gamble and it very well may get worse.

nice one, a number of fair points there and I can understand where you are coming from. The past couple of years really has hit us Villa fans hard and I can understand fans wanting more of an immediate fixer but I still think for the long term Lambert is the man for us, over the next few months I hope he can dispel your fears, one thing I do think you are right about is that he should have signed at least 1 quality player that has had a bit of experience in the top flight of English footy but then we don't know he didn't try, maybe Dempsy was that player.

  9. Would this be due to a personal dislike of the man or footballing reasons. I'm not trying to be sarcastic just genuinely interested?

Appreciate the questions not directed at me but I'd say a bit of both, can't stand Rednapp so do have a dislike but also don't think he's the right man for the long term future of this club, Paul Lambert could be.

Simular question to you Morpheus, same way not trying to be sarcastic just interested, do you have a personal dislike of Lambert or is it for footballing reasons you seem to dislike him so much?

  10. sorry Troglodyte all I was trying to point out was that if those three were not at Villa the respective wages that would be freed up would a lot of money and could potentially be used to pay other, more effective players. Perhaps I am being to simplistic in my thoughts?

  11. He wouldn't be allowed to bankrupt the club and I feel he would have already done much better transfer wise with the financial constraints within the club. I also don't agree that he wouldn't come to our club for the reasons I have already pointed out in a previous post.

fair dues mate, but I'm sorry I think you are wasting your time hoping he is the answer, each to their own I guess. Judging from this article in the Mirror a few days ago http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/harry-redknapp-waiting-for-a-top-job-1385669 it sounds like he's happy to wait for a "top" job, which lets face it the Villa job has not been for a number of years now whether we like it or not.

  12. Read up on how football transfers work. You can't just "give" players away.

sorry, figure of speech not allowed on here? :bang: I do appreciate there is more to moving on a player than just "giving" them away.

  13. Would rather Sell CNZ, Given and Ireland. Then use the money to bring in some creative players to supply bent.

You will struggle to give those 3 players away

then give them away and use the wages to pay some better players, must be at least £125,000 a week in wages there in total.

  14. sorry but anyone wanting Rednapp I cannot take seriously. He'd want way to much money, he'd probably bankrupt the club and he'd never come here anyway. I wanted him for the England job but would not want him anywhere near Villa. Lambert.

  15. Gabby is another who I think i probably wouldn't mind if he left to be honest, Villa through and through etc yes that's all fine but he has done NOTHING consistently for almost 2 years.

Blame the manager blame whoever you want but we could sure use his wages (no doubt one of the higher earners) to someone who actually has the quality to do things consistently.

One of the senior members of the squad he should be doing ALOT more than he is currently doing.. but hey let's blame Lambert for that aswell - it's never Gabby's fault.

Got to agree with that, have always liked Gabby and fully respect his love for the club but in the cold light of day he's not been consistently good enough for a number of seasons now. Had a great game against Man C in the league cup but it seems to be a bit of a reoccurring theme, has a great game, goes missing for the next however many. We may well be flirting with relegation this season but I will hold faith in Lambert, he was one of the two managers I wanted and I am happy he is here. He's making a few decisions which I find myself questioning, e.g how come Weiman not getting a look in and Gabby is, the refusal to try a bit more width but I think he is the best man for the job, we can't keep changing managers and out of the last three I do believe he is the best long term prospect, its going to be a hard next few months but I believe we'll get through it and come out better the other side.

great result last night and luving this pic. Everything about PL's body language is telling Mancini to where to go, shows how he sticks up for his team, isn't scared of "bigger" teams and their gobby managers. Its a rocky ride so far this season but I'm loving it. All about squad now, we win and lose as a squad, not just the 1st 11, no one player is guaranteed a start and everyone knows if they perform they are in with a shout of playing and equally if they don't they wont be playing. Really nice to see Gabby and Nzog score, don't think it means Bent, Weiman etc should immediately be written off, they can all have a part to play. UTV

  17. have been very impressed by what I've seen of Lambert's three signings so far and have full trust in him to sign the right sort of players to play in his system/s. I just hope he can get the 2/3 more in we need to solidify the starting 11. At the moment I think we have 3 players in CNZ, Ireland and Holman who all have potential to do ok (in their own different ways) but playing all 3 together is not necessarily going to work, all far to inconsistent for my liking. I think Ireland could have the most to offer if we can get him firing, with the other 2 I hope PL can get them playing but I really don't think we'd have CNZ and Holman here if Lambert had have taken over when McLeish did.
