Rob appreciates Grand Tetons!

The origin of the current name is controversial. The most common explanation is that "Grand Teton" means "large teat" in French, named by either French-Canadian or Iroquois members of an expedition led by Donald McKenzie of the North West Company.

Thank you for the suggestion and the map sir! Will it be accessable in May i wonder? Much of the higher ground seems covered in snow from what i've read.

Because of heavy snowfall at the top, the pass is usually open each year only from mid May through mid October, weather conditions permitting.

Montana and Wyoming highway department sites with info on road closures.

Beartooth was still closed but otherwise Yellowstone was stunning. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in wildlife and untamed beauty. We saw 8 different bears that weren't Yogi!
