  1.                              ???

    Elmo    Tuanzebe     Chester    Hutton

                          Bjarnason

    Bolasie   McGinn   Grealish   El Ghazi

                           Abraham

  2. Also, I didn't quite understand the changes.

When Abraham got injured, I just presumed that we'd put Kodjia on. I'm up for giving Hogan a clean slate but Kodjia is so much better than him as a striker.

And then we took Hourihane off. Why not replace Elmohamady or Hutton? We needed Kodjia on the pitch but we shouldn't have taken off Hourihane - one of the few match-winners in our side. That last free-kick, or indeed the corner, would've been perfect for him.

  3. I'm not really that concerned about the performance. We had a plan and some of our passing was very good.

It's just the handful of players that aren't very good are really costing us. Nyland started the collapse by coming for that corner. Abraham, our focal point, came off and we replaced him with Hogan, a player that would be pushed off the ball by a shadow.

El Ghazi was good in the little glimpses we saw of him, he needs to start over Adomah going forward. Tuanzebe was brilliant, both defensively and with the ball at his feet.

  4. Today just underlined the mess that Bruce has left us in. The style of football, the players' desire, and a truly horrific defence.

I think we're deluded to think that a new manager is going to come in and have us playing good football in the space of a couple of weeks.

This season is already looking like a write-off.

  5. I really shouldn't, but I find it absolutely hilarious that Bruce signed two goalkeepers - admitting that one of them he had tracked for several years - only to revert back to the 33-year-old reserve who can't jump up to touch the crossbar.

Steve Bruce facing two games to save Aston Villa job

Steve Bruce is facing two crucial games as he fights for his future, as Aston Villa prepare to appoint a new technical director.

Bruce has been coming under increasing pressure after a dismal start to the season and needs to win at least one of the games against Preston and Millwall to improve his hopes of staying in charge.
