  1. N'Zogbia nearly done. Hes on par if not better than those two. IMO of course. He's not though is he - if he was better than Young, MU would have signed him for half the cost. I didn't think that Downing was all that but just 'cos he's left us doesn't suddenly make him crap We have'nt signed Zog yet but if we do he will be a level below Young and we will have gone backwards If you read my post properly i didnt say he was better, i said on par if not better. Id say in terms of ability they are on a par, its just that N'Zogbia's application of that ability isnt always as regular as Downing or Young. But who knows, in a better team with better players around him he may be able to apply it more regularly. But... Over the last couple of years id say N'Zogbia has been the better player. He is the heartbeat of that Wigan side and without him they would have been relegated a long time ago. Hes shown that hes got it all tbh...good dribbler, good passer, pace to burn, versatile, scores some cracking goals and has a good work rate. So i stand by what i said. Hes on par if not better than those two. Brilliant - we'll sell Young for £17m and buy Zog whose a better player for half the money. Any more world class players in the Premiership who can be bought for less half their real value that you know of ? Let's shut this one down and agree to disagree - You think Zog is better I think that Young is
  2. But they still signed these players over Nzobia ergo they are better than Nzogbia because otherwise Fergie would of signed Nzobia. That was basically your argument as to why Young is a better player than Nzogbia. Er, no it wasn't Deciding which player is better is subjective. My argument is that the only objective comparison is how much someone is prepared to pay. Young went for £17m. Zog (with the same amount of contract left) will probably go for about half that. Fergie could have spent £9m on Zog or £17m on Young - if he thought Zog was a better player he would have bought him and trousered £8m. But he didn't I hope we sign Zog as I think he's decent but you need your head examined if you think he's better than Young

I wouldn't have thought so? MU wasted about £6m on Bebe and £3m on Obertan. My "thought process" was that if Zog was a better player than Young, MU would have bought him for £8m or £9m rather than spend £17m on Young. I'll take Fergie's view on whose the better player between N'Zogbia and Young over yours I think
  5. Given what we know at the moment where do you see us finishing then? Top 8 is my prediction I hope so but I think about 12th-14th will be more our mark. Fed up!!! I thought you were predicting relegation?

  8. Spot on - we are a bottom half team from now on. Goodbye Five Year Plan, Hello Championship Bookmarked for future gloating Given what we know at the moment where do you see us finishing then?
  9. I think this is a certainty. Alot of the moaners wont stop moaning until it actually happens though. I love your optimism but we now need to sign five just to stand still (Freidel, Walker, Young, NRC and Downing) - If we sign anything of the quality of Young and Downing I'll be staggered. Bottom half team from now on!!! If we're lucky

  11. Nothing, I imagine!! We need 5 in just to stand still (Freidel, Walker, NRC, Young, Downing) and 2 or 3 more class acts if we are to improve We are dreadfully weak and lacking creativity in midfield and upfront. Signing a few makeweights from relegated and bottom six sides isnt going to change that. Next on the agenda will be the regular "shame xxx hasn't had a full pre-season with us - it will take until 2012 until they are up to speed" Shameful whats gone on - I bet all the MON critics would love to go back to those bad old days now PROUD HISTORY, BLEAK FUTURE
  12. AM is looking like more and more like Randy's lapdog. The next four weeks are make or break for him. He needs to make some impressive signings and fast. Names talked about like Given, Hutton, N'Zogbia, Parker and Rodellaga(?) would replace Friedel, Young, Downing, NRC and Walker but would leave us weaker than last season, not stronger. Beye, Warnock and Heskey are not good enough and need to be sold and replaced. That's EIGHT signings just to stand still from last season. Dunne, Collins and Ireland all have a lot to prove and I doubt all of them will succeed. The only bright spots are the some of the youngsters, but even there only a couple look real first team material - Clark's emergence means we didnt need to replace Davies and Albrighton should improve again this season (but I don't want to load too much expectation on him) All in all we're going backwards very quickly - Good luck with the season ticket sales Randy PROUD HISTORY, BLEAK FUTURE
  13. From Mail Online We are a laughing stock - Thanks Faulkner, Thanks Randy McLeish has previously defended his negative slow tactics at Birmingham as 'personnel dictating a particular brand'. But he has proven that given money to spend and talent to play with, he can struggle to let old habits die hard. The £6million arrival of Nikola Zigic, the tallest man in the Premier League, brought mixed success but the disappointment of loan signings Alexander Hleb and David Bentley suggested he could not fit them in to a system. Both are talented midfielders but were shackled under the style employed by McLeish and the Scot wasn't about to let their skill and flair take a key-role in a how the team played. So where do Villa really expect McLeish to take them? His managerial CV alone would point to a steady and safe if not wise appointment. But there is just too much baggage to come with it. Instant results will become more important than ever in an attempt to win over fans that will be instantly on his back over his Birmingham connections and his negative style of football. You only have to look at Roy Hodgson's tenure at Liverpool to see how even a lukewarm reception from supporters can see a bad start snowball. But if he does get those wins, how far can he take them? You need to get the best out of top quality players to reach Villa's target of Europe and beyond, and as seen with the loan signings at Birmingham that isn't his strength if he continues to stick with passive tactics. If Alex McLeish is to be a success at Villa he will need to up his managerial game, this isn't impossible but few would think he is worth the risky pursuit Villa have made to try find out.
  14. That's simply rubbish You're only intention is to wind people up on this site Really, you think that statement is not true? I am not winding people up. This messageboard is for discussion. People have different opinions and if reasoned (which they have been) can debate them. Just because they are not the same as yours it does not mean they are wrong. You need to learn this. lalalalalalalalala not listening
  15. Are there any managers you would draw the line at and say they are not good enough to take us forward? I think the answer to that one is no - according to reverend ted it's not our job as supporters to have an opinion only to tug our forelock and hand over our cash He would accept any old rubbish served up to him and say thank you

  17. Apologies for the sarcasm (genuinely) - for some reason I'm not myself today!!! He is not in my top 20 of possible managers let alone top 5. I wanted Poyet personally - he might have been a gamble but one I would have backed!! I hope McL is succesful I really do - 7th place and looking up is the bare minimum for me otherwise the last five years have been in vain
  18. Good for you! If only we could live in your world To be fair I think RL was looking through your rose-tinted specs when he surveyed AM's appalling CV. Back here on planet earth I would like nothing better than see Villa doing well under McLeish but I don't think that will happen. Very happy if he proves me wrong - I'll be the first on here to apologise. But don't hold your breath Look forward to next season - "The Battle for 10th"
  19. Maybe so but don't forget he has managed a club that is 'larger' than us. If you mean Rangers he was hounded out of there. The first man to finish third in a two-horse race I never said he was not. But head to head against O'Neill was he not 7-4 up on trophys even thogh MON spent loads?. And Paul Le Guen did brilliantly after him didn't he? So you think he is a good appointment???
  20. That doesn't make sense, under your criteria he will be a SHA hero??? I've already had the Agent McLeish texts. God help us once the season begins Gone by Christmas!!!

  22. So you think he is a positive, progressive appointment do you???
