I think there's some truth in the "4 games to save his job" rumours, because if you're putting a manager in a position where the viability of their job depends on them getting a result against two of the best and most in-form teams in the country, what's the **** point?
If they had pulled the trigger after West Ham like they should have done then they wouldn't be in this predicament. Incompetence at the very highest level at AVFC!

If we lose tonight (and I say 'If' very tongue in cheek) surely he should be sacked tomorrow because if not the atmosphere in VP on Saturday will be very toxic and why would the owners want that?

Who would you realistically replace him with? It’s like you all want the comfort of a dinosaur but then moan when we win dull games. Gerrard will get us organised, playing well and push on from there. We got rid of smith early in my opinion would have loved dean to still be there now but I don’t see anyone available right now that would be better than what we’ve got. We will most likely get beat in the next two games but we aren’t competing with arsenal and Man City. But this is the time the whole team and management need us. It’s not hard.
Seriously!!!

Our dumbass owners are likely to sack Gerrard and appoint Scott Parker or the guy that got sacked at Dundee Utd.

Some of the critism is justified, some isn't.
We have spent nothing this summer in relative terms.....when we all know we need about 3/4 quality players......and after the initial signings, we have sat on our hands.
I was led to believe, it was going to be a bullish transfer window, and it has turned out false.
Either NSWE are losing interest just like Lerner did after spending loads of money on shit managers that they appointed or they are planning to sack him so don't want him to spunk any more money up the wall.

Because it takes time to find the optimum replacement - can’t afford any more mistakes. Does anyone really believe we can sack Gerrard now and have his replacement in in short order? Certainly we should start looking now but the premature sacking of Gerrard could leave a management void for a substantial time and while Gerrard is poor a void is worse.
Critchley could do a caretaker role. He couldn't do any worse!

Nobody ever needs to apologise for their views and miracles could happen that he could turn it around seeing as it seems he’s getting some more games. I think the only thing I hated was some fans thought the likes of me and others had an agenda against Gerrard. The only agenda I had was that I didn’t think he deserves the job and wasn’t good enough but I was told I had another agenda and a couple of times told that if I’m not happy to go and support another team. That peeved me off a lot.
The same fans that stuck with McLeish, Lambert, Bruce etc. until it was as a plain as the noses on their faces that they were shit despite wiser people repeatedly telling them for months that they were shit.

The lack of late activity in the transfer market is hopefully a sign that NSWE are not going to allow Gerrard to spunk any more of their money up the wall before they sack him!

I just knew that we would be the team to give West Ham their first win of the season.

Right now is not a great time to bring a new manager in.
Arsenal and City is pretty much 2 straight defeats whoever is in charge.
So why not get a new manager in asap so that he can witness the Arsenal and City games to see what needs to be done? Delaying reaps no rewards!

With Maguire now bench material at manure I reckon Mings may be recalled

Why truth hurts, go back in this chat and you'd think the world was ending, to many bedwetters just waiting for a player to make a mistake or manager.
I'd rather stick to supporting the team regardless
Grow up. Beating Bolton means nothing.

A defeat here would have sealed his fate but a win just delays it.

What does McGinn contrubute?

Whatever we think - never should we hope the other team win .
If it gets Gerrard the sack I'll take it. I'm looking at the bigger picture. We aren't good enough to win the League Cup and the Premier League has to be our priority.

Let's hope Bolton can put the final nail in his coffin on Tuesday!
