  1. Here is my suggestion for a fair way to resolve the league, it'll never fly but just for fun...

Split the league in two as it stands, top half and bottom half (kind of like in Scotland) to effectively produce 2 mini leagues. Results from games you've played against teams in the other half of the table are voided. Results from opponents in your own half stand, then you complete unplayed fixtures against those in your half. This should reduce everyone to only needing to play 3 or 4 games each which could be done over a 2 week period. So in Villa's case, they would only play their games against Newcastle, Palace, Everton  and West Ham.

Liverpool should still romp the top half and others would still have a crack at gaining the European spots, the relegation scrap would also be interesting.

Feel free to pitch the idea to the FA 😜

Oh, I've got no idea how Villa would be standing in such an eventuality, I'm too lazy to do the math! But if we are bottom 3 in a league of the bottom half of the PL we deserve to go down!

One from work. This represents the pickups our company did in one week in a small part of the territory we cover.

Green - Paid fare, left tip, gave driver blowjob.

Amber - Paid fare, complained that Uber was cheaper, no tip

Red - Spewed on the seat, did a runner

  3. None of us know the full details of his conviction but people seem to be very quick to downplay it. Let’s remember that he wasn’t convicted of theft or burglary, but robbery. By legal definition that involves the use of (or threat of) force or violence against another person and carries a maximum of a life sentence. It is not back pocketing a pack of Love Hearts from the corner shop!

The problem with this sort of situation is the home office are never going to come out and start responding with details of the case, but the fact his only conviction resulted in just a 2 month sentence, and wasn't even lawful, suggests the priority of the home office is to just kick out as many as they can, whilst putting a very different spin on them all being rapists and murderers.

The article says he served 2 months, that isn’t the same as being sentenced to 2 months. He also doesn’t mention if he served any time on remand before his conviction. You are right that the home office are not going to respond with details of his case...but there is nothing stopping Mr Davis being more forthcoming with the details of his conviction.

Any word on British industry suffering as a whole and any potential flip side?

The latest forecasts from, proffers of doom, the IMF, have UK economic growth outperforming Japan, Germany, France and the Eurozone as whole, over the next two years. The only major developed nations we are lagging behind are Canada and the US.  I guess we can all use that in the overriding narrative of this thread as we see fit.

I must be the reaching "old man shouts at clouds" stage of life, because the wealth in football genuinely turns me off the game these days. It was bad enough in the 90s.

People used to talk about how unreasonable it was for footballers to be paid the average British salary in a week.

Here's a piece of trivia I'd love to know...who was the last player to play top flight football (or for the Villa) whilst being on YTS? Pretty sure half the kids today couldn't even imagine playing for 20 odd quid a week and then having to clean the rest of the teams boots afterwards!

    Any suggestions?

(Somewhere in the back of my head I want to say that I remember Steve Froggatt being on YTS when he made his debut, but I couldn't really be sure of that!)

absolutely pathetic that approval ratings could go up, what an absolute garbage electorate, the thickest, standard-free, bigotry endorsing, racist, sexist, mysogynist endorsing, anti-fact, pro corruption set of bellends. Screw those millions of americans who support him. Reprehensible human detritus.

Watched a TV mini series about Carlos Tevez's young life. Wasn't amazing, but I rather enjoyed it for some reason. Was called Apache something.

    Me reading this post:

"Why the hell would they make a show about Carlos Tevez's wife? I wonder how young she actually is? I bet she must be hot. Let me google. Oh. It says life. Carlos Tevez's young LIFE!"

Both he and Jeremy Corbyn will be incredibly important to keeping seats in 2025 in seats where their sort of Labour is really popular.

They're still constituency MPs, and they'll continue to be important voices (but probably not on a national or leadership level).

If Labour is relying on Corbyn and McDonnell in 2025 to 'keep seats'...then the party may as well just pack it in now!

That doesn't help the SNP. The SNP run against the Tories in Westminster; that's how they persuade people to vote for them. They don't want a viable left-wing UK government, that Scottish voters might prefer to independence. That would be incredibly counter-productive.

Well we have probably gone further down this flippant avenue than I was originally intending but I'll run with it!

What seems to be one of the biggest hurdles to Scottish independence at the moment? Westminster/English reluctance to grant a second referendum? If the SNP were to set out an attractive vision for a post independence England, maybe they could secure a enough seats in England to force through their independent Scotland agenda...alternatively the fact that they seized control of control of the rest of the country might make independence irrelevant!

Meanwhile, how close do you think Labour are to providing a viable left wing government that Scottish voters might prefer to independence?
