  1. Did you actually watch the game? I assume you did, given your in-depth reaction but, seriously, Given put every single goal kick on Heskey's head and he either won them all or won a throw. That might not please you in terms of tactics but I guarantee you it was entirely to plan. You can slate any player for not doing his job but Heskey more than did his today.
  2. If fit (think he'll be on the bench), Dembele will tear us apart. Otherwise, I think we should be good for a draw. Makoun pulling the strings in midfield. Do we expect Sidwell to play?
  3. Drat! I guess you are right. Will have to find some other explanation for some of our more woeful performances this season in that case... Very funny. But just in case it gets let go, are you now suggesting that Houllier is instructing his teams to lose? Luckily, and it's worth pointing out, this poll and discussion can only have a tiny bearing on AVFC, at the most. You guys may pay your ST fees but you must surely see that whinging on here can have no real effect. The decision, as you would expect, is one for the board and it has been made. It should be clear at this point that this thread has become nothing more than a battle of semantics and I expect it to be closed soon. I am not a season ticket holder but I love Villa. When they lose, I am pissed off. But, seriously, how much can someone dwell on such a dead debate?
  4. Without advocating anything I think you missed the essential point that is driving fans against him. Houllier has been in charge for the majority of our season and performances have been at an all time low. Whether that is all/part or majority his fault is open to debate of course, though most fans who want him out will be attributing most of the problems to Houllier I would guess. Don't think anyone is debating whether we are playing well or not. The debate is how it has come about. John's list is the argument against the motion that Houlllier is mostly to blame.
  5. I agree with this. I think there has been some bad luck with injuries although I also think there has been a little complacency (similar to your feeling of "arrogance", I don't think anyone at the club truly believed we were heading for a relegation battle) but I think we will turn it round and Houllier could be a success in the long term. Much of the motivation on here to sack him is emotional - notably the Anfield debacle and the 8th-12th place club comment - and that really isn't the criteria that will clinch the decision. That is why I think it is a moot point at this stage. I am a Villa fan who has voted to back him.
  6. Metropolitan is only closed between Moorgate and Aldgate on Sunday according to that! Had been looking at the weekend as a whole. Drilling into Sunday shows that you are right. Back on track!
  7. Not sure if it's been posted but... A heads up on travel from London; planned closures on Jubilee and Metropolitan mean no Tubes running to Wembley Park on the weekend (as far as I can tell). Best bet looks like Bakerloo to Wembley Central. TFL Service Report Wembley Directions
  8. Got my tickets for Silverspoons! Thanks to those who helped/offered.
  9. Anyone willing and able to pick up tickets for Silverspoons for two Irish Villa fans in London? Really want to go to but just called and was told today was last day for pick up. No way I can get to Erdington tonight!!
  10. Is it too late to get Silverspoons tix now? I am sure you can still order them but what are the chances they will arrive? I asked earlier and still can't get my head around people's movements. All things being equal, I would land myself in a pub in London (i.e. not Wembley) and watch the game with a good bunch of Villa fans. But, reading this thread, am I right in saying most people might have an early drink in London and then head to a pub in Wembley to watch the actual game? Leaving Silverspoons aside, what is the point of going to the hole that is Wembley if you don't have a match ticket? So, anyone in London London all day Sunday?
  11. I'd recommend all of the below, especially Nell Gwynne. Nag’s Head James Street Cove Covent Garden Piazza Essex Serpent King Street Roundhouse Garrick Street Maple Leaf Maiden Lane Nell Gwynne Bull Inn Court Coal Hole Strand Think ill try a couple in each! Take it there is still no place planned for a meet. Go on then. Here's a pub crawl I devised for work a few years back. Not all pubs are spectacular but could be fun for any Villans hanging around London on Sat.
  12. Around baker street... The globe and wspoons over the road mate.. plenty going on round that way. to confirm dudley_villas post about Baker Street and the area. lots here....... .........and Wetherspoons Its then easy to get to Wembley from Baker Street tube station on either the Jubilee line or the Metropolitan line. See you all there for a pint or two nice and early on the Sunday......... Up for The Globe. Are people just meeting here pre-Wembley or is anyone actually watching the whole game here? How random is Baker Street!? Suits me from Shepherd's Bush though...
