  1. I think we've spent £15 million of what was probably a £30 million budget (no source) and with £40 million in sales minus what ever goes to Genk we have a war chest this summer.

    Confirmed

    Richards - free

    Sinclair - £1-2 million

    Gueye - £7million

    Amavi - £8 million

Of the ones linked I'd like to see us sign

    Darder £8 million

    Pràet £8 million

    Townsend £12 million

    Austin £15 million

    Oulare £7 million

    Ryan/heaton £3 million

Not sure on likelyhood of fees but that would take us up to £70 million for the window and much stronger than how we finished last season

Would like to see Praet, Darder and Oulare brought in. Getting those 3 for under 25m will reap a major profit in 3 or 4 years if they were to move on. This isn't like the lambert scenario, these players are a league above the dross brought previously. And I just don't think spending big money on any player without no resale value is the way forward for our club. Still not smitten with the idea of Austin at 15m+, I think there are better players for less money although possibly higher wages(Remy, Hernandez, Martial. And if we managed to nab the 3 mentioned first I would say leave Townsend where he is at 12-15m and concentrate on another CB and the striker situation.

Probably already been posted, but I don't care, brilliant!

    Wooooaaahhhh......! Looks an absolute monster!!

  3.

I would be shocked if he was on more than 70k a week

Not saying it's definitely true or anything, but a Google search of "javi hernandez salary" says he's on 90k a week.

If he is then I would just pay it. If the TV revenue kicks in next season 90k will be chicken feed for top players. Plus losing Bent, Delph and Benteke off the wages will free up at least 150k a week off the wage bill. I just think if Benteke does go we need to make a statement of intent with our next striker or we will continue to look like inevitable relegation candidates. The club needs to stop f$*king about now and give something back to the fans after the last 5 years of nonsense.

IMO we need at least another CM, possibly 1 wide player and 2 strikers. I would also like another CB but am just thinking wishfully if I'm honest.

  4. If he is to leave then I would at the very least want a sizeable chunk of the 32m paid up front, say 20-25m. If we don't then we may find the budget cannot facilitate the fees the other potential targets might require. Lets be honest at least 10-15m would be needed to get anywhere near replacing benteke. If the clause states the full amount needs to be paid on transfer then until that time I would tell pool to piss off. The have played nothing but hard ball  with their own sales the last 2 seasons so should not expect anything else in return.

As I mentioned in the benteke replacement post, I would offer him to UTD if the deal with the scousers is on. Say 20m plus Hernandez who I believe Utd would let go for a good replacement. I would be shocked if he was on more than 70k a week and he just may go for a new project as a headline act especially as he has only played a bit part at utd and madrid the last couple of years?! If not then at least look abroad and spend good money. IMO Adebayor is a mercenary and will provide nothing should we be struggling in games, plus continually loaning players never really benefits us. Austin is not worth the 15m we will need to spend on him, he's slow and will provide no resale value whatsoever so I really hope we do not panic into getting either of those two.

  5. If Liverpool do meet the buy out clause I would then offer Benteke in a cheeky bid to Utd for 20+mil and Javier Hernandez.. Then use the rest to lure a top prospect like Embolo. Austin for me is a no go. I can see him ending up at Newcastle and to be honest that suits me fine as I just don't think he's worth 15mil.

  6. The biggest issue with chants is that people try to be too clever or inject too much personal humour. They will never catch on.

I wish we still sang The Bells Are Ringing. I'm gonna have a go at Burnley.

Would love to see something like this in the lower north stand next season, Flags, Banners the whole shabang!! Class!

  7. Decent player but as others have said playing for a contract somewhere else. After the pathetic performance in the Cup Final I ain't crying to be honest as I won't if most of them get shifted on or leave. No great loss imo.

  8. Guy's don't get me wrong, I'll always be Villa. It's just not the same anymore.

What are we looking at right now?, our best player possibly going to the team we beat in the semi-final whose manager will be out if they are not in the top 4 come December. A chairman who wants out, maybe, kind of, possibly who knows. Fans who are that frustrated they have been fighting with each other (and not just at Wembley). A manager whose only managed 50 odd games and a team that can lose to most league one teams on any given day.

In the past we have been through rough spells but I always felt optimism. Going down then coming back up with GT, losing GT to England but singing all day at Everton until he came out to us.

Maybe I've got it wrong and everyone else will go next season with renewed faith but deep down I can't shake the feeling that something drastic needs to happen for us all to wake from our slumber and reclaim our pride and self-belief.

Either it's just me being an old git or others feel the same way?. Either way don't get me wrong I'm Villa till I die.

Your an old git mate! ;)

I know exactly how you feel though. At 41 I have seen more than my fair share of highs and lows supporting Villa. My own support(attendance) has faltered over the last couple of years due to the way the club has been run. I just stopped going as much and have along with friends been more selective of my visits to vp. Problem for myself though is that if I don't go I'm still like a crack addict. I'll find the best stream or means of watching the game and then proceed to pace up and down, curse continually and get nervous as f__k.  And if we lose I promise myself "never again"-  and I will never watch match of the day after a defeat. If we win the fist goes in the air, I'm bouncing but relaxed and I'm defiintely watching match of the day later that night!

There is no hope though for me I'm afraid. Being a kid and walking down the trinity road especially for an evening game, seeing the sky glowing in the distance because of the floodlights, hearing the crowd getting louder and louder as you get nearer and then being struck by this beautiful oasis in the shit city of Birmingham(pun intended) that screams VILLA  TIL I DIE!! It brainwashed me.

My own experience of the cup final was fantastic. The day itself was one of the best ever personally following Villa regardless of the result and our fans were magnificent apart from the few dicks throwing punches. From the moment the first drink went down in the green man to singing and dancing around the streets of Wembley. Its's not often I get the chance to act like a lollipop these days so I bloody well made the most of it. The way I see it though was that in the end the game/event although not irrelevent was more an opportunity to party after the frustrations of the last couple of years, we just didn't get the cherry on top at the end of the day. I went with no expectation of victory, I only hoped the players would have a go and give us a goal to celebrate...just one. Neither occurred however what I got out of the day was a reminder. A reminder that no matter how shit the team performs at times Villa is a huge club with fantastic supporters that represent. Everything to be proud of in my opinion and as low as I feel at times I just can't give it up however painful or costly!

If Villa catch you then the ticket get cancelled. A few people have already seen their ticket cancelled because they were stupid enough to post pictures of the full ticket. It's not because of the high prices either, you're not allowed to resell the ticket full stop.

Is there an email i can contact villa with, i have pics of the guys ticket.

Why on earth would you grass someone up just because they choose to sell their ticket at an inflated price?

Sure touts especially the websites selling tickets do take the pi**. However there are genuine fans who maybe a little or very skint and need the money or maybe unable to make the final for whatever reason. Fans who may have travelled all season home and away watching drivel and spent a small fortune. Why should they give up the opportunity to earn a few quid? My issue isn't with season ticket holders selling their tickets, as I believe they have every right to sell for whatever the purchaser values the ticket at, the issue for me are the websites ripping people off with tickets the FA have given away to their corporate buddies.

I paid £400 for 2 tickets a couple of weeks ago so my children could witness the big day. I already had mine through a friend but would've given the ticket to my son to go instead as I've been lucky enough seeing us live twice in finals in the 90's. It turned out that neither of my children are able to go due to work commitments, so after all that I sold the tickets for what I paid to a friend and got my money back.

The bottom line is though I would've paid more for the tickets than I originally did not because I'm loaded but because it's an important day in the history of the club and I wanted my kids to experience the occasion at least once. And I paid over the face value as I haven't had a season ticket the last 2 years and wouldn't of had a chance to get 1 let alone 3. If I couldn't have made it financially or otherwise I would be gutted as many are but still never begrudge someone else either, A) making a few quid or b ) Giving another fan the chance to go if they are willing to meet the owners asking price. After all nobody is forced to buy it's a choice.

It made me laugh when I read a page or two back where the owner of the Manor Tavern was selling his ticket to the highest bidder and a few posters started slagging him until someone the mentioned the money was going to charity. Even then people still want proof??!! I mean come on... get a life!

IMO if you want to screw, screw at the FA over their allocation or private ticket agencies who earn millions through exploiting fans for all events. Not the fans who might earn a couple of hundred quid every 15 years we make a final and have probably over the years spent thousands like myself on the Villa.

Firstly, it is contravening the terms and conditions of sale.

Secondly, the type of person so desperate to pay inflated prices for a ticket is obviously a genuine Villa fan. What kind of a low life scum bag would exploit their fellow Villa fans?

Thirdly, there is uproar about how many tickets go to the FA's so called "football family" and about how many of these tickets find their way onto the black market. How can we possibly complain about our poor allocation when some of this allocation is blatantly being re-sold for profit.

I've heard numerous stories about greed this past week or so that have sickened me. if you cannot see what is morally wrong with profiteering out of other peoples love for the club then there is something wrong with you. To me, it stinks of the new type of football fan that exists today.

I think your missing the point I was trying to make. Of course tickets shouldn't be resold but they are. It's life, most of what you buy in life will have been sold for a profit and in some cases a large profit. As citizens of this planet we get exploited and ripped of daily-fact! Forget the black market look at the legit ticket outlets online selling tickets for outrageous prices all around the stadium that's where the problems is. TicketMaster, Ticketbiz etc.

As I mentioned I initially paid through the nose for tickets as many have but I had a choice as everyone else whether to buy or not. Some fans may have genuine reasons to sell their 1 or 2 tickets for a profit and who is anyone to judge without knowing the circumstances behind that?! I certainly wouldn't be calling them scumbags without knowing why they are selling or try to get their tickets cancelled through bitterness and jealousy. If for example if I was skint and had a choice between paying my bills, putting food on the table for my kids or doing without, exploitation will become my middle name as I am sure for most of us it would. Plus can you really be exploited if you have a choice?

There is nothing wrong with my morals and most of the time there's nothing wrong with me either I just don't see the point in picking on someone that may be in the brown stuff financially and need the help that selling a ticket may provide. Those that regularly rip people off I definitely have a problem with.

  10. I thought we were superb in the first half, Let them back into the game in the second and left on 90mins and ended up seeing the pen through the Mcgregor Suit window. All in all a great deal of improvement in the last couple of games and winning tonight was so important.

Only negative for me is a concern that he doesn't appear to fancy Gil at all. I really hope not though as I think if we do stay up he could be the future of this team.

All in all though glad I decided to go down my first game this season and being in the North lower when the goals went in was absolutely awesome!!

    VTID!!

  11. Personally last week the idea of bringing in Sherwood as manager was a little horrifying for reasons most have mentioned. Lack of experience being the most evident of the reasoning for most that he shouldn't get the job. Something happened though on Sunday that made me rethink my stance... What was it we really needed to avoid relegation and possible disaster in the short term?! Half time against Leicester and we had the answer.  Someone who would come here, roll their sleeves up, and get straight into the mix with a positive approach.

Now I don't necessarily think that Sherwood was the only reason we turned that game around on Sunday, however seeing him bomb down to the changing room at half time with the attitude of, "I'll sort this out", Well I just felt a little more secure about things turning out ok. And after watching our midfield spring into action in the second half and prove(even Cleverly) that they have far more in the locker than we have seen of late. I'm feeling a little more positive that we can get out of this current mess we find ourselves in.

I wanted an experienced top manager however what I wanted most is a character that has a positive influence on the club and players straight away. Now Tim maybe a little dim, a little bit of a cockney wideboy, may even rub people up the wrong way and put his foot in it from time to time. But, If he gives our players the confidence to go out and believe in themselves, play the right way without fear and we manage to turn the corner. Well I'll just have to raise a glass to Sherwood because last week we were down chaps and now we have hope again. Something I haven't had for a long time.

  12. A question for those who keep suggesting we make a move for Klopp. Are you taking the piss or do you not understand the size of Borussia Dortmund as a club or how highly rated Klopp is in world football?

Do you not understand the size of Aston Villa?! You keep aiming small mate! No ones saying he will come but as they say "If you don't ask you don't get". Klopp after being interviewed at the start of the season I believe commented he wanted to come to the premiership next season. Now unless there is some major problems at the other end of the division can you see him heading to any of the bigger clubs in the summer? Also are Dortmund going to get CL football next season? And how the hell do you know what job/project might actually tempt him anyway? Villa is still a massive club.

The way I see it is that although we have been shit for the best part of 4-5 years. IF the owner changes his stance on the direction of the club and wants to either max commercial revenue and/or increase the profile to sell, getting a big name manager with proven pedigree should be top priority.

It's an example of where we should be aiming that's all. Not the Sherwoods of this world that have proven jack shit. Even Lambert had proven more than that.

Maybe Klopp, De Boer wont be interested but I do know who I'd be offering the job to before we get desperate for the also-rans mentioned.

  13. Personally I would love to see us have the balls to approach the likes of Klopp, Klinsmann or De Boer. Bring in a top coach with the promise of better investment over the next couple of years to restructure the club from the academy to the first team. Of course I'm probably pissing in the wind but the TV money over the next few years could provide a good coach the base to build us back up again.

Sherwood getting the job would concern me to be honest. If he didnt get off to a good start how long will it be before he starts rubbing the players up the wrong way. Think the Villa job would be far too early for him.

  14.

Most winners aren't likeable. Who gives a shiit if you don't like Lennon.

Totally agree. I said this last night, who cares if you like them or not, if they get results?

Lambert came across as too weak to me, more the teams mate than a manager. Need a bit of steel and authority in there.

Most winners are nasty b******s :D

    Who you calling a nasty bast**rd?! ;)

  15. I like the fact that he had the nut's to pull the trigger however anyone can find the strength too put someone out of their misery in the right circumstances. Can he get the manager we need though? That's the real test as to his quality as a CEO, and an idea of the direction we are truly going in. Hopefully the owner has decided his investment is too precious to **** up and is now willing to start taking this shit seriously at least until the club is sold.

  16. Sean Dyche is now second favourite apparently.

Can't see it to be honest. Doesn't strike me as the sort of manager to walk out on a team at this point in the season. I would be surprised if we go for anyone under contract.

  17. I've been embarrassed to be associated with Villa for the last few years now; like others have said I'm trying to let my allegiances go from day to day, week to week etc but I do feel so angry at our demise.

We are a complete joke of a football team and it's probably best we freefall down to League One so our illustrious history is defined as HISTORY once and for all.

What you on about? "embarrassed to be associated with villa" and "it's probably best we freefall down to League One so our illustrious history is defined as HISTORY once and for all".

You sure your a Villa fan?! Get a head check!
