Brighton will be the ultimate banana peel.

We need to come out of Thursday unscathed and prepared for them. We can't expect an imploding Liverpool side who appear to have quit on their lame duck manager to beat Spurs, even at Anfield.

I don't know if I prefer us to play before or after Spurs on Sunday. I suppose it's better to play before them. Whether we win, lose or draw, they'll feel the pressure to win.

Liverpool will be desperate to beat spurs after the var farce earlier in the seaaon

What does done in both comps mean? Emi is suspended for first leg anyway. We can beat Brighton with Olsen and if Spurs lose next 2 as well they can't catch us.

Done in both means we fail to get 4th and knocked out of CL. With Emi, we do both.

Olsen in goal means we play deeper to protect him and he concedes 2 plus goals in the majority of games he plays

  3. I now think the season hinges on whether Emi is fit for the run in.

If he misses brighton, olympiakos and liverpool, i think we are done in both competitions.

We cannot play the same way without him and will concede too many soft goals. Olsen concedes too many soft goals. He's conceded 7 in 3 PL games and confidence in the defence is shot when he plays.

Pearson and that Chaudhry woman talking in the buildup this morning to the 12:30 game stating next year Newcastle Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool Tottenham Man City Chelsea will all be better🤣🤣🤣🤣

They're probably right, but we will also be even better

A draw would be okay, Spurs unlikely to get all three points this weekend either.

Another poster summed it up perfectly. Assume spurs are getting 6 points from burnley and sheff utd.

Any points we pick up in the next 4, spurs have to beat that tally from games against, liverpool, chelsea, city and arsenal

  6. In order of priority:

DM: cover for kamara and rotate with DL/BK

RB: An upgrade on cash to alllow konsa to play centre half

LB: An upgrade on either digne or moreno, providing we sell one of them.

LW/SS: To challenge Leon and Moussa, whilst buendia and ramsey get back up to speed.

Having lived through so much pain for Villa wanting CL so much and making it donor die was stressing me out to no end. Being defeatist is a way of avoiding the pain of failure.

But what is failure? I think we are now a top 8 side and we can compete for trophies and CL places and win any football game against any side. If we end 7th one season and 5th and get CL another as long as we can be sustainable and compete isn't that success?

So by that metric this season is a success a resounding one. Nothing that can happen over the final games of the season can really change that

One I look at it from that perspective life isn't as stressful and every game doesn't bring agonising levels of nerves and stress.

    Fair play 👍

Maybe i still haven't accepted our new reality under Emery but realistically i cant see us having this good of a season next year. It really is very hard to finish top 4 and Man U and Chelsea aren't going to keep dicking around forever are they. If we don't get Champs league this year it could be years before the opportunity comes again, that's why we cant let it slip.

This could be the first step of something great in the coming year's or another missed opportunity before we fall back into the middle of the pack again.

Also, liverpool might not be great with a new manager, brighton could fall away further. No one knows. Emery will be looking to improve year on year though - that at least is certain
