An extract from an interesting article on Randy and Villa in Daily Mail 31st Dec :

'The new year will herald the 30th anniversary of the club's European Cup triumph over Bayern Munich.

Until six years ago, it was a moment that few of a claret and blue persuasion felt would ever be repeated.

Until, that is, American billionaire Randy Lerner announced his arrival into English football at Aston Villa with all the razzmatazz associated with a money man from across the pond.

Splashing the cash showed the former lawyer meant business.

Lerner, once a regular, has been seen just twice at Villa Park all season. The billionaire pays the club's dues by extending his equity and the use of loan notes in a 50-50 split.

He is now a divorced father of four and has to spend at least six months in Ohio, Cleveland, for personal reasons. Lerner watches live television feeds of Villa's matches wherever he is in the world.

A highly placed member of Villa's staff said this week : ‘We are going to adopt a low-risk strategy but it will be one of steady and continual growth. We are in a transitional period but Aston Villa will be better and stronger for it. Success may not be just around the corner but we are building towards it.’'

I used Christmas as a reason to email Messrs Lerner, Krulak and Faulkner to convey festive best wishes and to 'wish them well for what they do for Aston Villa'...It would be interesting to see 'what they do' for Aston Villa in 2012

I also asked general Krulak if he intends to return to villatalk.

I had no replies yet, even though Mr Faulkner replied to a previous email I sent him in the summer.

Saw this morning that Mat Kendrick was having the weekend off, in what seems to be a busy time at Villa park or is it not as busy as we are led to believe?

Considering that MK was the one that broke GH sacking before anyone else in the country and was given plaudits from national press for this story you would think he would want to be around in order to break the story of who is going to be the new manager.

This makes me think that he knows that nothing is going to happen over the weekend, possibly been tipped off as when some press releases are occuring. Link this with the TheTrees stating that RL has left the country does this mean that everything is sorted and it is just a matter of getting the timing right for an Aston Villa unveiling?

Obviously this is all speculation but it just strikes me as funny that a professional like MK would not be available to report on the BIGGEST story in sport at the present moment, if the news broke over the weekend regarding a new manager, cos he's having a couple of days at home?

I think Randy has gone back to America - because that is where he lives.

Hes probably put a few wheels motion - but the earliest I can see is towards the end of next week.

If Martinez was offered the job - (which I don't beleive he was) - then the likes of Poyet, Grayson are feasible targets.

The most logical appointment is still Mark Hughes - but thats logical not probable.

Jurgen Klinsman would be a good shout... Totaly left field... But no PL experience... Although if Moyes is a no go then I think RL would drop tnis stance for a great European manager like Kinsman... Especially as he played in the PL... One problem... Would he have a Spurs love in when we play them at WHL? Lol!

Last week I mentioned about Ranieri and Moyes on the General's thread 3 times and each time I posted, it was taken off, don't know why....mmm...???

Other people mentioned other manager names and their posts were not taken off.

Would like to read more into it, but your posts were probably removed because the mods have re-iterated 100's of times not to ask the general questions about managers or players. But you never know!
