If you lived through the last 4 years and then voted Trump, what is it about Trump today that would make you think you’d misjudged him?

Yeah I agree. He has said such nonsense, hatred, lies etc for the last four years. That speech was, well normal for him. No one has changed their minds after seeing that.

  2. And clearly I have snuck into a rabbit hole. Things of note:

    * How steep it really is after that first turn

    * How there really is not even a pit lane as we would know it.

    * How some hay bales and “she will be wright attitude” worked as a safety protocol.

Surprised by how much I enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit. Was recommended it by a friend and presumed it totally wouldn’t be my thing but I thought it was great.

Finished last night. Had it’s slower moments but all in very good if not better. As an aside if you are wont to have a few on the couch with the cat beside yourself a perfect check on your cerebral status is a quick game of chess. Absolutely woeful with eight in. Astonished I was. Cat not so much. Very wise is she.

Back to the show 8/10. Will watch again.

CNN can't help themselves but to mention and eulogize McCain every time Arizona comes up. Sickening.

Can’t defend McCain’s record one way or nuther. Having said that he did sort of legitimize the f*ucknuttery we have now by choosing Sarah Palin as a running mate to appeal to the tea party. And thus letting a lot of folk seeing the presidency as something that any half-wit can do. On the other hand without his yay vote for the health care act I would be paying $14000 plus a year for the privilege of said health care. But I do agree with you he needs not be mentioned in the circumstance we are in.

Was it the one of the Pope holding something, with that something replaced by a picture of Jack and Barkley?  I'm guessing it was some sort of 'sacrilegious' bollocks.

The Pope was mentioned so I guess that was it.  👍

  6. Can you hear it?
    I can hear it.

Dean Smith’s Claret and Blue Army

Dean Smith’s Claret and Blue Army

It may have been sung last year but I feel with a lot more conviction this year.

Don't assume it will be Pence, it's not a given. I thought the same and do think it's the most likely given the probable timings but what actually happens is the GOP get to decide again. The RNC can endorse who they like by whatever means. Don't rule out the RNC taking advantage and completely changing direction by putting up Kasich, Ward, hell even Flake or Romney. Winning is ultimately more important to them

How does that work with folk that have already voted like I did on Monday?  I would still vote Biden BTW.

It's good to see that VAR is starting to look a bit better this season, given it seems to have been successfully adopted by every other sport ever. It'll probably take a few years before they find the sweet spot where it improves decisions without slowing games unnecessarily, but it's a price worth paying imo. I find the VAR actually makes things more interesting in rugby when there's a try with dubious grounding etc because watching all the camera views is kinda cool, especially in the stadium when you didn't necessarily get a great view first time.

The other thing I'd like to see that works well in rugby is players being cited after the game. I think it's kinda crazy that there isn't an official inquest when one player badly injures another (i.e. what happened to Wesley) and long suspensions being handed out for any foul / reckless play. If used sensibly it could really help cut down on blatant diving, too, which could only be a good thing.

Some good points there.  If it is still a rule, the idea if the ref gives a yellow It can’t be reviewed for a blatant red that was missed. Use the tech. A positive outcome for all. Well except the “top six”. Boo hoo. How bad. Too sad.

  9. Tasmanian here. He is from Launceston well I think he is so there is a bit north south divide. Having said that congratulations MR PORTE. Crashing out in Brazil it has been a long  time and amazing effort. My deaf and blind cat who is asleep beside me says, well not a lot. But trust me me we are equally stoked. 👍

They will do the former, because the latter - an uncertain shot a presidential term with an unpopular doofus in charge - is worth a hell of a lot less than the baked-in decades-long dominance of the court they are about to take.

I guess it is how much Trump backs himself. He wants a second term. That means folk love him. So if he thinks he has a chance of a second term and therefore not going to jail for, well, everything, he will do what ever the f*$k he wants.

  11. I guess it will be either ram a new appointee and potentially loose by more. ie drive the backlash Dem vote. Or dangle a Trump re-election to get folk out to vote. Trump 2nd term. A fine balancing act as to where the Republicans see their chances.
