  1. The level of signing I think we all expected this season in the 30-40m range with Buendia and Bailey, next season will be about moving another level again if we can progress.

  2. Twitter is a cesspool, but the backlash to Sam Lee was interesting to see, Percy blocking comments now too and others following suit. The media on a whole has moved from reporting news to creating news, even more so in recent times. Some people power may make them think twice about the obvious click bait content they're creating. The word "journalist" next to most of their names is a disgrace to the profession.

We haven't been doing any pre or post match pressers for pre season so I highly doubt you'll hear Dean say anything on the matter. People will just have to wait until he's back next week for clarity.

I think a lot of that is down to the fact that Dean was in isolation, he's not now, so no doubt he'll be asked.

I thought we were going to have better targets this window than that.

To be fair it's in a position we're well stocked in, but need competition/cover. For anything under 8m it would be a good move and he'd provide competition and has good potential.

We need to the spend big improving the team further up the pitch

Semi-relevant as they're players that have been suggested in here previous, but Palace are trucking along quite nicely this window in terms of freshening things up. Olise, Guehi and have just announced Andersen as well as being in for midfielders apparently.

None of those players would get into our starting 11 right now, may turn out to be great for palace but we're buying at a level or 2 above that. I'd expect we're going after top proven players and those signings take time, particularly with a lot of top players still on holiday til next week.

  6. The German source on this is the same fella last year as the Rashica nonsense. Max Bielefeld I think the guy on sky was.

Would be an interesting signing and certainly looks a better player and prospect than Emile Smith Rowe to me, albeit very different players.

Not really. It's not about the trinkets but those big nights playing the big games, in front of thousands live, millions back home, and testing yourself at the very best. The trinkets come because of it, but players don't do it for that, its to win. Win the biggest games and your team involved in the biggest finals. I think although the piece is well intentioned and of course there may be players that want a medal rather than a game, but the article is wide of the mark. Every top player, every player, is in it for that feeling. that magical feeling of winning big games, scoring big goals, that last ditch tackle or Banks style save. That's what will turn Jack's head, and that's what will make him ask if he can play those games with Villa which is what he wants to do, which is what we want him to do, but which man city can guarantee now and we cannot.

personally i'm not sure it's trophies he cares about...i actually think for jack the main motivator is football. he's spoken frequently about his admiration for KDB and the chance to line up with him plus the other superstars would appeal. yes mcginn might be a right laugh on a night out, matty targett is a lovely lad i'm sure and no doubt they'll all remain good pals but there's no comparison football wise.

the big question is whether we are realistic in our ambitions that we're selling him. failing with the ESR signing wouldn't have been a good look as it would have told jack we're still a little way off being able to sign elite players. i think getting leon bailey done would send a message. if jack's currently on the fence, i wouldn't piss about with this signing. get it done.

Fair points, and certainly the sort of ambition every pro should have, but they're often fleeting moments on the big stage and forgotten quite quickly over a short time.

Jack is so good, he will play on the biggest stages with England and if NSWE continue as they've shown so far, he can with Villa too if he stays.

The legacy stuff will last far longer. Paul McGrath is absolutely loved at Villa and what a hero he is, but Jack can far surpass that.

I know a few Watford fans who say he's only been OK for them the last few seasons and never really kicked on. 'useful' is their wording for him and that's this season in the championship.

Our new starting CAM he is not

He was instrumental for them under the new boss in the second half of the season playing in front of the back four and starting moves from the back, I'd imagine that's where Villa would see him coming in, taking the ball off the back 4 and initiating our attacks, would help with our distribution and keeping the ball better too.

Would be a shrewd signing who'd surprise a lot of people. We don't need 11 superstars to be a top side, we need 5/6 exceptional players and the supporting players that work as part of a well oiled machine to let the stars do their thing.

  9. When you have one of the world's best players, unfortunately you'll get the speculation and interest that comes with it. It just shows how far we've progressed over the past 3/4 seasons and no matter what, I'm confident we'll keep pushing on.

I still firmly believe Jack will stay, really it's just all a load of noise at the moment and a lot of panic over very little true substantial information.

  10. Sam Lee isn't even respected by the city fans on their forums and his tweet this morning being put down as his usual covering all bases nonsense.

    Looking at the facts:

    - Not one respected publication has reported a bid. If there was a release clause, city would have just bid and been done with it.

    - I've no doubt Jacks agent is speaking with City or whoever, it's his job to get the best deal for Jack(and him) but this will most likely lead to Jack signing a new deal at villa on wages matching one of the best and most sought after players in the PL.

    - Jack and the clubs social media posts are no fluke either, if you've agreed a deal to move to another club, you keep quiet.

I expect Jack to be back at the club next week and a new deal announced within a week. As posted before, if the club was to respond to all newspaper rumours, it would never end.

  11. Jack is crucial to our immediate ambitions, but our ownership and the transfer fee he would bring would make us a better side in the long run. Jack is the best player I've seen at the villa including McGrath, but irregardless he'll give us another year at least.

NSWE didn't buy the club to just make a few quid, Nas is already richer than anyone needs to be and Wes just won the NBA with a previously unfancied team that hasn't done it before.

Sorry have you spoken to Smith personally about this? I think you’re wrong but like you this is only an opinion.

It is highly unlikely, have you spoken to Smith? I'm out of this thread, but your obsession with us buying Tammy is bordering on insanity.

More than likely is a deffinate and maybe he will end up somewhere else it's always a possiblity just like him coming here.

Who says it's going to cost 40 mill, no one but the idiots and media.

You think Chelsea are going to sell him at a knock down price? when they're selling youth players like Guehi who've never played in the first team for 20m+.

The only realistic thing in this thread is the likelihood that Chelsea would demand near 40m or more for Tammy.
