  1. Don't give me the "but..." "but..." "but...", you got your answer; now drop and give me 20.

Redknapp is ruthless. Hence how he has recovered from set-backs and is now the favourite for the England job.

Mcleish is simply a shyte manager. In a 2 team League he finished 3rd. Wonderful stuff.

Bottom line is, he should go. Not because he came from Birmingham, simply due to the fact he's inept and his record is shocking.

  2. anyone who protest's should not be allowed to enter the stadium, simple as

anyone who protests during the match should simply be kicked out.

(or maybe made to sit in the middle of the away fans 8) )

i have no problem with people protesting before and after the match though.

If you pay your money to attend a game then you are rightly justified to voice your opinion (within means) of how you feel.

If that was to boo for 90 minutes or to protest then so be it. You can't 'kick' people out for that.

  3. I am not being funny, but Southampton etc... don't/didn't exactly have the resources that Mcleish has at Villa.

Redknapp got them relegated as they were poor sides with poor players. You have to work with what you have and Mcleish has a top 10 squad to work with which is currently on the brink of being dragged into a relegation scrap.

Saying that, I'd find it hard to manage a side while I was on the dodge :winkold:

  4. If you are in the Holte End, don't forget to boo the moment that Hutton touches the ball for the first time...

Would that be the same Alan Hutton who actually the last few games has started to play rather well with at least one assist?

    Yep............ thought so!

If you think Hutton is anywhere near 'playing quite well' you need help.

He can't control a ball for toffee, against QPR it was laughable, this then leads to these stupid lunges which injure people and cost our team (he is lucky not to have been sent off 3 times this season) and to top it all off his positional sense is terrible.

I back the protests 100%. Why wait until it gets worse? Better to protest and try to do something now in The Prem than when he's dragged us into the Championship and it's too late.

On the protests, I hope they are aimed at the board as well. Lerner and Faulkner need to do one as well.

  5. This is all getting too ridiculous.

Just because he managed SHA he's not good enough.

He went down with SHA largely because after the cup win he lost a large number of first team players from his squad. I honestly think they would still be in this league had that not happened. Bear in mind that they finished 9th and last year we ended up 9th but were in a relegation battle until the penultimate game of the season when only secured our prem status by beating arsenal. 6 points in the last 2 games and we shot up to 9th!!!!!!!!!!!!! Papering over the obvious cracks if you ask me. Thise cracks are still here and McLeis has to be given time to address these. We're not Man City who can leave a 35m striker out of the squad becuase they don't like him anymore.

He hasn't had money to spend (he's replaced people not built his own swuad) and what he has spent has actually been good imho.

As Rob182 said all of his signings were generally welcomed as good signings with maybe a question mark over hutton.

Everyone on this sight works off hindsight. In hindsight Nzogbia hasn't performed as we would have liked, or expected, but has ashley young hit the heights at ManU? No one thought it was a bad signing and I still don't think it is.

People say he's playing in the wrong position but has anyone thought thst perhaps this is because Mcleish feels he can't yet play him in his favoured position because he needs him elsewhere on the pitch becuase we have a small squad?

Hutton has been poor but the guy hadn't played in god knows how longs never mind the move to a new club. Will he come good, i'm not convinced, but was it a bad signing? Who else was available for a right back position that we could have got?

Given quite simply has been excellent.

Plus he has to work with a squad that:

    1. is not his squad (he's not even had one season in the position to stamp his mark on things)

    2. in which there seems to be a few cliques and divisions.

He's here to stay gents so get used to it. The club (no doubt under his guidance) has shifted out a number of high earners from the wage bill this year and a few more will go in the summer.

Those on what I call MON contracts with a year or two left will be harder to shift but no doubt we will try if he feels any of them are being disruptive. Whether he can shift them is another matter (and not his fault if he can't).

I truly feel we will buy this summer and McLeish will stamp his own mark on the team a bit more. How much - I don't know. I'll judge him more next season when it's less of an O'Neill team (which frankly it still is) and more of a McLeish one.

If the football is poor at that time then he'll start to lose my support (as any manager would). in the mean time give the man a break and support your team through thick and thin.

For me he's making all the right noises but perhaps is being hampered by one or two seniors who think they are indispensible. They seem to want to play their way instead of his way. Can he drop them? With our squad, probably not.

A few players need shifting. Give him a chance to make it his team.

All the right noises? He said after the Arsenal defeat 'we lacked experience' yet our team had more experience than the Arsenal team.

He harps on about the defence yet the only change he has made to it, despite countless errors by at least 3 of the back four, has been enforced due to Collins being injured.

He says he likes 'attacking football' yet last week against Newcastle, after a decent first half, we resort to long ball and he then starts with his hopeless substitutions and has no idea how to re-adjust his tactics to change the game.

Letting him 'build' his own team here would be a disaster. We'd end up a dog-of-war team with the little creative flair we have stifled in favour of his 'let's see if we can nick a goal then put 10 behind the ball' tactics.

Mcleish is exactly the same as Neil Warnock. A decent Championship manager but nothing more. His record in the Prem is crap. For the guy spouting about facts, here is one...

HE GOT A TEAM RELEGATED TWICE

Name me another Premiership manager who has this on their CV and is currently managing a top flight club?

He should not be anywhere near Villa Park. He can give it all the talk he wants in press conferences but press conferences don't win matches. Motivating your team, sorting out a completely shot defence and having a bit of tactical know-how wins matches. He can't do any of this.

As for the woman saying 'performances are improving'. How? If we had 'improved' then results would be better, surely? The win at Chelsea was a fluke, Wolves would probably have got a draw at least if it wasn't for Henry being stupid and beyond that we have been a complete joke. When we were 2-0 up at Arsenal, I knew we'd loose as soon as that first goal went in. Not because I'm psychic but because Mcleish has no answer when a team changes their style of play against us. By constantly hoofing the ball 60 yards up the pitch (towards a forward who can't hold it up) you are just recycling the ball back to the opposition team. When that opposition team can actually string passed together, take note Mcleish, by law of average they will create chances and score goals.

People who continue to justify him being here IMO have given up. He should be sacked now. Get Curbs in. He's available, did well at Charlton until they had to start selling (due to bigger financial problems than we have) and knows this club and what it means to be a Villa player.

That would be too easy though for our thick board.

  6. Our squad of players should not be in the bottom half of the League. Full stop. They are because we have a manager who is negative and clueless.

Looking at the Premiership this season, it's very poor. IMO, though we have an average side, on paper it should be in the top 10 compared to what else is about.

As for the Midfield, I do believe that to be our strongest area. Petrov is under-rated, Ireland has looked class recently, Zog would be if the tit allowed him 90 minutes for once and we have a nice selection of youngsters pushing through.

Only 1 team has a 'brilliant' midfield - Barcelona.

  7. People on this forum who actually believe that Mcleish will come good at Villa are even more deluded than the idiot that forked out £3 million to get the tit in the first place.

This club is in a shambles. We have a chairman who has spent the last year and a half reeling back some of his money - don't say 'what about Bent, because for £20+ million I'd expect a bit more than a lazy goal hanger - we have a manager with a complete lack of tactical nous who, if he stays, I honestly believe will get us relegated and on the pitch we have possibly the worst defence in living memory that flap around every time the ball comes within 5 yards of the box.

Mcleish will be shown for what he is - in over his head. His decisions are baffling - Newcastle away for instance - he talks shyte and he's helped turned Villa Park into a ground that teams must relish coming to for their gift of 3 points.

It hurts to see how in less than 3 years this club has sunk into the depths of desperation. O'Neill must take a portion of the blame but in the current here and now, Mcleish is to blame because he picks the team, he needs to motivate, he needs to make key decisions and at the present time he is failing spectacularly.

Bent isn't a lazy goal hanger. We've got our money's worth with him.

I agree with everything else though.

In terms of he's paid to score goals then I'd agree.

But watching him lately, he's just strolling around with a cigar on. Other players that justify such a fee have more to their game. They will create, can pass and do more than just score.

If that is his only contribution to the team, then we may as well flog him in the summer because he won't get the service the way Mcleish sets us up. Just think, if we can sell him for £20 million that is 4 Alan Hutton's.

    Goody-****-gumdrops.

  8. I can't even contemplate him being here for another 3 years.

Everytime I see his smurking ginger face on the touchline I want to punch it.

He is smug. Tell you what, I'd be smug if I'd landed a job that I shouldn't be anywhere near. It'd be like me being appointed a doctor cos' I know how to administer Calpol.

None of it makes sense. It really doesn't. It's like unlocking all the doors in a prison then being surprised that all the prisoners escape.

One big, huge massive balls up.

  9. We wont go down but to be in the dunces half of the league with this squad (even with its faults) is unacceptable.

6 wins in 24 games is exceptionally shit as is McLeish's 'Premiership experience'.

Dread to think of what his woeful legacy will be after 3 years of his utter sh1te mismanagement.

I never wanted him as manager, don't really want him now either, but his record after same amount of games is better than MON's first season with same amount of games and better than Houllier who had more and better players. He ain't gonna get sacked, so I'll reserve full 100% on him by seeing what he does in the summer or how he starts next season. If he starts signing players like Steven Davis, then he can jog on!

I wouldn't trust him to go down the shop and buy me a bottle of milk for £1.20 let alone giving him a 'free reign' and a small warchest (which will probably be funded by selling our best (if we actually have any at the moment) players) in the summer.

Our squad of players should not be in the bottom half of the League. Full stop. They are because we have a manager who is negative and clueless.

I'll chuck a name out there who I strongly believe we should go and get now - Alan Curbishley. He's available, has history at the club and I honestly believe would be our 'Alan Pardew'.

Saying that Lerner is probably saving up to chuck another £3 million at Sha for Chris Hughton.

  11. Did anyone else hear Mcleish say about us lacking 'experience' in our team?

Compare the two line-ups of the teams yesterday. I can guarantee that our starting 11 had more Premiership experience than the Arsenal staring 11.

Given, Dunne, Warnock, Petrov, Bent, Keane & Ireland. All been in around this league for years. Yes, Gardner, Bannan and Clark were on the pitch at the end but that is 3 players. All of whom Mcleish CHOSE to put into that game at some stage.

Let's look at Arsenal - Fabianski, Coquelin, Koscielny, Metersacker, Oxlaide-Chamberlain for a start. Not much Premiership experience there. Not compared to the list of Villa players above.

If I could be bothered then I'd find the appearance stats for every player in both sides yesterday. To be honest though, much like our feeble defence, I can't be bothered.

The sooner this inept, failure leaves the club, along with at least 3 (if not the whole) of that defence then the better.

This is what happens though when a Yank without an ounce of football knowledge rocks up at your club. How any person in a sane state of mind could see this all working out 'for the best' is beyond me.

  12. Phil Thompson is beginning to look like a very wise man now.

I'd **** Houllier off NOW. Get Johnny Gregg in untill end of the season and see what happens. Either that or give him a 1-year deal. If we go down, then I reckon he'd get us back up.

If we go down and this donkey stays, then get ready to go down again next year.
