I just can't quite believe the amount of seemingly intelligent villa fans that have become so picky that they wouldn't bite the hand off of a massively successful manager with bucketloads of contacts in the top leagues just because he came to a ignominious end at Liverpool.

And he also massively flopped at Champions League winning Inter.

Not to mention the amount of poor players he signed for Liverpool. Wasted a ridiculous amount of money.

I would have thought Spurs would choose Ancelotti over Hughes if that was the case.

Fulham fans genuinely don't understand why Hughes would want to go to Villa and they think Fulham will finish above us next season.

I think Sven signed him, but then Hughes was appointed manager, so everything was already in place, I don't think Hughes had a choice.

I don't like Hughes but I appreciate that he is a good manager and would be fairly happy with him as Villa manager.

I don't really think Downing or Young are good enough to play in the Champions League consistently if I'm being honest. That's the thing that annoys me. The Europa League is just so bad that all players look to get to is the Champions League, they don't give a shit about the Europa League.

UEFA really need to sort out the Europa League to make it much more attractive to clubs, players, fans and TV companies. If they did that, then not all players would desperately want to leave for Champions League football as much as they are now.

Read that interview. he basically says he's not signing a contract and wants Champions League football. Why did he have to lie about signing a new contract?

He said he would but it's all gone quiet now. The exact same thing happened with Young. Young stated that he wanted a new contract, then about a month later, when questioned on it, he said he'll wait till the summer because he is 'focusing on his football'.

What if Downing uses the same excuses and says he wants to focus on his holiday?

He's had one terrible injury and a few niggles which is to be expected since he's coming back from that.

If he continues to get these little niggles for next season then I'd agree with you. In his first season at Villa, I don't remember him being injured at all, so what you're saying is incorrect.

Wasn't really in the game for large parts but that's what you get with him. He also showed some good instinctive play when Petrov's shot was parried away. Oh and the build up play for the goal was excellent, didn't think he could do that.

Why would City want Baines. They've got Kolarov, who is just as good attacking and equally shit at the back.

Hughes is a good manager, no doubt about that, but I really dislike him. I hate the way he constantly blames officials and makes out that the whole world is against him.

Same goes for Pulis, Warnock and Fergie.

What I really didn't like about City after they won the cup was that in the interviews the players had they just said "Yeah we're going to spend loads this summer and become really good and FA Cup is just the start".
