Why is it a long shot? We're in the RZ on goal difference...I'd say we're in with a fair shout of getting out of jail...if we were 7 points adrift I'd be saying it was a long shot
-
Really disappointed Norwich and Fulham won, I'd have hoped at least one of those would get sucked into the scrap
Pressure is off for them for the moment at least. If they went on a really bad run then they could still be in a scrap but it's unlikely. I wouldn't rule out West Ham though, they seem to be out of form and are only 6 ahead of us...

I'd go with;
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Clark Baker
Westwood Sylla
N'Zogbia Weimann Agbonlahor
Benteke
Bench:Given,
Bennett
Lichaj
El Ahmadi
Delph
Dawkins
Bent -
There seems to be this mentality of holding on to a small margin of victory, which is why we sit back and invite pressure upon ourselves time and time again. Teams like United go and attack and try to score more...I wish we would do that.
Attack is the best form of defence

we simply HAVE to start winning at VP. W.Ham, QPR, Fulham and Sunderland all to visit. We need to win those games.
This. 8, 10 or 12 points from those 4 would give us a big chance of survival

Awful. No strategy on or off of the pitch. Absolute bollocks.

I think that the current state of ticket prices is worrying for the future of our clubs in England. If attendances continue to go down then it'll affect the next generations of fans coming through the gates. Agree with what a previous poster said about TV revenue going up (if we're still in the PL) and how that should result in cheaper tickets. But it won't.
The fans are the lifeblood of any club. There are what, say 3,000,000 people within 30/40 miles of Villa Park? We should sell out week in week out but it is ridiculously expensive and the fact that players are paid so much really pisses me off. Especially when the average person has to work their bollocks off to just get by in life. This isn't a dig a Villa, more a dig at the PL. Totally agree with a previous poster - if you've got to choose between a night out/gig or something or football then football can't always win, especially when the model is flawed in so many ways.
Something has got to give. If we could find a medium of fair ticket prices (like in Germany with standing back as well) with player wages/tv revenue then we'd be far better off on and off the pitch IMO. The atmosphere would be superb and that could translate into better results. The fans would be spending money on pies/drinks/merchandise etc so increased revenue there.
Even if the people in charge at AVFC wanted to do something along these lines they wouldn't be able to act alone. We'd need all the clubs to work together to make it happen.
German football is so much better than the Premier League. Cheaper, more fans, standing, awesome atmosphere (atmosphere at Villa Park and many other grounds is an embarrassment and exciting football (not always the same winners and top 4).
Anyway sorry this is the Bradford City ticket thread. The atmosphere will be great tomorrow, shame it's only once every few years.. UTV

I just think its ridiculous id pay £30 for villa v arsenal when you can have a season ticket for one of the best teams in the world bayern munich for under 150 pound full adult. I just feel sorry for fans who go every week and are bankrolling these players who do little or nothing for this club and a vast amount who are totally woeful.
Agree with this. Villa are not at fault it's just because we are part of the Premier League. The Bundlesliga model is the one to follow but nothing will change because the Premier League generates so much money...unless the fans took action...ie stopped buying tickets/sky subscriptions.

What happened?
-
Guzan
Lowton Vlaar Clark Lichaj
Ireland Warnock NZogbia
Gabby Weimann
Benteke
Doesn't matter what team we play. If we concede, it's over. With our defence and lack of midfield we WILL concede at least one. What an embarassment.
None of that midfield 3 are CMs. Would be torn apart. Agree with playing 3 in the middle though

With all due respect Bradford are no where near the quality of Bolton 04. They'd be a comfortable League 1 side. We created enough chances in the first leg, we've got to take them this time. It won't be easy because they will be fighting all the way but this is definitely doable
-
Or perhaps a better example...
-
Wish we would do something with flags like other clubs do just before kick off... eg:
-
I don't know why but I've had a weird feeling for ages that we're going to win the League Cup and stay up. I still think we can do it but we'll do it the hard way as ever.
-
Snow still pretty thick on the ground. Villa are confident the game will go ahead (on the official site/FB/Twitter). They will keep the areas clear around the ground and the main roads will be clear anyway. Might be worth checking about your flight though as I know Birmingham airport has had a few cancellations/delays.

Guzan Vlaar Dunne Clark Lowton Ireland Bannan Bennett N'Zogbia Bent Benteke Not sure on fitness of different players. If Dunne is fit I would like him to slot in, if Delph is fit to play, he should play in there for Ireland or Bannan. I think our strikers will get plenty of chances and I think if we get Bent in this and firing then he could easily get 2/3.
Don't think Dunne will be ready for this. Ireland & Bannan in CM on their own would be really woeful.
Guzan
Lichaj Vlaar Lowton Bennett
Clark
Bannan
Zog Gabby
Bent Benteke

It's like when it's your last week at school...no one gives a shit about behaving any more because guess what...you'll be gone next week. Warnock will be thinking the same, he will be off so why should he care about the club staying up. Ok bonuses may be available but is his heart really going to be in it? No chance.
-
Warnock in CM? He's a LB and he is no longer good enough for us at LB...why would he be any better as a CM. He is weak and slow, plus he probably doesn't give a shit about the team because he will be out of contract very soon.
An absolute no no from me. Warnock and Hutton have to stay away from the squad IMO.
-
You're probably right. The only way it would happen is if they take a view that he plays week in week out for a few months he'll go back a better player
-
It was always going to be a gamble having them..
-
Doubt he would come to us
He went to forest and Cardiff on loan (I know it was after a big injury. Shows he wants to play though.)
-
Aaron Ramsey? Always on the bench for Arsenal
-
Come on you Villa boys let **** have this!

Yep...but we're on the same amount of points as a team outside of the RZ...so is it really a "long shot" or does it suggest there are other sides equally as inept...?
