  1. If he's fine taking a wage cut, it's just a case of Villa agreeing to cut his contract short a year or extending the loan until the end of next season. Either way, he's a great option for us with Soldado most likely retiring.
  2. Hi all, Season over now and I guess Wesley will be on his way back to you guys. Overall, he did well and contributed well with a few goals and assists, and became a bit of a cult hero. Would happily take him on a free for the next season but he'd have to vastly reduce his wages from what he's getting at Villa, which probably isn't in his interest if he still has a year or whatever on his contract. Can't see him fitting into how you're playing under Emery and he's unfortunately not capable of playing to that level after the injury. Been a pleasure chatting and best of luck for next season. If you manage to get Pau Torres he'll be a great signing for you!
  3. The mental scars from that injury will last a lot longer than the physical damage, so playing in a slower, less physical league will certainly appeal and in turn give him more mental freedom on the pitch without worrying about some Shawcross type flying in and snapping his leg.
  4. Hi all. Quick Wesley update (can see you already saw he scored last night). He's started the last two matches (both Copa del Rey) and has played excellently. Working hard, creating space, sharper first touch, spreading the ball out to the wings and generally being a menace. Clearly well liked by the players and the stadium sang his name a few times throughout the match which must've been great for his confidence. Getafe are 14th in La Liga, so no mugs, and started the match with an almost first eleven. Wesley bossed the final third of the pitch and got the winner. Let's hope he can kick on for the rest of the season and gain some momentum as we push for promotion.
  5. He started the season playing off a 37 year old Soldado and he looked decent enough with an assist, but Soldado was scoring a few so by the time the coach realised he can't play two slow strikers with limited mobility up front, it was Wesley who got the chop. That manager has thankfully gone and the new one seems to like what he sees in Wesley but plays a 4-3-3 and he's just not got enough about him to play up front alone.
  6. That is absolutely horrific! Would love to see him back and scoring, and on paper he should be in the second division, but it's not looked great so far. Maybe with a run of games we will see more from him.
  7. Didn't know about the injury but it makes sense when you see him play. His movement is minimal and he doesn't like to get stuck in, which I guess is indicative of someone who has suffered a serious injury in the past.
  8. Hi all, Levante season ticket holder here and joined to ask about the mystery that is Wesley Moraes, but saw there's already a thread so didn't want to start another. Everyone was pretty excited when he joined thinking we were getting a premier league level Brasil international who had maybe lost his way a bit....... but this guy has REALLY lost his way. Big lad who isn't very good in the air, misses easy chances, doesn't seem to like running very much so walks around the pitch and has the first touch of a trampoline. He actually put in a great goal line clearance last night, shame it was one of our players taking the shot and he got in the way. Played well the first couple of games using his size to bully defenders and got an assist. Since then has just lost interest or confidence. Was it the same at Villa?
