  1. Maybe we are overthinking things here. We just don’t have a very good manager who knows his trade? I felt the same the moment Bruce walked through the door and knew it would end badly, have the exact feeling about Gerrard.

I just don’t think he can coach a team to be cohesive, together, as one - we look a hapless bunch of individual footballers who don’t enjoy playing together ☹️

We really should be looking after a player like this, he’s got years on Phil, super naive by Gerrard to freeze him out.

Gives his all too. If he leaves I’ll be gutted, phils probably got 2 more seasons in him then we’ll be searching for another no.10.

If I were him I’d be out of here like a shot - I reckon he absolutely smashes it in training and no doubt thinks that if I can’t get into this team, I might as well move on.

Its little short of a crime that such a talented player can be so easily dismissed. You’d think that with Gerrard being such a wonderful player and mixing with other world class footballers he would appreciate talent when it’s right under his nose 🤷‍♂️

Can’t play with a strike partner, but also isn’t good enough to lead the line and score goals. But pointless having him then.

When all is said and done and the dust settles I’m afraid the answer is yes.

what on earth are you talking about.

Many teams have good players, even great players, but wrong fit....I think you are interpreting my comments, wrong.....anyway, some have not been as convincing,as they should be IMO.

How many top managers have Man Utd crashed and burned, always their fault.....some of the best managers in world football, doubted, and dumped.

I am not suggesting SG is blame free, but equally don't think its all his fault either.

Not sure you will garner much support with this summary TRO - we have some very talented individuals and some unfortunately out on loan, yet we look distinctly average and I’m this is on him imo

The team as a whole are not creating or scoring enough, can't just pin the blame all on Ollie.

To be fair this is true - however I don’t trust him to convert chances regardless. As others state, he is not good enough to take us where we want to be. Good cover, but not a lot more imo

he can do that every week if he wants

I know you speak in jest, but that the issue with Ollie, he is just not technically very good and clearly every mishap is not going to bounce to one of our players to tap in 🤷‍♂️

He needs a run in the team. Hes given Bailey and Coutinho a run but we wont really know if he just picks him for the odd game then leaves him on the bench.

Exactly this - I think Emi would welcome the trust placed in say Bailey.

I just can’t see it happening though and wouldn’t be surprised if he has already told his agent to find him a new club.

I think he’s very overrated on here.

Serious question - how do you arrive at this conclusion ? Surely most people see that nine times out of ten, he has a positive impact when coming from the bench - it most cases this would lead to being giving a fair run in the team. All he wants is the fair chance to fail !

If Gerrrard stays Buendia will be gone at the end of the next transfer window.

    There are relationship issues there

I don’t know anything about this - but for sure he will be gone.

I reckon he absolutely takes the mick in training and must be thinking if I can’t get in this team I’m off in Jan ☹️

Today he was completely isolated every time he got the ball. Young hasn't got the legs to play as a rampaging RB, and Konsa hasn't got the nous.

Bailey was typically receiving the ball from a long cross-field ball, and with very few Villa options once he did. He made some bad passes - I appreciate that - but he was often having to beat a man just to try to lay it off.

He showed a flash of quality with the reverse cross in the early stages that Watkins should have left for McGinn. That could've been an assist and a completely different game all round.

He's not playing well, that much is clear. But he, like many others, must be frustrated and lacking in confidence at having to carry out such a thankless task.

Until this 11 players are a cohesive unit it's unfair to write any of them off as crap.

I disagree - I don’t think he has showed anything to suggest he will be a success in the prem.

I would take Bertie back in a moment over him.

At least Bertie shows moments of sublime ridiculousness - Everton apart I feel Bailey has looked bang average imo.

I do feel he has an over inflated view of himself which doesn’t help Matters either.

I do however agree that our current style of play does make it difficult for anyone to stand out☹️

I'm not willing to judge any of our players for general performances until there's some sort of system for them to play in.

Individual errors, bad passes and the like - they shouldn't be happening from anyone. But none of these players looks like they know what role they're supposed to be playing.

To be honest I think your being exceptionally lenient  here.

Yes I totally agree with the fact that we don’t have a system, style of play, identity and so forth - but quite frankly some of Baileys performances having left so much to be desired you have to question the player I’m afraid and he is not the only one

Needs a decent coach, get him working harder. Got some skills, but not a grafter, same as 75% of the team I guess.

You know what - I don’t think there is any chance of this happening - Bailey has the view of himself that he is some kind of world beater - when in reality he is bang average at very best !

  13. Made of glass and both he and his father have an inflated view of his worth.

How the heck he gets game time and Bertie is having to ply his trade in Turkey is simply not a very funny joke ☹️☹️

  14. I keep reading that Ings can’t play up top on his own? Well given that we create very few chances per game, I know exactly who I want on the end of one of those rare opportunities

Did you see us getting a draw against Man City?

I actually remember when we were on a bad run last season, people saying " I can't see us getting another point " etc.

Then we won 3 on the spin or something like that.

Now we might get turgid/boring performances, but we are certainly capable of getting results IMO

JV as I have said elsewhere Man City is no benchmark to anything.

yes we can beat Leeds but they are just as likely to beat us.

i genuinely have zero confidence in us right now and I haven’t felt this way since the dinosaur was in charge

A team like Man City you mean?

The Man City game is no benchmark I’m afraid.

this was a bunch of player punching above their weight in order to avoid a heavy defeat.

there is credit in this of course  but your not getting this too often

Can't justify his performance because we won the game, we could have been out of sight if he didn't keep losing the ball,

I've heard a lot of people say he is more suited to games like city where he is playing on counter, but in this game there was lots of moments like this. It's clear he needs to put some work in the gym to bulk a bit.

the reason he frustrates me so much is because it's clear that there is a real player in him (unlike traore who was all tricks very little end product),

I’d take Traore’ over him in a heart beat. I see absolutely nothing in Bailey to suggest he is a better player - as for no end products, surely you can recall his finish at West Brom.?

I still find it incredulous that Gerrard in his infinite wisdom thought it a good idea to ship him out. We are one of the most boring, uninspiring teams to watch right now - At least Bertie gave me hope and lifted my spirits.

We’re 18th in the league for big chances created, not sure what we expect from our strikers.

I didn’t know this - but equally I am far from being surprised

The way we’ve apparently decided to play now, long balls for a lone striker to chase down, would be difficult for anyone. Lots of thankless running. It’s not what Ings is good at.

He is far from being a lazy player - not as mobile as Watkins but his other attributes do even things out.
