No. VillaReport is genuinely an excellent twitter profile! They just retweet Villa based news, they don’t comment on its truth or not, the don’t make anything up, the don’t claim to be ITK, they don’t offer tips or betting or anything. They filter through and pick out Villa related items.

Honestly do not get why people don’t understand this, and for some reason it makes me really annoyed!

Happy to have got you so many likes, but this was the joke. I will think again before trying to faux-troll people. 😓😓

Always amazes me when some fans get upset about the club trying to secure the best financial deal. As if getting known amongst chairman for chucking cash about would not have any repercussions on all deals.

Let's just get Arry and O'Neill back. They'll pay it. We will be in league 2 and administration in 5 years but **** it.

    Just pay it.

While I agree, and I'm not suggesting we adopt a 'just pay it' attitude, going to the other extreme can also be counter-productive.

We've all heard the stories of missing out on certain players because previous Chairman haven't paid the extra cash for a good signing. Also look at Celtic and McGinn; they essentially lost their record breaking manager and a star signing to be over a couple of hundred thousand pounds.

  3. It's too simplistic to take the £25-£30m price quoted in the media and fans base their judgement of purchasing him on that.

If he would improve us, there is a lack of players in his position at the club, he has the right attitude, and he has potential to grow with the team as we develop through our PL journey, then how can anyone place a price on that?

Even then, the deal - as people have said - will likely be structured in a way that we only pay the add-ons if the above is true.

We can't expect to buy finished products, so let's get this done and integrate him - if, of course, he is Smith and Suso's man.

  4. Not directly related, but thought I'd ask it here.

Usually get down to a few games around Christmas and to a few London away days while we've been in the championship. Imagine this will get tougher now we're in the Prem though.

With that in mind, are there any major benefits - booking tickets wise - of being a Claret member. i.e. is it pretty superfluous for London away days etc. as I won't have a decent booking history?

  5. The goalkeeper situation is curios. Why has all gone quiet on Butland I wonder?

3 weeks ago I didn't think we needed a new GK as I'd hoped Kalinic would step up and do a decent job with a run of games.

I'm a bit nervous about going into the season ahead with a Steer / Kalinic combo. Fulham showed last season changing and chopping GK's is hugely disruptive to a defence, which will be a little chop and change itself for the first few game.

Getting a couple of solid CBs and a GK that would be an improvement on our current two would be invaluable.

  6. Wasps were rumoured to have purchased a 90% stake in Arena Coventry Limited, owner of the Ricoh, in 2014 for £30m. Call that £35m factoring in inflation. Links

The lack of comparable transactions in this space makes the valuation extremely subjective - that being said, Villa Park is worth at least £4bn.

  7. Wouldn’t begrudge Terry for going to Chelsea.

Would think twice about how intelligent Lampard is if he chooses him as his number 2 though.

Who hires their future replacement as their number 2? There would be one thing Terry wants from Lampard. Not his wife, his job.

we have to see him play for us......Hogan looked good before we signed him.

That’s very patient and rational - are you sure you should be on this forum?

might be worth trying to find the Brugge vs Monaco games (home and away), from the Champions League Group stages.

Wesley scored at home in a 1-1 draw, he also scored in the away fixture that Brugge won 4-0.

I can find the goals easy, but would be good to watch the whole match to see how he plays over 90 minutes.

He also played against Athletico Madrid and Dortmund in that group.

Might give a really good overview of him against decent opposition.

Would be good if our VT house scouts could provide their professional opinion based on these four games 👀

Avfc agent saying Mings offer was accepted earlier this evening.Hope to god he is right

Feel the word agent must mean something completely different than what I associate it with.

Just amusing to me cause I associate agent with something slightly more based upon accurate real life things. Just a language thing I guess

  11. For £4m it’s not worth worrying about - the only way this could turn out to be a bad signing is if we over-rely on him.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest we will based on comments from Deano / Purslow about the work they’re doing for this window.

  12. Although spending a lot of money comes with risks, I don’t think it should come with too much concern.

The players are likely to have a good resale value, our owners/ceo have their head screwed on, and the rewards of spending such large amounts are both needed and worth it.

  13. If we could get Tammy for £20-£25m I think it makes complete sense.

Iheanacho went to Leicester for £25m and Tammy has way more potential and proven quality.

It’s a risk, but if it wasn’t we’d be paying £40+m for a young English player gaurenteed prem goals.

Couple him with a proven Prem Striker that wouldn’t cost the world and has a good attitude, potentially off the bench - like a King or Wood - and we’d be in a good place I think.

Apparently he wasnt a steward he was s photographer and he wss kicking because his video equipment was getting trodded on

When I was watching it seemed like this was what was happening. I’m pretty sure he was a photographer and then after all the players were back over the sponsorship boards he was pointing at the floor

  15. Moan moan moan - I was as disappointed as anyone when I didn't wake up to Fer - ooohhhh eerrrr.

But come on, the lad is a good professional and a player that could thrive in a well implemented Smith midfield. Would people prefer we just ploughed on with Whelan?!
