He'll be a decent championship player, just feel like his time has passed here now.

Next season we could still have Trez and AEG as wide options plus whoever else we sign so can't see him getting minutes.

If AG ever plays for us again - boy will it be a come down for our ambitions. If we ever wanna kick on or achieve anything AG will never be part of the project. Lucky to be a championship player tbh.

  2. In truth he had probably played his last game for us anyway. Can’t see the season being resumed and we all know he is off, he has potentially cost us a few million in transfer fee but I certainly don’t think it will stop a top club from buying him as we all know football has no morales.

TBH I think it’s best he leaves regardless - we have become so reliant on him it’s not healthy for us as a club and to move onwards we need to become a team rather than a bunch of individuals and stop picking up his messes.

He will get a telling off but can’t see him getting prosecuted as the alcohol if any will have left the system. Drugs on the other hand and he could be in trouble with FA but time will tell. Either way he hasn’t grown up and I’ve never really felt he was captain material. To preach one thing on social media then do the other is ridiculous.

great great player but a silly boy. By all accounts a great lad but think it’s time we move on regardless. I hope for his sake this dosent set him back on his england career.

Bloke wasn't happy with a performance in the playoffs so broke from his religion and stopped fasting in order to perform better and help us get promoted.

Now he goes off injured and people jump to conclusions that he wanted to go off because he didn't fancy it.

Seriously **** embarrassing posts in here. Well done.

    Agreed -

id understand people’s frustration if he was was being played and we had someone who was far better being kept on the bench as a result but we don’t. I’d argue with anyone that Trez is an embarrassment as a premier league player and AEG is better. I completely agree that AEG is inconsistent but right now we have limited options and he’s the best of a bad bunch. Trez looked like an absolute clown today, soft as sh*t finishing and stupid moronic fouls.

I fail to believe Ghazi feigned injury - he seemed distressed with his eye and even if it was a soft innocuous hand to face if he’s got pain/blurred vision he’d have to come off. I doubt he feigned injury but I guess people are frustrated and he’s an easy target today.

Weird comments. The guy went off. None of you have any clue about his injury yet all jumping to the worst conclusion.

    Strange.

It’s almost like some people on this thread have a direct line to the medical team.

I have no reason to stick up for the guy but he certainly wasn’t our worst player up to that point and if anything he offered us more than others. The way he walked round the pitch seemed like he was in pain or had an issue with eye.

A gorgeous through pass for the first goal doesn't excuse his lacklustre performance. Offered even less than Hourihane managed to. Zero movement, zero desire to take the ball and drive forward with it.

Maybe I'm being harsh but besides his passing range (which isn't always perfect) I do not see what he offers.

I feel a bit sorry for him as his AVFC career has been stop start through injury.

We are blessed with dare I say quite a strong CM/AM core of the team right now but Lansbury defo has something to offer. He has the ability to move the ball forward quicker than someone like CH, Lansbury has a bit of zip in his passing and I think is always looking to be positive.

I thought he played well tonight alongside Dougie, CH the weaker of the 3.

cant see Lansbury starting any time soon but feel he is a healthy option off the bench and in fairness his goal (disallowed) v Palace showed the perfect type of situation for him to come on and try get us something from a game.

He tend to do crucial mistakes when he plays in that position.

I want him as a box to box.

Nakamba is nailed on in that dm spot.

Granted he made a mistake but to say he had a stinker is absurd.

hes got talent and will be a big asset to us. Has a nice zip in his passes.

    Having a shocker tonight.

    Really???

bar the mistake for the goal he was easily one of our best players - you can tell he has a touch of class about him.

Last time we were in the Premier League Jack was an inconsistent, precocious youngster, who most regarded as being in danger of wasting his talent.

First 18 months in the Championship he was good, but not amazing, then the second 18 months he was pretty much the best player in the Championship.

Now people expect him to be at his very best week in week out in a Premier League that has improved exponentially in the past 3 years. Overall, he is heavily involved in many of the positive things we do, and has also been at fault for some of our failings.

However he is still a very young player and still learning, and as the captain and key player of one of the biggest clubs in the world, he is doing an amazing job. What other player out there has had to contend with this?

Yes, he probably needs to be more vocal as captain, and he's not above reproach, but given all of the above he's doing an incredible job and will only continue to improve.

Fans just need to be a bit more patient with him.

I kind of disagree - he’s not exactly “very young” 24 years old and been in English football for 5 years (hardly a rookie) and we are not asking him to be the best in the league. As a fan base we are happy to tell the country how good a player he is and how he should be in England team, with this kind of talk I’m not sure it’s too much expectation that against ten men in the previous two games we should expect him to control the game. Regardless to what anyone says this simply hasn’t happened.

I rate Jack a lot but let’s me fair, we idolise him when he plays well but when he’s been below expectations we are allowed to voice our opinion.

  9. I’m pretty sure people about to come at me but ahwell - I seriously think Grealish could/should be doing better. Yes he has unequalled quality with regards to being our best technical and most skilful player however we should be getting more from him.

everyone is clamouring for him to be playing for England and I too feel he is more than capable but I think it is this desire from him that is slightly having a negative impact. We can all clearly see he is trying ever so hard and I can’t fault his effort but I think this is slightly to the detriment of the team.

For a player we hold to such a high level and one who we have so much expectancy of I’m sorry but against ten men he should be controlling the game. Monday night we panicked against ten men, Jack included, as our “star” man and now “leader” he should be taking the game by the scruff of the neck and controlling the midfield and not panic, time and time again he made the wrong decision Monday and was sloppy in possession.

the same can be said today, first half he was pretty hopeless and gave the ball away numerous times, watching the game live you can clearly see his desire but his decision making was off. Yes he did excellent for our second goal but again against ten men I would expect jack to dictate the game but second half we were passed around which is dissapointing.

we all know Jack is a brilliant player so please don’t think this is anti Jack post but surely people must see that we could/should be getting a lot more from him. Just because he is a good player dosent also mean he gets a free pass for a poor performance. Right now  Mginn looks to have made the step up to PL a little easier than Jack.

    Up the Villa.

If neither Jota or El Ghazi finds their feet in the PL and struggle to make an impact. I wouldn't mind giving him a go out wide. He usually does very well whenever he drifts into the wide areas. Could be Snodgrass 2.0

Not a way to manage your squad moving players out of position - weakens the overall team.

  11. Hi guys, not sure if the correct place to post but ahwell. I got myself a single ticket for spurs away so travelling on own. Anyone got any advice how to beat get to the game from Birmingham? I’m planning on driving and catching a train/tube in. Any recommendations on best possible route to take? Cheers

Brilliant goal, he showed better touch today. Once he relaxes a bit he should look better.

I think ‘brilliant’ is a bit over the top. Good to see him score but doubt he will see many if any minutes in the premier league.

his overall game is way below where we need it to be if we are to be competitive this year.

really could do with a long spell away from the club in a team competing in the championship to see if he can cut it.
