Honestly, a 1-0 loss to Arsenal right now would not be a terrible result.

    (As mad as that sounds)

That does sound mad. We would be below Bournemouth and they could go on and beat Everton.

Everything is great in hindsight isnt it.  Traits of Douglas Luiz was pointed at him for reasons why he was poor at the start of the season but everybody forgets that now he's playing well.  People suddenly remember they saw a footballer in Luiz even back then yet were probably criticising him then, I know this website were and even I was critical of him at times.  Suddenly now everybody forgets that, we always knew he was a talent.........just rosy hindsight memories.

Whether Samatta becomes good over time is a different story, to criticise him now so much about him overall is silly.  Game by game, it's fine but to say he's a poor signing is just silly because he's barely been in the club and thrown head first into a poor team and a lockdown pandemic.

We absolutely can say poor signing! He was bought to score goals and keep us up. He’s returned 1 goal and we are likely to go down. He hasn’t done the job asked of him. Poor signing.

because he's only just joined from a foreign league and then thrown straight into a poor team that dont create many chances and then thrown in a pandemic lockdown.  The bloke's feet have only just touched the ground and you are swiping his legs away already.  Yes we needed a settled scoring striker from the start but that isnt his fault.  Is he poor in one game? yes, maybe but is he poor overall? we are yet to know because it's far too early.  Douglas Luiz got a lot of criticism early on but now since the restart he's been superb now after settling and people are worried he's leaving yet  six months ago very few would have been bothered.

In no way can you compare him to Douglas Luiz, even at the start of season it was very clear there was a footballer in him.

Samatta job is to score goals. I can only judge him on what I’ve seen.

    constantly offside.

    awful touch

    poor runs

Heading ability bar LCF poor. Doesn’t impose himself on defenders.  Poor signing.

Yeah let’s all beat him up like Wes, this site is pathetic sometimes when these kind of comments are posted on the message board.

Why?? For not pretending all is rosie in the garden? Calling out a player for being poor is allowed.

Man United 2nd goal v us, yes was Mings error but that only comes about because the ball comes into the box and Samatta bumbles around with it in the first place. Poor player who we have carried.

Or, entered a new country and league just a few months ago. Was faced with a pandemic within 2 months which left him self isolating. Never had chance to settle. Needs some time before we totally write him off.

By the way he really does not look miserable. Far from it. He seems like a great character. Ridiculous thing to pull him up on. He is also a Champions League regular and thus a year in the Championship probably doesn’t worry him too much.

As long as the championship doesn’t worry him then I guess that’s ok? Or maybe that there lies the problem, he can’t believe his luck that he’s playing for a team as big as Villa?

He was signed to try keep us in the league yet we are carrying him every game. I appreciate new league, language can be tough however that has no influence when he’s missing headers so badly and not even hitting the target.

His touch looks hopeless and his run behind the defence even worse. Don’t get me wrong I hope he comes good in the Championship but think he’s been a disaster tbh.

Basically a one legged quarter final.

Lose against Everton and we are out of the competition.

More like a first leg of a semifinal - win the first leg, draw the second then beat West Ham ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

  7. people on here saying overturning 4 points in 3 games is too much are purely saying that as a coping mechanism. With the fixtures falling the way they have it’s 100% achievable.

What we need to do is take care of our business, something we have been pathetic at doing all season, but the past year counts for nothing if we can just string 3 results together. I just pray that the boys come good I feel there is optimism in the squad and they can do it. Come on the boys!!!

I don't think we will have any control over him. If someone wants to pay enough they can negotiate with Man City to buy him.

Not sure that’s true in the slightest.

  9. Very very good again. Intercepted some big plays. Can move the ball forward quickly too. Whatever the outcome of this season we need to keep him. He could be the lynchpin in the middle when jack goes.

We are all excited to see Villa win.

You need to stop this non sense thinking there is an agenda and thinking some fans hope to see Villa to lose.

That's ridiculous. We all want to stay up.

Completely agreed .the original post is very bizarre.

I’ve believed we didn’t sign enough experience, but the latter issue was the club was never ready to be promoted to then PL.

I believe if we keep the nucleus of this team and sign some experienced players, we will bounce straight back and be better prepared for PL. These players will be better and they will be a better team with another 50 games under their belts.

Smith deserves to be part of this, but I want to see us automatically promoted.

Problem is we know we won’t keep the nucleus of a team. Right now I’d expect Middlesbrough to be stronger than us in the championship next season. We will literally be back to square one with fewer weeks to prepare.

You obviously haven’t thought that through!

What an easy way to get one over on your rivals.  I’ll just get me and my mates and family to dress up as our opposition team, that’s a guaranteed 10 wins for the Villa.

Where do we end up in the league with 55 points? 😂😂😂

I swear VillaLad is a troll 😂 never seen as much nonsense from one user than this guy

If a lot of fans are showing up outside the stadiums punish the club by awarding the win to the opposition.

I'm sure they'll get the message then and stay home next time.

Ridiculous!! - you’d have a situation where rival fans would turn up pretending to be supporters of Aston Villa etc or other clubs. Be even more caotic.

Blues fans or Sheffield United fans For eg. wearing Villa shirts outside VP. Crazy idea!!

    We beat Liverpool under Lambert.

Do you remember that back heel pass from Benteke to Weimann? That was a great moment for the club! And that was at Anfield!

Winning away against Liverpool. That's a decent achievement

You probably forgot the times he use to panic, zero  clue with formations lumpInt 5 attackers up top all standing 5 yards from one another. Long balls aimed hopelessly.

a personal favourite moment of his tenure was the Bradford debacle.

if your getting excited about one game v Liverpool then kinda strange.

I expected us to be more competitive tbh.

In many games we simply haven't turned up and been outworked. That's not acceptable.

We fail to do the basics. Most goals conceded from set pieces and it doesn't seem to be addressed.

It's been as bad as we've seen under Lambert this season if not worse.

Have a day off - we might have been bad but no way as bad as under Lambert.

We’ve been naive yes, spurs, arsenal, liverpool etc playing well but getting nothing from it.

Yes we have been poor Southampton and Bournmouth  and likes of Brighton and West Ham at home but we’ve played well at times and come up short.

a promoted team will always swing from good performances to bad ones due to inconsistent teams hence being a relegation threatened team but to say we’ve been worse than some of the lambert stuff I fail to see.

I should add that the same driver claimed to be a Villa fanatic and said he had dropped a couple of players off (wouldn't name them) at Bodymoor Heath recently and said that when he asked about the possibility of Grealish leaving they were both of the opinion it wouldn't be a bad thing because he's a see you next Tuesday.

I found it a bit hard to believe that pro players wouldn't drive themselves to their training centre, assuming it's even open.

Sounds like the driver is having you on

Actually it does, Newcastle twice in recent history and West Ham came back first time of asking.

We won't though, it'll be another difficult and horrendous time for us if we go down again because we never do anything easily.

I would hardly say either them have re grouped and  come back a success. Newcastle now have optimism with likely new owners but their team is just as bad as ours and they dislike Bruce - except for a few fortunate wins they could easily be fighting relegation and West Ham utter shambles too.

Took us three years last time and look how far behind the rest of the PL now after spending 140m.  That also included having some quality loans signings to get us up.  Nah, I think it’ll be a disaster to go down. Always sounds great, rebuilding with talent and all that but it’s a slog, very hard and not nice.

Agreed - this notion of starting again is a coping mechanism strategy.

Sounds great but in reality never happens like that - just a way for people to kid themselves and try to feel better about life.

In no way to I want to go back to the swamp of the EFL again. This would make me angrier than the previous relegation as I truly believe we would have every right to be aggrieved. VAR truly F’d us in many games along with a scandalous decision away at palace and then to not have played 38 games would be unjust. Yes we have been very naive in many matches and Smith has made some bad calls but to go down this year I’d be very aggrieved.
