  1. Something I've noticed this year, is when we are attacking, our pitch awareness in the final third is generally poor.  For instance, Ollie's goal was a beautiful strike...  but if he's aware of his surroundings and where his fellow attacking teammates are, he probably lays that off to Bailey who was WIDE open for an easy goal.  There have been other instances including Cash's beauty against Everton as Bailey was also wide open far post.  Plenty of other examples of that where the results didn't end in goals and those are obviously the more important ones.  I'm sure that's something that Gerrard and the rest of the staff will try to improve.  If they do we are bound to score more goals because the opportunities are there, we're just not always seeing it.  Not sure if anyone else agrees.

  2. The consistency hasn't been there...  but he's absolutely a game breaker.  Almost had a worldie to make it 3-0 at the end.  Holding out hope that he really starts to emerge.  I'd like to see him in the starting XI next week.  Give Buendia another run, Watkins up top, Ings on the bench to start.

  3. Big problem with both his performance, and his attitude.  Looked like he was going to cry when he was pulled off.  If he was pissed he got pulled he can only be pissed at himself... only good play I can recall all game was the one touch to send Ings in.  Bailey should take that spot to start next week for sure.

  4. Awesome start to the half... poor finish to the half.  Let's see what moves SG makes.  Curious when we'll see the first change and who it's going to be.  I'd take Buendia out and put Bailey in...  also wouldn't mind Carney coming in for Nakamba and changing the shape slightly.  VP was super quiet at the end there...  imagine the nervousness of the crowd is going to continue to be felt more and more...  hopefully we can get an early goal to get it rocking and roaring.

  5. I'm excited... and I'm nervous.  Huge 90 coming up.  Don't love the midfield...  Nakamba starting is always going to be an issue for me but I'll trust SG.  Hoping Carney and Leon are two of the subs.  LETS GO BOYS!

Interesting training video. Gerrard looks heavily involved. Great to see Trez back. Beale has got a right gut on him.

Haha just said this in the Beale thread.  Dude's got an absolute keg.

  7. I'm pretty excited.  Can't wait to see the energy that's going to be reverberating around Villa Park next weekend.  Place will go absolutely nuts with a few goals pumped in and a W for Stevie G's first match and then we'll be off and running.

There was a (dreadful) series (and films??) back in the day called “Carry On [ ]” (so for example, Carry On Camping). It was filled with innuendo and that bloke in that photo was played by Kenneth Williams and would make that face and say “oh matron” if such an innuendo was said.

You’ll see it a lot on here. For example “Bailey keeps pulling out” or “Cash is putting his balls in too deep” would be met with the image of Kenneth Williams.

It was well before my time but I think I got all that right??

Haha, that's hilarious.  Thank you for the explanation.

    Welcome American friendo!

Its ok, use whatever words you want, but if you use words like "stud", you will quickly get these types of responses:

    (apologies, its our English humour...)

Haha thanks...  can you explain to me why that is?  Enlighten me on the English humor.

did someone just use the word "Stud" in a sentence on the VT forum?

Where are all the Kenneth gifs.......

Haha...  apologies.... as you can see I'm new here and an American...  if stud is an outlawed term I sincerely apologize and will make sure to choose my words better next time.

I’m looking forward to the first interview, about the vision, and the ambition of the club. I imagine that’s one of the biggest attractions for him, alongside continuing the good ground work already started.

He’s coming in at a great time, where the training ground and academy work is going well. The squad overhaul is good and some tweaks needed to kick on.

I’m excited to see the impact he has and his squad improvements in January and beyond.

Not my first choice but I’ll 100% get behind him. Looking forward to the Brighton game.

My excitement is slowly growing.  Young up and coming manager...  former stud player who will garner respect from the squad immediately and be attractive for recruitment efforts.  His coaching staff (Beale) has been made to sound quite strong.  I was not a Smith out guy but nonetheless I'm excited about what could come with this move if he is indeed the guy.

i think we need to accept that we're not going to like the new manager on a personal level based on who's just left. maybe we need a prick of a manager? was deano too nice?

I think that's what makes it all the more challenging in finding his successor...  even though the majority came calling for his head the last few weeks... Dean was still an extremely well liked manager and just simply a good person.

  13. This hire HAS to be right.  Has to be.  This is a huge moment for NSWE et al....  I'll be honest I'm nervous.  You're inheriting a club that has lost its star player, brought in 3 relatively pricey players, 5 straight losses, looking dysfunctional and fragile....  not an easy task whatsoever.
