    Wasn't that given as handball?

No because he was in the middle of a two footed lunge which was out of control so he didn't mean it so when he landed the west ham player had left the ball in the way of the defender's arm so it was his fault really.

  2. I feel like we're running out of steam tbh.  The small squad means we don't really have different tools to help the team out when we need it.  The performances in the last two games have seemed a bit more laboured, obviously no criticism but just my opinion.  Will need a Newcastle type performance to take the points in this one but can't see us hitting that level looking at the last two.

Not an easy watch but I a win against a side that clearly had no intention of trying to win the game. One shot off target in the first minute for the whole game tells me we were fully in control from start to finish. With a tired team and a bare bones squad 26 points out of 30 is pretty impressive and some wins will be like Newcastle others will be more like last night.

Also on the way home I had the misfortune of listening to Jason cundy saying how Tyrone mings wasn’t international standard and he has an error a game in him (like maguire doesn’t have 3 or 4 a game) can anyone remember in this last run of ten games or even since emery came, in a mistake? I think he has been near perfect since gerrard went.

Yes, I was listening too.  Clearly has watched MOTD once about a year ago and made is opinions

This ties up the top 4 - unless Man Utd have a meltdown.

Spurs and Liverpool players aren't going to break themselves to play in the Europa conference. Ours and Brighton's will.
We have a chance at 5th, but am now expecting us to finish at wort 7th, ahead of Spurs. We have this in our own hands given how many of us have to play each other, and we play 2 of these at home.

Just want Brighton to win today and make the FA Cup final, which hopefully will make the last game of the season an easier one for us (couple of heavy early challenges will do it, I reckon 😉)

If Brighton win the fa cap, you'll need 6th for Europe won't you?

We looked better with the substitutions, particularly the crossing from both Digne and Chambers. Might even have knicked all 3 points at the end.

We have got 2 good but very different options now at lb. A pacey winger type who will beat a man and cross from the byline or a whip it in from deep maybe slightly more defensive option (as he's deeper when delivering the ball rather than being all the way up the pitch). Good way to change things around mid-game

A good point in retrospect. I don't want to berate any of our players, but you could definitely sense the nerves amongst the back 4 once Martinez went off. It felt like it gave Brentford a bit more of a spring in their step too. We did well to get back into it though - we would've lost that game quite heavily under previous leadership.

I think it'll give us a good kick up the backside ahead of Tuesday. We can't get carried away with a single performance (good or bad).

Yes and no.  We were bad all over the pitch with emi in goal.  We definitely lose some composure in our backline when Olssen is in goal tho.

Good point and I wished I had thought of Bailey in my comments a few pages back as an example.  I loved him at his previous club and was delighted/ecstatic we signed him but hasn’t looked a tenth of that player we brought since.  I think we’ll buy a mix of PL experience and foreign based players in the summer because it makes sense from a risk perspective but like the rest of us we have no idea what Emery/Club are going to do.

I think the most important trait Emery will look for is players he knows will fit the system and take instruction or be able to be coached into his system.  Players he's worked with before would surely be a good place to start.  Players like Zaha etc can't see happening for instance
