I only have a casual interest in American football, what team would Villa be most like?
Very hard to make a comparison...maybe the Detroit Lions. Traditional team, industrial city, haven't won much in a long time...
I'd go with the Bears rather than the Lions.
Hell, the Lions were the worst team in NFL history 3 years ago. Villa has never been a punching bag.

First of all, please never compare me to the Blows fans again.
What I do not understand is why are Browns fans so pissed off with us in all of this?Same reason most Villa fans hated Lerner for being in Cleveland so much.
Neither fanbase was happy with Randy. It just so happens that the Browns had a year like Villa had last year for nearly 13 straight years.
That being said, yes, we all have our share of the ignorant. Not all Browns fans immediately associate soccer with "fags". But then again, seeing that I am an American, I guess that doesn't shock me as much. Soccer, and like wise the fans, take a lot of flak over here.
I wish I could explain it more, but I don't feel like writing an entire thesis paper on it.

Just so we are clear, it's 700 million now, 300 million later.
Deal cannot be fully completed until the NFL approves of the sale.

any news on randy selling the browns?
I've followed the Browns' version of Kendrick, and it seems the following is the situation:
Randy will be selling 70% for $920 million, and the sale will go through in October. Pretty much a done deal seemingly.
Close enough, although recent reports are saying that it's more likely going to be done before the beginning of the NFL season. (Sept 9th)
-
Just so we are clear, the reported number so far is that the current buyer is providing $920 million. There are rumors of some more people buying off the other shares too.

BTW, the Browns cannot be sold until October 2012, due to Al LernerMight have been wanting to sell for a while then but just couldn't do so?
Quite likely.
He has never been a meddlesome owner. He was the reluctant owner who had this dumped on him when his father died. This has been on the books since late Spring, so he's obviously had thoughts about this for a long time.
Also, Democrats have recently introduce a bill to raise the Death Tax to 45%. Another good reason to sell the team now.

BTW, the Browns cannot be sold until October 2012, due to Al Lerner's moratorium on not allowing Randy to sell the team for ten years after his death.

Well I can't find anything that suggests he is selling up - although he may of course be - could you share the extra info that makes you so sure?Looking at what has actually been said, I think it is very premature to make any assumptions (a) about what will actually happen and ( whether it's good news for Villa. At the moment, if he's in talks with a very rich person to bring new investment into the Browns, isn't that better news for them? I'd rather he was seeking extra investment input for Villa.
When he receives nearly a billion for all his shares, then he'll have more disposable income.
This is no long in the "premature assumption" stage. Randy Lerner has begun the process. He will not be the owner of the Browns much longer.
Even if...you still have to make the assumption that he will put his extra disposable income into Villa and doing that with a club for which he hasn't been getting a great return on his initial investment may not look like very good business.
Look at Tony Grossi's twitter. He's been the Browns beat reporter for 30 years.
Several other sports outlets, like ProFootballTalk, have been reporting the same thing.
And I actually think this is more motivated to refill the family coffers. I don't think we should expect a 30 million player brought in anytime soon.

Forbes recently said that the Browns should be sold for about $900 million.
-
...Huh....well...there is that...
-
Nervous on the reason he is selling. Is it because he hasn't brought success? Is it because he hasn't really loved owning it? or is it, more worryingly, is the Lerner well running dry after divorces, BOA share drop etc?
I don't think Lerner can manage owning two professional sports teams in two different countries. Both fan bases bitch about having an absentee owner.
Also, he didn't buy the Browns. I don't think he loved owning the Browns, yet I also don't think he hated the money he made on the Browns either.
-
It's too bad the local guy couldn't make us a real contender.
I thought Randy was from Brooklyn?
His father was a huge philanthropist and supporter of Cleveland and the Browns. And Lerner spent some time here and was a huge Browns fan.
-
Lucky browns fans.
How are the browns fans reacting to the news ohiovilla?
The majority of Browns fans do not like Lerner, since he has been a failure since he took the team after his father died.
That being said, the new guy is a minority owner in the Pittsburgh Steelers, so there is some natural fan resistance to that as the Browns and Steelers are basically the Sty vs Villa of the NFL. As a Browns fan myself, I would say that losing a billionaire owner is never a good idea, yet I don't think Randy understood American Football at all. It's too bad the local guy couldn't make us a real contender.
BTW, in case you are curious, the Browns are worth about $800 million, and I'm sure that Lerner will also make a profit. So it's understandable if Lerner was interested in selling it all off. It's too bad he couldn't do what his father wanted him to do, but I think it's time to move on.
-
Just seen on Twitter that Lerner is in negotiations to sell Cleveland Browns, possibly more investment for Villa perhaps?
I'd imagine a billion dollars into Lerner's pocket would make cash a little more loose.
-
Also, it helps living in Cleveland.
-
It's all over the media here in the states.
And while he is saying "investment" we have several ITK's that are saying he will be the majority owner of the Cleveland Browns.
-
Just so you fellas know, breaking news, Randy Lerner is selling the Browns.
-
Randy Lerner owns the Browns.
Brad Friedel is from my hometown.
Fairly easy choice for me.

Would be very good paired up with Bent, methinks.

I dont know about much but im surprised that mighty banner in the first picture did not do the trick!
The comma instead of an apostrophe is certainly a different take on...any type of grammar.
I bet you are a right laugh at a party,
Grammar talk is a panties dropper.

I heard Laursen was just named Commander of Allied Forces in Europe. Boring appointment.

Fast, skilled, great mentality.

When a team coached by Sam Allardyce is more threatening to you, then it's a bad thing.
On the other hand, it probably should have been a 0-0 draw, but really we would not have deserved it. Lambert has work to do.
