  1. This 'more or less' subs argument cannot be proven either way and as such is a pretty pointless debate as is what's Jack's best position?

For now I'm just enjoying the great season we've had so far.

    In Deano I trust!

Jack gets fouled beyond belief every game.....we need on good header of the ball, to join our squad, to take advantage of the free kicks....like Soucek and Vestergaard do.

we have to work so hard, for our goals.

I think we've done well this season in spreading the goals around without the need to change too much. Could do with a good DM though if we can find a decent one. Someone in the Viera,  Yaya Toure, Nzonzi mould would be good IMO

  3. What an absolutely fantastic back 5 we now have.  Each and everyone one of them are least worth double than what we paid for them!

Doing a quick calculation I thing we paid less for all 5 of them than Manure paid for Harry MaGuire which is truly incredible!

I think this is the key thing for me. We’re not in a position where there’s pressure to buy. If the right player is available at the right price then fine. Otherwise we can go with what we have and get those right players in when they’re available.

Agree 100%.  Patience is important. Buying, for buyings sake is no longer necessary. Every player we buy now has to be better or at least equal to what we already have. 2 more summer transfer windows should really see us competing at the top.

I think our game is now much less reliant on a typical ' striker ' than people realise.

Fully agree with this. We've got plenty in the team who are capable of scoring (seen it all season). There's no pressure to buy or loan a striker at this stage of our development IMO

Well no more incomings will just be players leaving.

Find it incredible we are not looking at another striker. If ollie gets injured we are stuffed

It's not 11pm on Monday yet!

2 players out today (Lansbury and Guilbert) has got me thinking!

Barkley is only good when we are on the front foot. When we are defending hes nowhere to be seen and his overall defense contribution is poor.

People seem to love to poke Traore with the 'didn't track back again' mantra like he can teleport back in defense and help Cash out just like that yet Barkley does it every game and gets away with it. It's also a reason why Mcginn or Douglas never move away from the middle to help the full backs defend because they cant leave it undefended when in reality Barkley should be there for them to move out to the sides.

Completely agree with this. I don't see Barkley as a 'team player'. I noticed him barely running in the 2nd half and he completely pulled out of 2 tackles he could easily have won.

I see similarities with him and how Darren Bent used to play in that he only comes to life when he has the ball and he's lazy without it!

Agree was harsh for him to be dropped, but when he's come on has looked totally anonymous. Several times yesterday was given the ball in promising atracks and he lost posession every time.

tbf...he wasn't on the pitch for very long! Very little time to get into the pace of the game. It's always difficult coming with very few minutes left to play

  9. Firstly, thank you for allowing me to join Villa Talk.

I am a longstanding Villa fan (since 1959). My first Villa game coincided with the great Jonny Dixon's last game in a claret and blue shirt.  I have (so far) managed to see Villa play in 54 league grounds (including both grounds that Cardiff City have played in). I have also seen Villa play in Germany, Belgium and of course in Holland (Rotterdam 82)!

I have had many favourite players over the 62 years. Colin Withers, Charlie Aitken, Alex Cropley, Andy Gray from the 60s, 70s.  Cowan's, Withe, Shaw, Rimmer from the 80s. Merson,  Bosnich, Taylor, McGrath from the 90s ( there are too many to name). Getting a bit more up to date I love watching Jack, Alan Hutton (for his loyalty and professionalism. I'm really enjoying the way we are playing under Dean Smith....playing to win and entertaining at the same time (not too many managers) manage to achieve both!

Best wishes to fellow Villans around the globe.
