JJ left, Zaniolo right and Diaby behind Watkins/Duràn is our strongest I reckon. That does make it a very difficult choice as to who partners Luiz though. With McGinn being captain it would seem hard to believe he won't play but he won't start in the Kamara role. Hmmmm.

I think SJM was brilliant on the right for us, kept the ball really well and turned into midfield to ping some great passes. Zaniolo is class but right now I see him as the perfect impact player.

Konsa is option at RB like I said weeks ago. I don't pigeonhole players rigidly to a position like some on here want to do and I doubt Emery does either. Does that answer your questions?

Not really, I understand players can play different positions but if you want a backup to each spot then we are short. My question is would you get a RB or another CB knowing Konsa can move over if required.

Konsa was great today. Emery played RB not pushing forward last season. Konsa can do that.

So are you saying we are fine with 7 defenders or you think we will play Konsa at RB and get another CB? Or will keep taking players from DM to cover if needed?

My concern on his highlights videos is they often have him beating a man, doing some amazing skill, playing a pass… and then cut to the next highlight, so you can tell the pass didn’t end up where it was meant to go! But I try not to judge a player on highlights vids - for example maybe his off the ball work is way better than Bailey, I couldn’t tell you as I’ve never watched him play a full game. I also don’t think at the price quoted (versus if he was £50m) he needs to be a worldbeater - if he’s only actually at the level of Bailey, Buendia etc but it means when we make a sub we have one of them coming on vs Traore or Duran, that’s squad improvement.

He was in the top 10 wingers in the top leagues for carries that resulted in a shot or chance created.

  5. The most frustrating tonight was Buendia, I like him but what’s the point of patient build up if he’s just gonna push a low percentage pass time after time. It’s obviously an important position for what Unai wants to achieve so a better passer with the ability to ride a challenge is necessary IMO.

  6. Whilst no Watkins/Ings fan I think we can wait another year for our striker. If we get the midfielder we need this season then realistically the only position we will need to upgrade next season is striker, and then we can throw a big chunk of change at someone who has everything rather than someone who is slightly better than what we hav.

Thinking about potential strikers that would improve us. Lautaro Martinez (24) would be nice but probably cost about 80-90m. Patrick Schick (26) another option, would be cheaper I guess and looks a right unit up front (clinical too)

I also quite like the look of Evanilson (22) at Porto.

    Another others?

Gouiri at Nice is more of a wide forward if we went down that route, Malen at Dortmund is the same. Perhaps supporting Coutinho out wide. Gouiri/Malen l, Watkins and Bailey might be tasty

Not convinced with the likes of Osimhen, Danjuma, Cunha

    Benjamin Sesko?

Funny how people are writing him off on here when he's injured. Kicking a man whilst he's down
Also funny people saying "he doesn't fit gerrards system" when Gerrard keeps playing Ings and Watkins together

We lack pace in our attack. Bailey is the man to sort this out.

Exactly, the guy has blistering pace, a great dribble and can finish, like those abilities don’t translate to different plans. He played on both sides and up front in Germany so has proven his versatility.

By the sounds of it your Mrs is better at keeping a clean sheet than Martinez

She’s very good at breaking up any promising moves, she’s Emi so I must be Keinan Davis

Groundbreaking stuff from McPhee. Swing it into middle, someone try and get the heid on it and someone try bundle it in off your cock or groin. The man is a messiah….lol

If he can draw up plays for my cock or groin to score then he truly will be the messiah

    We’ve really looked good.

Anyone else noticed how much better we are when we don’t have the ball this season? We just seem more organised with the press and a lot fitter.

Sanson was actually looking good before he went off. Tuanzebe, Traore and Cash also impressed.

I really do like a 4-3-3 formation. We get to see more of our wingers!

We seem much better at getting the foot in and actually winning the ball
