Someone tell Diaby he’s very close to the goal n might want to hav a shot one day

Weak as piss

Told myself at the start of the season I would be as positive as possible this year, it’s getting harder but it’s definitely preferable to telling our team that wasn’t expecting to do much this year that being 4th and being in a European semi means we are bottlers etc.
most of us knew in January we were short in midfield and right back, so its no surprises what’s happening now, and is a totally reasonable excuse for what’s happening now.

Luiz has crashed deeper and deeper into horror as the season has gone on. any explanation that makes sense to me, borders on slander so I'll keep them to myself.
And the problem is he doesn’t seem that fussed by it, always looking to point at someone else

We start so passive it gives the opposition confidence, we have seen it so often this year why is it still such a problem? 37 attacks to our 18, and we’re still playing in second gear
-
So many times we took one too many touches when there was a man unmarked on the wing for the release, but let’s keep perspective guys, last time I looked we were best in the league at not dropping points when leading.

Rewatching the game I was very impressed with his tackling and how he (along with others) was much better at cutting out the thru balls, huge improvement.

It's hard not to have a claret and blue googles on, but the amount of games I see Luiz pulled up for a foul for what seems like very little, yet I see him man handled, grabbed, pushed down and get nothing over and over and over.
Unfortunately he wears the fouls, gets frustrated and commits a very obvious get-even tackle and gets carded for it.

And at least twice he outpaced their winger and cleared the ball. Then we won 2-0. Enjoy it dude.
No problems with his defending, but like I said left side is attacking and he’s been looking Cash-esque, lots of energy but disappointing end product. He was so dangerous last season, one of our main creators.

Moreno was good defensively, don't see the problem with him. Rogers did more than we have seen so far, he is looking promising. Duran's energy was great. Just so pleased with the squad in this one.
Twice I remember Moreno was unmarked with a couple in the box and he missed them by a mile. Our left is the attacking side, the LB needs to be able to create.

Why isnt Digne starting? At least he can get a cross in, Moreno looks toothless.
And he’s so one footed he’s continuously going back inside, missing runs down the line

We have been out scoring teams all year, taking it to the big boys.
Then in the last two games we set up and played equal opposition like we were petrified and would be lucky to escape with a draw. What happened?

Afraid I blame Unai, treating them like Barca and playing 5 at the back instead of going for the throat

He pulled his shirt...foul all day mate
While the ball bounced right in front of him, had all day to clear it

This is some ridiculous trajectory.
He is genuinely impressing me now.
His intelligence seems to have exploded.
Has he been working with a new coach?
Little spins, stepovers and skips to get away.
His finishing and accuracy is crisp.
His positioning, his pace.
He is scoring all types of goals as well.
We potentially ( If not already ) have a World Class striker on our hands.
It’s his non-touches that impress me now, if that makes sense.

I’ve always loved tricky wingers and Leon is doing some insanely skilled moves atm, absolute joy to watch.

How come we can never seem to get Diaby away down the wing on a counter? He’s the quickest on the pitch but we cannot release him.

I made my brother in law start supporting us 10 years ago, as he’s a mad Bayern fan he struggled to gel with the team and would get up me for waking him up at 2am to watch us lose once more.
Now he still loves Bayern but admits he enjoys Villa games much more because of the terrible memories of the recent past and the amazing vibe of a sleeping giant waking up.

We’ve all learnt not to write off a signing too soo though.
And vice versa, I remember being very impressed with Barkley in his first few games.

Very slow passing again

At times his hold up play is so good you do wonder could he play centre forward
Thought it served us well outlet-wise having Diaby on one side with his pace and Zaniolo on the other with his strength, they looked like having no chance of muscling him off the ball.

To think we could hav had Fresneda for 9 mil

JJ left, Zaniolo right and Diaby behind Watkins/Duràn is our strongest I reckon. That does make it a very difficult choice as to who partners Luiz though. With McGinn being captain it would seem hard to believe he won't play but he won't start in the Kamara role. Hmmmm.
I think SJM was brilliant on the right for us, kept the ball really well and turned into midfield to ping some great passes. Zaniolo is class but right now I see him as the perfect impact player.

I thought we would be f*£n lethal on the counter with Gabby and Andi Weimann

Put Watkins on the left and Duran up front?
