Somehow didn’t make the ludicrous XI, despite being the best keeper.

I expect four new signings in to next seasons first choice XI. Right back, two midfielders and a support striker/winger. Based on rumours of who we’ve been linked with, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us line up like this next season (not seen any tangible links to defenders, so left that blank):
———————Martinez———————
RB ——Carlos——Mings——Moreno
Guendouzi—Kamara—Doug—Pote
————Williams——Watkins————
And when with the ball:
———————Martinez———————
——RB———Carlos———Mings——
—————Kamara—Doug—————
————Guendouzi——Pote————
Williams——————————Moreno
———————Watkins———————
Who says no?

Just won a penalty for Rovers, which was dispatched by Sinclair. Lovely stuff.

Watched Otavio on Wednesday against Inter. He was a deplorable cheating word removed, and got sent off. Sign him up.

Also had a sly did at FFP and Man City. Good lad.

Spoke to a Boro fan about where he’ll fit in, and it’s most likely that he’ll compete with McGree on the left, however this role plays more like a 10 than a traditional winger. Hoping this works out both our boys there! They’ve been given the number 10 and 11 shirts, so no pressure lads!

What a dumb rule then
Why is it a dumb rule? You only want it to apply for English players? How bizarre.
-
Should also be noted that Dembele would be homegrown, due to his time at Fulham, another plus point to signing him.
-
Probably there to look at N Williams after trying to sign him.

I rather fancy there's some truth to the rumored interest in Dumfries, he, Guendouzi, Kang-in, Sarr, and Thuram would be good. Have a feeling the striker we sign might end up being a surprise name, maybe one that hasn't been mentioned.
No chance Dumfries leaves Inter for a team not in the Champions League. He’s also not the sort of right back that Emery would want, he’s defensively frail.

Can those who think it's a poor signing explain why? I'm genuinely confused. Vast majority of us haven't seen much of him, so all we can really go by is Fbref and WhoScored.
At his time at Lyon, in Ligue 1, he's had an xG of 56.2, and scored 55. That doesn't seem too bad? Ings' xG for us was 12.9 and he scored 13, so we're not talking about a huge difference. Ings has only scored more than 12 goals in a top flight once in his career, and is 31 in the summer, where as Dembele has managed it three times, and is 27 in the summer.
Dembele's average rating for Lyon in Ligue 1 over the five seasons is 6.89 for all appearances, and 7.09 for just those games he started in. By contrast, Ings' average rating for us is 6.61 in the Premier League in all appearances, and 6.82 in just starts. Sure, Dembele was playing for a better team in a worse league, but those two variables aren't big enough to explain such a big discrepancy? It also matches the eye test, when Ings didn't score or contribute, quite a few times it was as if we were playing with a man down.
I really don't get the apathy, or even disappointment of this transfer? Of course it could happen, and it doesn't work out, but if that's the case it'll be a far cheaper mistake than Ings' move, or even Wesley, heaven forbid.
I'm 100% on board with this potential move, I think he's just what we need as a different option up front, and think he'll be a far better player up top than Watkins is.

Inter - my wife’s team. Been over to San Siro quite a few times. Watch all of their matches. Managed to see them in the Champions League against Barcelona which was quite something for a Villa fan in his early 30s.
Cambridge United - my local team, and got loads of close friends who support them.

Make it happen. He’s also homegrown as he was at Fulham when he was 16-20.

I don’t think we have the FFP clout to drop £18m on someone to then loan out
I’d guess he will hang around the first team , learn how Emery wants him to play and get a few cameo roles here and there and then be let loose properly next season
This won’t affect our FFP too much. Will be about £2.7m per year for his fee, and I imagine his wage will be low, perhaps £20k, so we’re looking at about £4m max FFP per year.
I’m happy with this signing, it’s the exact sort of thing I want us to do. He might end up being poor, but it’s a calculated risk.

Dembele would be a really good signing, especially with his contract expiring this summer. If we could end up with him and £10-15m for the sale of Ings, that would represent a really good window in that department.
-
Just realised that I’ve seen him play live, when Rayo Vallecano beat Levante 2-1 in May 2017 in the second tier. For that reason, I’m certain he’s going to be a star.

You mean the resale function? Doubt there’s a limit. The club make money on every real sale. It’s much better than season ticket holders that hardly turn up. The person next to me can only make 3pm kick offs and never resells so you can imagine how many games he gets too. I nearly always have an empty seat next to me.
Yeah this was my thinking too, it benefits the club. I was just thinking that due to the waiting list they might implement a policy of having to attend a certain percentage of matches to retain the right for your season ticket.

Can she still drop you off though and pick you up after?
We live 100 miles away, so no dice!

Does anyone know if there’s a limit on how many times you can sell your tickets on your season ticket? My wife is 7 months pregnant, and has been advised to stop coming, which is fair enough! She’s sold the last two, and is planning on selling more, but doesn’t want the club to get annoyed and potentially give her season ticket away to someone on the waiting list.

We could do with someone going on to a Betis forum and asking about him. Any volunteers?

My gut feeling is that Alex Moreno would be used mostly as a left midfielder. I seem to recall Albert Moreno played there a lot for him last season, so he's probably trying to replicate that here. That's my guess, anyway.

Dumfries won’t join the Villa, so that’s a no go. I also wouldn’t spend anywhere near that money on him, either.

Deulofeu wasn’t in the Udinese squad tonight, and doesn’t appear to be injured or suspended.
